Indie Games 2017 [March] Dye's Desync Demise

Grumpf.

Thanks Wok. I wonder if we could get the Clairvoyance fight club going again one day.

😏

Iconoclasts is done and he's doing publicity for it now. I played a boss fight at his PAX East booth.

And I don't know if this means anything but there seems to be a hidden event this month on the calendar for the game's official Steam group.

Wow, it is big:

That's also true of the game's many NPCs. I got to meet about 10 of them, though there are apparently more than 70 in all, and each felt unique and human with their own little story to tell. I expect the same same from the game's 22+ bosses, when I finally get to meet them all.

Here's something that may be worth keeping an eye on:

Unknown game from Little Wolf Studio - PC, Consoles

Whilst we can't give away too much just yet - what we can say, is that the game will heavily feature strong emotive themes in a rich and varied landscape. The game is a single player console and PC experience, in a fully 3D stylised world.

So far it's just concept art and mock-ups, but they look interesting.

Plasma Puncher - May 2017 (PC)

I feel like indies have been underwhelming thus far this year, but this looks LOVELY.

Raw Fury is a publisher to watch. They already published GoNNER, Kathy Rain, and Kingdom, and have grabbed The Last Night, Dandara, and Tormentor X Punisher

I can't remember the name but there was this side scroller game with a bit of pixelated Bladerunner esque visuals that was in the making, and I think it's still not out yet. Does anyone know which game i am talking about here/

I'm eager to see this launch tomorrow.

March 28: 7€

I'm done with spending this month...

Maybe you still want to spend 20€.

Released: 20€

March 30: 20€
April 11: 20€

April 25: 20€

Still tempted by Night in the woods more than anything else on that list.

Everything I've seen and read works for me.

So far this year, it is the only PC game which has scored at least 9/10 in the French videogame magazine which I trust the most.

Still gotta play Night In The Woods heard nothing but praise.

Not cool.

Gorogoa doesn't have a firm release date, but it's supposed to come out in 2017. Roberts is still finalizing all of the game's art and visual cues, and he mentioned several times during my demo that certain elements were only temporary. The demo was entirely mouse-driven, but I could see it being especially great as a mobile game. Puzzle game fans should definitely keep their eyes on Gorogoa.

Bomb Squad Academy is out. It's very short, most completed it in about an hour, but nearly all the steam reviews are positive so far. It's a buck cheaper ($5.94) for a week.

Anyone try Loot Rascals yet? It's possibly my next indie I'm going to try, but between work, kids, and Horizon, I don't have time for it at the moment

Needed something to ease the pain from the huge disapointment that is Rainworld for me.
So I bought Loot Rascals and played a couple of runs.
Very pleased with that game.
Granted, I have a sweet spot for roguelikes. This one trully has an amazing art direction and lots of personality. It really presents itself as a boiled-down roguelike and I liked how seemingly casual playing it felt, but that there are some interesting, more complex mechanics underneath its candy coated skin. Really fun, even though it's still a roguelike so you know what you're in for.

Thanks for the impressions! Still busy with work, kids, and Horizon, so dunno when I'll get a chance to check it out, but it'll be soon, hopefully.

I played games so I'm voting yay!

Also I was at Rezzed last week and went hands on with some bits which I'll post about in next month's thread.

Voting:

1. Hollow Knight

Only had a small hands on with this but it's so excellent I need to rethink my gaming time and budget to get this.

2. Torment

I'm still not 100% sold. I might not have been in the right mindset for it. It's fun and good, certainly, but I can't help feel it's over-written for the sake of the Torment name.

3. Morphblade

I wasn't really into this to start with. I gave it a fair shake but something didn't click. However, I came back to it and it started to grow on me. There's a nice bit of strategy here that maybe isn't apparent on your first couple of playthroughs. I'm still shit though.

Torment is probably my favourite game ever, but I have no clue what went wrong with Numenera. I dont even think its overwritten, I think its just... not a believable universe? I mean the whole starting city already consists of so many random elements that seem so stupidly incoherent.

As a comparison, the crypt in the starting area of Torment had a super strong sense of place. Items were important and set up interesting interactions that kept you guessing. You had plenty of different ways to solve that area that didnt feel forced either, but it just feels so by the numbers in Numenera.

I am also particularly not sure yet how much I like or dislike the combat system.

Not sure how I missed this, but in case anyone else did too. DoubleFine has a deal on Humble right now where you can vote on game concepts, and they will prototype the winners. Really like the idea here. They get an idea of what people want, we get some say in what they make, everyone wins seems like.

Except that DF makes the games. :P

New thread up in a bit btw.
