I must have missed the controversy around The Last Night. Could someone please throw a link my way or something along those lines?
There's a thread for the game on the first page with more explanations if you feel like digging into it. Last page alone is pretty damning.

Except it turns out the TLN creator/designer is a racist/sexist gamergate asshole so now it's looking like I won't be buying it. I can usually separate art and artist, but not when a shitty ideology is the basis of the said art's narrative

It really sucks. The Last Night was my most anticipated indie game after Rain World, we finally get a trailer, the game looks amazing, and then we learn all this crazy shit

Just saw that thread, I wasn't expecting it.

Formicide just came out of Greenlight for the low, low price of completely free. It looks bonkers. With Death Tank being MIA on the PC, I've been wanting a real time take on Worms for a long time. I'll have to get some gifs up later.

Dammit steam! Death's Gambit ended up on the new releases list. Got me all hyped for a minute there, but I think it is just a relic of an older release date.

I always had an interest in indie games, but Jazzpunk rekindled my enthusiasm greatly. Wasn't even aware a DLC was being worked on, so this was a wonderful surprise to see it released on Steam today. Can't wait to play!

Yeah I had that happen to me too

Can Rainworld be played on a Steam Controller?

Also what has the team behind Marlowe Briggs been doing lately? For a god of war clone, it's very entertaining

Whats the verdict on Nex Machina? Is it actually any good or just hyped to death? It looks very by the numbers - a flashy twin stick shooter.

It's the Resogun folks + the creator of Smash TV and Robotron

The hype is real

Frenetic af, gorgeous, crazy bullet and enemy patterns, clever level design, and you're really propelled to flow through the levels as smoothly as possible to get that high score.

Ah! Missed subscribing on the thread, wondered why I wasn't seeing any indie chat.

Steam sales this week, though I think I probably have enough (picked up Shadowrun: HK and Soma in the GoG sale)

I've got half an eye on Hollow Knight, Owl Boy and Night in the Woods though...

You can fucking not go wrong with those choices.

Anyone played Pathfinder adventures?

It came out to steam on the 15. Most of the negative reviews are saying that they changed things form the mobile version and that the game haves plenty of bugs. I do not worry for the bugs, since it is an Obsidian game, so is something you expect about them q:

So, anyone played both versions? Do you recommend the steam edition?

Thanks!!!

I'm trying to find a recently released indie game. I can't remember the name, but it's a turn-based sci-fi/cyberpunky RPG in the JRPG style. I believe the battle layout is similar to the vertical columns style of Final Fantasy 1-6. There was a GAF user who had an avatar of one of the main characters for quite a while IIRC. I think it came out recently. Anyone know what I'm talking about? It's on PSN too IIRC.

Lovely thread

Does anyone remember the name of that game, where ir's 2D and pixelated and you play robotic judge dredds? It may have been Minimax or something I remember liking the video of it a lot.

Also I want Metroid Maker to be a thing

Let me show you through these halls, my friend, where treasures of indie gaming await...
Not sure who played it, so:

Final Station is a pretty nifty little game. Survival Action Horror kinda thing, but most elements are relatively toned down in favor of story exposition. The game is split in two parts, in one you need to take care of your train and your passengers, in the other, you need to sneak/fight zombies to advance.

The highlight is the world building though, they really had some great ideas for the setting/how to visualize their post apocalypse in pixel style.

Well done, definitely recommended. Currently 60% off on Steam and for PS4.

I played this and loved it. One of my favorite indie games.

How's the zombie combat/encounters? The 2D nature made it kind of boring in the trailer

Relatively simple, but surprisingly well thought out actually. You have limited resources, so you cant shoot yourself through everything, the enemies have different approaches, some cant be shot, so you need to find other ways, or just run away, hoping there wont be a horde of zombies behind the next door. Its not lighting up the world with its unique mechanics, but they work well for the experience they wanted to craft and complement the world building/setting, which is the actual highlight, very nicely. Polished and very enjoyable, if you like Postapoc stuff, definitely recommended to pick up.

It has decent pacing too, played it for 2 hours now and no part ever drags on too long and the "setting" or story bits you pick up actually work as a nice reward for game progression.

Any hidden indie gems in the steam sale people would recommend? I already have a bit of a wishlist going but would love to be able to expand it a bit.

If you don't already have them on your list:
Unexplored
Induction
Recursed
Wuppo

Wuppo is already on the list and Induction is already in my library. But thanks kindly for the other recommendations. Recursed slipped through the net and it would be a shame not to pick that up.

Final Station, see above. :)

If I had played Wuppo last year it could end in my top 5. Surprisingly good and I have no idea how I missed it, I really hope it gets more sales now.

Tempted to get Spark.
Do it. If you like 2D Sonic or Freedom Planet, you'll most likely enjoy Spark. Great music, controls like a dream, and looks really nice. One of the few that nails the 16-bit look imo.

My only issue with it is that it was a bit too easy, other than that, it's my favorite platformer this year so far.

Looks like they managed to create a new concept that will be even less appealing to the "masses" than Eidolon. :(

If it helps, I am now putting Eidolon on the steam sale wish list. Although I am 20% certain I may already own it, need to check when I get back.

And just to reiterate, played some more Final Station. You guys should really pick this up. This small inconspicuous game is one of the best examples of world building I've played in a good while.
