Is that Wesnoth game using original artwork, or are those sprites pulled from some other game?

Original artwork.

And you all forgot nethack, damn it.

And now for some Stunt Playground:

Oh, forgot flightgear. More of a sim than a fun game, but whatever.

Like I said on page 1... :)

For those who want everything that Cave Story has to offer, you can download the "Cave Story Deluxe Package" here: http://www.gameflaws.com/cavestory/. It has both PC and Mac versions, the English patch, a level editor, and a music player.

This site also has extensive FAQs and walkthroughs.

I also remember seeing some Cave Story speedrun videos, but I can't find the link...

While I have no free games to contribute to the thread, I'll give Cave Story another vote for "Incredibly good game"... I played through it 3-4 times this weekend, actually had to check a FAQ for how to get the Good ending
(Who would've thought you needed to pass the doc up in the Labyrinth to save him and get the good ending?).
, in addition to one of the secret weapons. To think, a single man made this game... I'd like to see more along the same vein.

The secret Boss is at the end of the Secret Level, to my knowledge... I still can't last more than about 5 minutes in Hell, though, so can't say for certain =/

Thanks again for the thread, some real gems in here.

Thanks for the Deadly Rooms of Death recommendation, I felt so good after killing three rows of baddies only to walk upon a scroll which says "a truly skilled swordsman does not have to hide in an alcove to kill these roaches" :(

Atic Atac is also awesome, Ultimate and Speccy FTW

I beat cave story. :D

Great game.

Oh, and by the way: No, it wasn't made by one person. :P

Can anyone recommend any browser-based multiplayer games? I need something to do with my coworkers when there's no work to be done.

Runescape which was mentioned earlier in the thread, is a free browser based mmorpg.

I think Cloud hates Dual-Core systems, cause it totally screws up on mine.

Did you change the affinity? Does it go super fast? I loaded up Deus Ex yesterday and everything went super fast, so I had to change the affinity. Have to do the same for System Shock 2, Thief 1 and 2, and Grim Fandango.

Must check this out, I'm a sucker for flight games :)

Be aware that it's so sim-oriented that there is no combat simulation at all. But it's good enough to be used in commercial pilot training with the adequate hardware (cockpits and multiple screen).

Also don't expect top-notch graphics. But the maps are generated from real satellite elevation data, and the sky is astronomically correct (down right to constellations and sun position).

Confession time. Despite the fact that I've been sporting a Cave Story avatar for months, and already ranked this game among my favorites of all time, I never bothered to reach the secret level. I knew the process for reaching it was fairly convoluted and pretty much requires a walkthrough, and I hate using walkthroughs.

After reading Teasel's post that lays the process out nicely earlier in this thread, I went ahead and did it. The secret level is SO MUCH HARDER than the rest of the game, it's unreal. But it's also SO DAMN GOOD. The best ending was great too. My respect for this game and its creator has gone up a ton. :)

Kumoon (PC and MAC)
Physic puzzle. You need to knock down all red boxes in a room by shooting at them with a revolver, shotgun or grenade launcher. However, every weapon costs points to use (except for the first shot which is free) so you need to use as few shots as possible, bounce bullets on walls (which atcs as a multiplier), cause chain reactions, etc as you will fail a room if you get a negative score.

No, I'm too lazy for that, lol. I know there's a guide out there, but yeah, too lazy

EDIT: it works. What's weird is, after I quit, and restart again, the affinity is set two 2 CPUs, yet it works fine... odd...

shoot one block -> push it into other blocks -> win ;-)

You'll probably need DosBox to get it running, but it's a good RPG. A little dated, graphically, but it's got a good storyline, and it provides a nice balance between freedom and linearity.

Wow I feel old now after seeing this game o_o Used to play this when I was a kid.

where do i get the jetpack v2.0

You have to get out of the labyrinth/waterway without getting the jetpack 0.8 (in other words, don't talk to the professor), then you will get the 2.0.

and the spur?

You have to hold on to your Polar Star (don't trade for the machinegun or the snake) and return to the Hermit Gunsmith after the labyrinth/waterway.

to get the jetpack v2.0 just don't talk to booster when he fall into the maze... there is a red line so you can adjust your jump without falling down, and instead of giving you the normal jetpack he will give you the jetpack v2.0 later, for the spur just go back to the first cave where you picked the gun and talk to the old man there,oh and you can do that only if you still have the gun so don't trade it for the other weapons
Edit:Beaten :(

thanks guys

edit: one more question;
how do i save curly from drowning when i'm fighting the core for the first time? or how do i save her to go and fight against hell?

Or if you prefer the graphical-type adventures, check out The White Chamber It's a pretty rockin' point-and-click adventure game of the horror variety. Very professionally done, and at least a few hours of gameplay.

You might want to spoiler tag that.

To answer your question, check Teasel's post from page 4 of this thread for a rundown of the whole procedure to reach the secret level.

alrightxorz, thanks

What the heck is HOTU?

Home of the Underdog. It's an "abandonware" site, which is kind of a gray area, since on one hand it is technically still illegal to download "abandonware", but on the other hand most of the games have been out-of-print for years and if they ever did get reprinted, HOTU would take them down from the site. Do what you feel is right.

i already explained that on page 4... it's a long explanation don't make me do that again ^^'

Are there any free Real Time Strategy games out there? I lent out Warcraft 3 to a friend, and I have had a craving for a Real Time Strategy game ever since.
