Nolan's next big franchise after Batman is over, a video game adaptation? I'm sure he could make the first great video game movie. Somewhat random, but Christopher Nolan's Metroid is a film I'd dig. Cross cutting between her past and a moody alien-esque first mission on Zebes somewhat in the vein of Batman Begins? I'd be all over that.

Why should the great Nolan make a Metroid movie? *super cringe*

He won't, I was just fantasizing for a second. :lol

We've discovered that apparently he is a video game fan, though.

Although, if you were a fan of his in 2003, you might have said the same when it was announced he was going to do a Batman movie, when the last one was Batman & Robin. :P

If anyone is interested, AV Club had a more than decent podcast on the film back in July. They talk about the strengths and the (few) weaknesses the film has, besides giving a pretty good analysation of it across Nolan's usual themes (and also pointing out the fact that the discussion of
reality vs. dream
in the context of the intention of the film is in some way pointless, which I totally agree with). I thought it was worth a listen for those who haven't yet.

Just skip to 10:30 and listen: http://www.avclub.com/articles/salt-inception-indepth,43413/

It also beat The Matrix Reloaded in domestic gross. Very happy to see it still doing well.

However, i get the feeling that WB will try to push for a sequel of some sort. To be honest, i wouldn't mind one either.

I guess I would feel the same way BioShock fans felt when they announced the sequel (the only difference being that I wouldn't keep on complaining if it turned out good).

I don't know where exactly do the rights to Inception's plot and characters lie, but the movie was produced under Nolan's SYNCOPY company so I'm not sure if WB has the final word on a sequel.

I personally do not need a sequel, I'd rather Chris Nolan keep on churning out more original stuff. Let's not even speak of the possibility of someone else directing an Inception sequel. :P

I can't imagine a sequel equaling the original unless it involved Limbo entirely. What kind of awesome movie would it be to see everyone's mind creating the limbo world.

To me, Inception told the story well and already had the 2 biggest crackpots central to that story
Cobb & Mal
.

I guess if the ending was
a dream, they could go in and rescue Cobb which would put the rest of them in danger too

Thinking of picking this up...

Anyone have it?

I got it a few weeks ago actually. It's pretty cool as I loved seeing the production art and the PASIV instructions.

Here are a few pics of the book and the insides:

Oh, as far as the movie goes, best movie I've seen this year period. Saw it twice, have Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien as my alarm for when I wake up in the morning (it's actually rather effective), and have the UK Special Edition Blu-ray on preorder (should arrive just in time for my birthday).

I don't understand why people keep comparing Inception to Reloaded. Reloaded was rated R. And yes, that makes a huge difference.

Being one of the most awaited sequels of all-time also makes a difference. :P Box-office-wise the comparisons come from the fact that Reloaded is the biggest non-HP/TDK success from WB.

Sequel would not be a good idea. I think, they could do a mini-series with it. But without the main actors. Just take the concept and do a TV series with new actors.

WB was writing this off as a "Keep Nolan happy so he makes more Batmenz" project, and now they have a possible new franchise....if Nolan wants to.

My dream of McDonalds Inception toys might come true!

"My Happy Meal came with Mal with stabbing action!"

Agreed. To me, it would scream we made this because we want more money.

It would probably cost too much as a TV show, but that's an interesting concept since there are competing dream stealers out there plus the government.

If Nolan had adapted a video game franchise. NeoGAF would explode.

Oh wait, he already did MGS in Inception! :D

That was pretty much Eames' dream level. Also, the Mombasa track from the soundtrack was basically just like something straight from MGS4's soundtrack.
