"Look, its like a washboard."

So I actually really liked that A.O. Scott review but I thought he sold short how dreamy the setting of a rotating hotel hallway fight actually is. And of course the last level was like some Dali painting.

Wait what the fuck?

I'm glad people keep posting about the score. Time is a track that just stays with me and I really cannot praise its effectiveness in the movie enough.

My other favorites are:
The Dream is Collapsing
Waiting for a Train (check out the highest rated comment for a little "holy shit" experiment)
The one track on the OST not by Hans Zimmer is my favorite trailer music of all time, and it has become inexorably associated with this film even though it doesn't appear in it in this form at all:
Mind Heist

Glorious stuff. Zimmer is at the top of his game.

EDIT: Oh and I forgot to give credit to Zack Hemsey for Mind Heist. He rules too.

Speaking of score, WB is releasing the 2 bonus tracks

http://movies.broadwayworld.com/art...leases_Two_Tracks_From_INCEPTION_812_20100811

Due to the overwhelming success of Inception: Music From The Motion Picture - Oscar®-winning film composer Hans Zimmer's dramatic score to the blockbuster sci-fi actioner "Inception," Warner Bros. Records will make available two previously unreleased bonus tracks to fans who sign up via email at the soundtrack's website: www.inceptionscore.com. The two bonus tracks, "Projections" and "Don't Think About Elephants," will go live at noon PT on Thursday, August 12th. "Inception (Junkie XL Remix)" is now available at iTunes and all other major DSP's.

Ok. The movie just premiered here in Brazil, and I've just watched it.

What I have to say?

Oh my God.

This is the best movie I've ever watched in my entire life. The way the plot... Fuck, there are no words. When the movie ended, me and my friends were speechless. Perfect.
Ditto Brazil, went to watch it yesterday too here in Belo Horizonte.
Just awesome.

didn't you see her gut in the movie? It was huge, they kept trying to hide it but it wasn't working. Are you telling me she wasn't pregnant?!

Already got my answer but thanks anyway!

Just watched Inception.

My mini-review:

Character Development: Mediocre. This was my real sticking point in the movie, I never felt any real connections with a character on screen. Nor did I care much about Leo's relationship with his wife. Actually, I feel as though Cillian Murphy relationship with his father was far more compelling.

That said, my expectations for this movie was high. Although, mediocre character development has been a sticking point recently with Nolan's movies. He seriously needs to call Yhang Zimou for some lessons on portraying and writing compelling characters.

Cinematography: Excellent. He did a great job with this.

Music: Mind blowing.

Concept: Good

Acting: Brilliant.

Overall: Good. It was a great movie, not TDK-great (I'm a batman fan) but still great. Definitely the best movie I have seen this year.

Finally saw this movie tonight after avoiding knowing anything about the story.. just knew everyone said it was incredible.

...meh

Not sure what the big deal was.
Does zero gravity fighting really get you that excited?
Where is the amazing story?... characters? I was totally bored!

Between this movie and the hurt locker.. I'm starting to feel completely out of touch.

I can't get behind any of this..

Don't worry - the Hurt Locker is one of the most overrated movies in recent memory and Inception certainly isn't perfect. The more you listen to mainstream critics and get hyped, the more you get burned... It's way better to go into movies that don't have the buzz surrounding them because most likely - a) you're less likely to be disappointed b) other people aren't caught up in the hyperbole hype train too.

the only flaw I can find in inception is the action scenes. or lack thereof...

the action scenes they did have were poorly executed imo. doesn't really hurt the experience but it would of been nice to have some grand set and action pieces to elevate this movie to another level. but as it is, its a well crafted, powerful movie with the best soundtrack in a movie ever. thats good enough in my book...

THL got the academy award only because they didn't want to give it to Avatar. And completely overlooked the superior Inglourious Basterds :(

Damn Inception, this is the first film since I was a child that I've seen twice in the theater :lol
Enjoyed it just as much the second time around:D

That shit was a masterful story of addiction and devotion and what we value in life.
Except for the masterful part, I wish this was how the movie was described.

Everyone else was calling it the most suspenseful edge of your seat thrill ride ever and it was far from any of that.

Since I think Nolan is not an action scene kind of guy, I thought it had more than enough action and felt that some were placed there simply to help recoup it's cost. The snow level would have worked fine as a stealth mission to me.

Action takes away from Nolan's primary strengths and was the worst part of Dark Knight (Except the batcycle chase) & Begins.

While not straight up action, the silent takedown stuff in the opening section is great. Love how he catches the empty shells after each shot.

Yeah it was between IG and THL, Avatar had no chance. Avatar winning Best Picture would be a worse win than Crash beating Brokeback Mountain.

All I can think of when I see silencers in films/TV is how loud an actual silenced shot is. It was a dream though!

But yeah, Nolan's action scenes are mostly horrible. He has a lot of trouble with providing a sense of place. It's almost impossible to tell where anyone is in relation to each other (see: the entire snow fortress attack).

But at least we got that brilliant hallway scene this time.

Finally watched it, big fan of everyone involved aaaaand it lived one-hundred-percent up to it's premise. Loved it. Can't wait to watch it a few more times.

Still, it's no Shutter Island.
don't hate me.

Yes, it was very often mislabeled. Before and even after the Oscars, I've been showing the film to friends. Every time before the movie I put up the disclaimer: it's not a non-stop action movie. It's a psychological breakdown of three men and their desires. The fact that they're soldiers is just a tool for accomplishing that psychological analysis.

I agree that Basterds was probably the better film, but not by a lot.

Love this scene.

Went to go see this last afternoon with my brother and some friends. We were the only ones in the theater, although that was probably because it was an afternoon showing. It was a pretty cool movie. Of course I bet a lot of people who didn't really get it will be all like, "Whoa, stuff isn't real!" without realizing that the movie was showing the dangers of that sort of mindset.

Also, what a dick ending.
I WANT IT TO FALL OVER. WHY WON'T IT FALL OVER. IT MUST FALL OVER GODDAMN YOU
It was wobbling a little. It would have fallen down in a few more seconds.

I still don't get how people think it was a dream. A whole section of the movie has to be left out for that to work
unless I missed something very obvious.

There really shouldn't be any reason to say "in my opinion" so much. Any logical person knows that what you're saying is obviously your opinion.
Thank you! I hate it when people reply to something you say by saying "That's your opinion".
Of course it's my fucking opinion! I don't need use other people's opinion, I've got my own fucking opinion.

For me I'd have liked to see either IG or Up in the Air take it last year, but a lot of GAF has some weird vendetta against Jason Reitman, so I'm probably gonna get flamed or something now. :lol

Except Crash is an amazing film...
