INCEPTION |OT| Movie of the Forever

I really wasn't feeling the movie all that much, the action sequences were boring because most of the time you didn't know what was going on. Given that the movie was 80% action that is a pretty major thing to screw up.

I did like the fiction and the establishment of the world. but I wasn't pleased with what they did with it really...

After like 30 minutes in you should know what's going on.
 
Just got back.

My immediate feeling is that I need to see it again before I can fairly rate it. The ideas in the film were great. The actual plot through which those ideas were explored needed some work. The design of the action sequences were incredibly intuitive and for the most part were shot brilliantly, save for when the action got especially frenetic, at which point Nolan and co seemed to completely drop the ball when it came to communicating the visual space.

Thought the acting was great round the board. Ames is my favourite character.

I don't want to give a score until I see how it holds up/improves on rewatch.

P.S: As I walked out the door, I was greeted by a gentlemen handing out invites to a pre-screening of Scott Pilgrim at the Arclight theatre tomorrow night. I have two passes good for 4 tickets.
 
I watched it tonight, it was enjoyable but I need to see it at least once more before fully formulating my opinion.

I have a few questions/concerns but I'll take those to the spoiler thread...

Exact same feeling, in fact I kept refusing to rate this movie without a re-watch. :D

While opinions may be varied otherwise, can we at least agree that for a major blockbuster, Inception is one of the best in sometime? It may not be perfect, but I'd be far happier to see original, inventive movies like this one populating theaters during the summer rather than urinal-gum, shit-on-a-screen garbage like Transformers.

Oh god yes! It's a big budget blockbuster that doesn't treat the audience like imbeciles. We haven't one like this in a long time.

Saw earlier with the wife, best film I've seen all year, will see it again.

Also, the ending had people at "FUFUFUFUFUFFUUFFUFUFUFUFU" in the theater as well :lol
 
I like a lot of the things he did with the movie.
The ending was great because for a large part of the movie, after about a third of the way in I thought.... Cobb's in a dream. Then they talked about limbo and I thought this whole thing is taking place as he's still inside limbo, and his wife was the one that really got out. She's awake while he's still stuck there. Then at the end, instead of either disappointing me by being right for most of the movie, or alternatively, following through with a boring, straightforward resolution, the ending was left ambiguous. I think my original interpretation could still be true, but the way Nolan tells the story, I doubt that's what he was going for. I actually made a film with exactly that type of ending just last year, and it was also, incidentally, inspired by Memento in many ways. I like stories that aren't completely straight-forward and revealing. But the way he uses an object, the top, to make the audience question what was going on was great. I really liked it. Memento's one of my favorite movies, and for me it was a little stronger and more emotional, but all movies can't be the same. Inception is great in different ways.

its sooooo good, im just in awe at this movie!!
i can't wait to see it again...
 
I really enjoyed this movie. It did drag on a little towards the end, but I was engrossed the whole time. The soundtrack was really good too, and I'm thinking about picking it up sometime.

The snowy mountain was my least favorite part of the movie. I enjoyed everything after
he opens the safe
. It was a great movie, though.
 
Watched it last night - everyone went "ARGH!!!!!!!!!" at the end :lol

I wish every film was produced and directed by Nolan. Absolutely brilliant film.

I think I figured out why it didn't click for me. I think while the movie had an intriguing premise it really didn't really go as far with it as I would of liked it to go. At one point everything just stops being sci-fi-ey and turns into pure action, this I feel did not suit the film well. Early on we're teased with what can happen in dreams and why they're different from reality but apart from one very confusing subplot (
Aurther trying to get the "kick" started in the hotel
) we're never really given anything remotely like that untill the final act. I don't know, I don't hate it, but it feels like a waste of a premise. I don't really want to judge it to harshly until I see it again, but part of me just doesn't want to see it again...

Pretty much. I liked the movie well enough, and really liked the action scenes, but it never felt like it was taking advantage of the premise. Felt like it was running out of budget in the
snow base
too.
 
Am I the only one that was annoyed by people's loud reactions at the end? Let me watch the movie quietly please, this isn't the world cup
 
I don't get the complaints about the ending. It was amazing.
The fact is, that it didn't matter if it was a dream or not. He was happy, and he could see his children's faces.

Everything in the film happened and was real. The ambiguity comes from whether or not Cobb escaped from Limbo the second time with Sato.

The movie was absolutely amazing. Easily my favorite of the year so far. Such a well executed story from start to finish.

That's impossible
Cobb mentions early on that if the inception failed that he'd end up behind bars, it's impossible therefor that he could go from a fugitive to a free man just like that..

Anyone who rates TDK anything even close to "perfect" isnt someone I want to get involved with.

This fucking film, man. Everyone I talk to goes on about how they had a dream about the film, right after watching it. Got my fair share too. Had about 5 dreams last night. I couldn't distinguish what was real and what wasn't. :lol

I'm of the opposite opinion.

The movie's pacing was all over the place at the start, it was too fast towards the middle and it became much more taut towards the end.
