1) Duskers
2) Brigador
3) Mu Cartographer
4) Stephen's Sausage Roll
5) Soft Body
6) RYB
7) Gladiabots
8) Blacksea Odyssey

===

Brigador
Gorgeously detailed grungy cyberpunk mech action. Play smart, and play cautious, and Brigador becomes a tactics-on-the-fly action game as you blind enemies with smoke, use the environment to funnel and block enemies, and carefully move and position yourself to best suit your loadout. And what a loadout, encompassing a vast array of vehicle types, weapons, and abilities that leave the isometric landscapes in ruins and light up the night with explosions and high-velocity rounds
Stephen's Sausage Roll
A cleverly designed puzzler from which complexity emerges from simplicity. Much like learning a new language, Sausage Roll's arsenal of fork and meat grows more complex and reveals new ways of interactions that were staring you in the face. So hard, yet so satisfying
Soft Body
Sleek, fluid, and beautiful in motion, this is an arcade puzzle game, as you control two snake like beings as they flow around hazards and through shifting stages. Learn to control both simultaneously and soon you can perform deft evasive dances across the screen
Blacksea Odyssey
Only played the demo of this, but it showed promise. The creatures and bosses were impressive massive, and tearing them to pieces with your harpoon was quite satisfying. Hope to check out the full game eventually, but at least worth a try if the demo is any indication

Looking forward to it though.

This isn't game-related but I figured Indie-gaf would be interested

Paint of Persia

It's a free program - created as part of a dev jam - that renders video into full blown pixel art animation. The effects look really pleasing to the eye.

Those look really good. However, it looks like its not actually creating the effect, and just gives you a tool to "redraw" animations with Pixelart. Still super neat though.

Ah you're right - in my haste I didn't pay attention to that aspect. Like you said, it's still potentially a powerful tool in the right hands.

Oh, Hive Jump. They're releasing on Steam Early Access because they needed additional funding to finish the game but they're not providing Early Access keys to all Kickstarter backers, even the backers that paid over the $19.99 it'll cost on Steam.

As a $20 backer, I'm pretty annoyed about the situation.

I think I remember Hover: Revolt of Gamers pulling the same thing citing that Early Access meant the game wasn't released, and only people who backed at a higher tier that promised "alpha access" got early access keys. Is this the same situation? Here's a thread on it I found:

Hmm, yeah. They could easily get around that by starting a private Alpha for the $35 and up backers now, then provide early access keys to all $20 and up KS backers later in the month. They have to see how ridiculous it looks to backers who paid the same as people pre-ordering and buying into the EA now.

Yes, it's a similar situation. They promised "alpha access" to people that paid $35 or more. It still hasn't materialized. In the end, they're going to give early access to Early Access for $35 backers a week before the Steam build goes live. Everyone below $35 has to wait for the official release. It sucks for everyone.

I'd much rather they went the way Larian did with Divinity: Original Sin when they gave alpha and beta access to every Kickstarter backer, even those that didn't pay $95 for the alpha tier. No one complained because they realized that it was a good idea for the developer.

The latter seems way more messed up and unfair. If I paid extra for alpha access and then anyone who backed any tier can get alpha access...then why did I even back for alpha access in the first place? Too bad, you should have backed the higher tier.

Usually in the cases similar to Hover and Hive Jump, Early Access is at the same price as the alpha or beta access price, so while EA is open to everyone, they're still essentially "slacker-backing" at the same tier to get alpha/beta access

If you're going to think that way, the truly fair way to handle it would be to sell the Early Access version for $35 (the same cost as the alpha tier in the KS campaign), then drop the price to $20 when the game is finished. This is how Elite: Dangerous handled it and I would have been satisfied with the decision.

Graphite Lab's idea to price Early Access at $20 while keeping Early Access keys away from $20-$30 backers is terrible all around.

Speaking of Larian's situation, no one complained because they realized that Larian's plan would result in a better game for everyone; More beta testers to iron out the bugs, more funding for Larian since they'd get more revenue at the reduced price. I personally backed over the alpha tier and I was perfectly happy with the decision.

Has any sort of price been mentioned for We Happy Few?

I think it is important to have in mind that:
  • Happy Few is not a walking simulator, it is a survival game, maybe with stealth elements, I don't remember,
  • Obduction should be installed on a SSD and played with a GPU with 4 GB VRAM (not talking about RAM, which should be at least 8 GB, but about the VRAM of the GPU).
Some people won't be happy when they realize that, others will be, just do not have wrong expectations.

Isn't Rimworld just going on Steam? It won't be any more released than now, no?

still crossing fingers for that Rimworld steam key

It sounds like we should get it though? From what I understand he just can't say that you will.

It's really weird. Apparently the reason is because you aren't allowed to promise Steam keys, but I've seen a huge amount of games do that and they weren't asked to stop. Factorio and pretty much every kickstarter game has done it, for example. They all promised you'd get Steam keys months or years in advance and they were allowed to say that, but for some reason Rimworld wasn't.

It's certainly odd. I had preordered Door Kickers and Broforce and got Steam keys when they eventually came to Early Access, a year or two later

VA-11 Hall-A is another recent game that was happy to promise Steam keys for all early purchases. I've held off on Rimworld because of the lack of clarity.

Maybe the developer is trying to dissuade people from buying now in the hopes of climing the Steam sales charts when it's finally there?

My unxpected purchase this Sale was the god game Crest. Funnily, I had known of it and it wasn't on my radar at all, but then I listened to a podcast that mentioned it. A god game about man trying to interpret the will of a god and your divine commandments being twisted by people's free will? That's pretty brilliant. Even the pictograph UI seems really clever in that context, since it mirrors a god trying to deliver his commandments in a way humans can comprehend.

12 is Better Than 6 for me, the gunplay is pretty dope. Went ahead and posted a recommendation in Toma's other thread.

That's enough of a recommendation for me, sounds awesome, gonna pick that up now

Woah this is a hell of a CPU hog, using 80% of my 6600k off the bat

Now this is what I'm talking about

Has anyone else been playing the Wildfire alpha? It's shaping up to be another Kickstarter success. The game has improved a *lot* since the earliest alpha.

Unfortunately, I don't see an up-to-date build on Youtube so you'll have to take my word for it.

So, you guys remember Banished, right? I'm wondering what you'll think of this, then:

I honestly don't know what to think of it. Banished was a great game, and there's nothing wrong with making a game with the same sort of theme or idea..but this seems like it's literally just a banished clone with 1-2 new features added (first person and terrain editing). That doesn't seem right to me at all. Pretty much all the UI elements look "the same but different". This was what Banished's UI looked like:
