inFamous Second Son Walkthrough Out - Spoiler thread of Spoiling things

(edit: accidentally posted this in the non-spoiler thread, going to put it here)

Finished the whole thing on Good Karma, watched a cohort beat it on Evil... a couple things I noticed, maybe others can chime in:

Good vs Evil:
Man, Delsin became a huge asshole in Evil, but the weird thing is that he's only Evil at specific points because they clearly wanted Good/Evil to share as many general cutscenes as possible, which ends up making him seem bipolar or something at times. For example him
threatening to break in Reggie's nose during the Fetch's cutscene
seemed way too extreme given the feeling of the cutscene overall, as was his decision to
blow up the Akomish
. It also doesn't make sense that Reggie tells Evil Delsin
how "proud" he is of him before he falls... you'd think it'd be the opposite.

I actually almost prefer the way they handled "Evil" in Infamous 2 as opposed to this game; Cole was much more selfish rather than outright evil, and I think it worked better.

Is it just me, or does Augustine's
reasoning for "protecting" the Conduits
totally sound like that's been done before, in some other game/comic/show? I swear I've seen that excuse somewhere before.

I was really annoyed at how they lock out your ability to choose Good/Bad missions really early on... why bother showing my the red mission marker when I can't choose it? It's been a while since I played it, but I could've sworn that Infamous 2 still let you select Good/Bad approaches to the mission throughout the game regardless of you alignment, the exception being the very last important Good/Bad choice.

Oh, and FUCK HANK. Seriously.
The only time in my Good run that I went Evil to choke the fucker out... and then they dropped me a full Good level because of it!! I very grudgingly reloaded to save him, but man, fuck his daughter and fuck his stupid ass... he didn't even properly apologize for getting Reggie killed.

Cole's Legacy DLC:
What a waste of time... I was really hoping for more content that mattered, rather than a lame
Zeke 2 second speaking bit
and
Wolfe's brother whose face was literally one of the generic Secret Agent faces that I saw at least 20 times during the game
. I'm surprised they weren't more vague about Cole
actually being dead, since you think they'd want to keep that open just in case they ever want to revist it in the future
. I would've loved some comic book cutscenes of what happened between Infamous 2 and Second Son with more fleshed out story.

I did think that the Good ending felt the best overall, very nice nod to Infamous 2 with
Delsin's last line
, and the stuff about Reggie
genuinely made me sad he didn't make it
.

Speaking of Reggie, does anyone think that maybe
there's a chance he might've survived somehow? Considering that Hank was also encased in concrete and still survived... what if Reggie had some latent Conduit ability the way Delsin did
?

It was a fun game, but I felt that the story went nowhere. It was nice to see an older female villain though *cough*Uncharted 3*cough*.

The plot seemed like a rehash of the latter half of Infamous 2 - there's Conduits and humans are scared of them and want to hurt them. Cue the military. It's also lame that there's absolutely no teaser at the end. I would have liked something like Reggie washing up on the beach and opening his eyes, realizing he is now a conduit. I still believe that Cole is not dead - otherwise they would have made that more obvious.

Delsin was a better character than Cole (not that hard to do), but eventually I got tired of all his quips and smart assness. They need to tone it down a bit.

Concrete powers are kind of underwhelming compared to Neon and Video, but they're nice as a "complete the game" sort of reward.

I would love this. There could definitely be a lot of
character development with Reggie coming to accept himself as a Conduit, and possibly have Delson provide comfort. Switching the roles a bit would be fantastic... especially if we get to play as Reggie in a sequel
.

Cole's Legacy was a pre-order/collector's edition thing, Paper Trail is free.

and its not even worth it.....

bought this game 69.99 (80.47 with tax)

THIS GAME IS A RENTAL!!!!!! finished in one big play-through. so pissed, im not going to play BAD side.

Do we discuss the Paper Trail thing here?

i must be an idiot because I'm stuck on this part. It's during Part 2 when you get to
lindakrileylegal.com
and I'm just lost

I would be the worst detective ever :(

Finished good and evil play through.

A nice game held back from being a masterpiece by its outdated formulaic nature, which I hope was caused by time constraints and not by lack of developer foresight.

Hint:
Certain letters have been replaced with numbers. It's a D.U.P. file number.

I assumed that, didn't work at first

Went back to the DUP file thing, ended up being because I put the last letter as a 7 instead of a 1

@Beefy. I actually like the power. I thought neon was the worst.

Well,
Reggie fell into the ocean, encased in concrete. If he survived, it's because he's a water conduit or something. :P Which I hope is the case because I really liked Reggie. Even if he didn't have a single line that didn't include either the word "cop" or the word "brother."

One thing that I have to hand to concrete after playing around with it after beating the game as both evil and good is that it is ridiculously strong compared to the all the other powers evil or good.

The standard concrete "shot" on R2 can kill 2 dups without much trouble if you chain headshots together. I really wish they would have added a launch if you were already sprinting (like every fucking DUP in the game has..serious wtf) - but other than that it's consistent in the fact that you are a TANK of a muffucka.

Special shoulda been concrete spikes outta the floor that send soldiers flying and remain in the streets for a few minutes before crumbling or being shot to pieces.

Missed opportunity there i gotta say - But everything else about this game? Fucking baller. Wish it was longer but i'll come back for a platinum trophy and to just wreak havok on my evil save every now and then.

There should have been NG+. Concrete is such a good power IMO but you get it at the end which just kills it, especially if you're like me. I got all shards so I was able to max it out during the Augustine fight, but now I have absolutely nothing to do since I 0% every district.

Surprisingly good mobility and the powers seemed strong.

Video > Concrete > Smoke > Neon

Maybe I played with Neon wrong but I wasn't a fan of it. Video was OP. L1 > Triangle takes out everyone. For the big dudes you could L1 > R1 or for some fun just use the dpad ability which seemingly takes out everything in the district.

I love this game. Everyone seems to have a different opinion of which powers are best, so to me that means they definitely nailed the powers down. The game does have it's flaws but I didn't have insane expectation for a first year title.

Cole's Legacy was absolute trash and could possibly be false advertisement. When I first heard about it, it was said to bridge the gap between Infamous 2 and SS. The thing was like 15 minutes long and is you following fish symbols for 90% of that. Easily the worst preorder incentive of all-time.

Anyone else hoping for a patch that brings new side missions, a patch that will never come...
I loved the game, it's just I 100% everything, got the Platinum, and now I don't know what to doooo

I think Delsins evil swings are too evil for him. That last scene... I don't know man. Even though he is evil, I don't think he would do that. Felt really forced tbh.

I really enjoyed Second Son's smaller scale, less world-changing story. Augustine was a great villain to me, and having the whole thing pretty much just be a minor skirmish in Seattle was a nice change from Infamous 2's America-destroying rampage from The Beast.

But, then, maybe I'm still bitter over how hard they Mass-Effect-3'd the story in Infamous 2. It really is almost the same bullshit plot-twist, just about ten months before ME3 came out. You spend the entire game working towards one specific goal, only to have the rug pulled out from under you in the last twenty minutes or so. "Cole, collect Core Whatsits to fill up the Ray Field Thing so you can become powerful enough to fight The Beast!" *20 hours of gameplay later, epic powerup scene you've been anticipating all this time is coming up...* "lol I lied, actually the Ray Field Thing kills all humans or all superheroes, choose now 3, 2, 1 let's go shittyfinalbossrollcredits!"

GAAAAWD I was bitter. Ugh. I've still never started a second playthrough of that game. At the time I honestly thought Sucker Punch was trying to kill the Infamous universe to make sure they'd never have to make another game in the series, for whatever reason. So, while Second Son is obviously a much smaller-scale thing, that barely makes a dent in the overall story, I much prefer it to the alternative :P

Yeah just heard the last audio log, in which Nolan North told me about the "glass, wire and paper" powers. hints i hope!

I kinda hope that for once the sequel will take the evil ending as the main one.
Would be interesting for Delson and friends to be the main villains.

Finished the game tonight.

Pros
-I was afraid I wasn't going to like Delsin when watching the early previews, but upon playing the game I found myself enjoying him a lot more. I guess I was thinking he might break into a lot of monologues, but he ended up being pretty focused on what he wanted.
-I prefer the way the powers are upgraded this time around. Searching for cores is much easier than trying to grind random enemies for minuscule amounts of XP.
-Each power was very fun, and I really like the mechanic of draining elements from your surroundings to power yourself. I kinda lost interest in smoke after getting Neon and Video (the former especially when I unlocked unlimited running), but that might change when I go for an evil playthrough. Some of those upgrades look nasty.

Cons
-Short, or at least it felt like it. The side missions present for each district took little-to-no effort to complete, and while there are the good/bad karma activities, there are only two types of each. The main missions also number fewer than any of its predecessors. This is the most disappointing part of Second Son, but maybe they got some meaty DLC on the way.
-Related to the above: I appreciate the smaller story, but feel like it could've been more fleshed out with other missions. Second Son really never puts on the breaks, and you spend all of
two
missions with Delsin's allies as a result with little time to know them. Compare this to something like inFamous 1 or 2, where Cole's allies were part of the story early on and stayed there.
-Good/Bad decisions. These have always been kinda fun, but there were so few of them this time around, and from what I've read, the differences between them aren't very significant, at least compared to the previous games.
-Delsin, much like Cole before, feels like he has no weight to him. Whenever he jumps it's like he's floating off the ground rather than actually jumping. The climbing mechanics also didn't seem as polished as in Infamous, but then again, there was very little need for climbing this time around.

Overall, I enjoyed playing the game, but still feel like a lot more could've been done. I get the feeling Sucker Punch had to use a lot of it's time and budget just to create and fine-tune the world, leaving not much time for the actual missions. On the bright side, if they go ahead with a sequel, they should now have enough groundwork to make a really meaty game, and I'm sure they'll come up with something great.
