Injustice: Gods Among Us demo impressions

I would imagine because of fatalities, in MK9 there were 3 models, Male, Female, and Sheeva, all the fatalities cinematics have to fit every character, and if everyone had a unique model, that would probably be a lot of work.

I guess that excuse flies for MK9, but there are no fatalities in this one. And as far super move cinematics, there's no such problem in SF4. It's sad that they do this with a character pool as rich as DC's. They just made all the characters look the same.

This game isn't slow at all. I don't get the complaints. If you honestly think it's slow go try Very Hard (or even Hard) and see what the computer is doing. You can do that too! You just need to put in a bit of effort and figure it out. This game is quite fast.

After playing the demo i have one word, ugly.

This game is ugly, the character models, the level design, the costume design, the menus. There are some small nice ideas but it is buried in such an ugly game. Who approved this game to be made? The budget for this game should have been given to Rocksteady to make an awesome superman or Flash or Green Arrow game.

Have you played the game yet? The character frames are not similar at all in this game.
They vary greatly.

Totally agree.

I only go by what I've seen. The only one that seemed genuinely different was the Solomon dude, and even him seemed slightly stretched upwards. Their designs are a waste.

Come on, even if you have different taste as far as character design you can not say that the menu system is ugly.

HOW DOES THIS DEMO NOT HAVE CONFIGURABLE CONTROLS

Seriously come on

I have a Hori stick which has a non-standard button layout so it's really lame I can't change it

I like it and will totally pick it up when it is around $30

Not a knock on the game, I just haven't been hardcore into fighters since VF2

Every character has there own model and proportions.
The costumes though... ya, thankfully there are a lot of comic book alts.

I was using my friend custom stick, and fuck, was about to throw it through a window trying to play.

So no information about the story or star lab missions have been revealed through data mining the demo?

mk9 had everything gutted out through the demo

I wish there was still a Green Lantern TV show with Razor.

Now I'm sad again.
They are looking into crowdfunding to bring that and Young Justice back.

I can't support that, though. Love the shows as I do, I don't think Time Warner needs money, and there's nothing to stop them from just cancelling the shows again.

I always figured that, if they were to make a DC fighting game, Superman should be the boss. I mean, what's anyone going to do to him, realistically? He's freakin' Superman.

All the complaints about the game are the same complaints I had about MK9

Really stiff, not really fluent in the movement. It's slow but yet fast lol.

I'm starting to really like the guys at Netherrealm. They definitely learned from the criticism of MK9 and not only fixed the problems but went above and beyond. I love the frame data in command list as well as the explanations for each special (and EX). The inputs for specials coming up as soon as you pause is a nice touch and I hear training mode is great as well.

This demo took a lot more time to get into than MK, but that was pretty much a given considering the new mechanics. It'll be interesting to see how the meta-game develops. MK's was really underrated.

Haha wow you guys are harsh! :P
For the people that are interested in actual gameplay/char analysis I'll have some character breakdowns coming in the following days.

You know when the game was first announced and show, I didn't really mind the costumes.

Like here, it was kinda weird, but it didn't bug me.

Then they start showing off his alt costumes, and it made the NRS costumes look kinda bad.
Like new 52
And Arkham City
And even weird ass Black Lantern Batman
I'm unsure if I like his alt costume though. It's kinda weird, but a bit burtony, which I do like.

I haven't tried the demo yet but from what I'm understanding, the walk speed is slow in this game but things like dashes are fast? My brother bought mk9 back then and I personally didn't like how slow the normals came out. Slower normals seem fine in a 3d (in gameplay not graphics, clarified to not cause confusion) but feels weird on a 2d plane. People have said it's more capcom like, so can you hitconfirm? In mk9 the input buffer was weird so you had to input your commands ahead of time.

In a combo, you'd have to meter burn it to keep going. To just follow it up, I like using the slide, sending the bats(if you already have them out), or his forward + 3 overhead.

This is just a guess, but it seems like they do mo-cap without animating on top of the motions. Makes stuff look really stiff.

Ah ok, btw anyone else having some input trouble with that slide kick? Or just me.

Haven't played much but enjoyed messing around. All 3 characters felt like they had powerful tools, I've a feeling most of everyone will be viable in this. Only complaint would be I feel the camera is panned back too far. Cool for showing off stages and bg interacts but might be detrimental to everything else.

It feels slightly yankier than MK9 IMO. I expect this playstyle in Mortal Kombat games, but for this one I thought they would polish it a bit more. I really like the frame data for moves though.

It's not the prettiest game, but it doesn't look as bad as AE. The menus are just fine, and now the only important thing (the netcode) has yet to be confirmed.

I have this pre-ordered, but will wait to open until I've heard how's the online.

I need to learn combos in this game. Lex Luther is fun to use, I can't wait to use Joker.

A simple one for Batman:

Circle (Summon Bats), Square, Triangle, X, j.Triangle, Square, Square, Circle (Release Bats).

Just tried it (xbox), really liked it.

I guess that "ugliness" is the Netherrealm art style, but I dug it. (Liked how MK9 looked overall.) This is just more polished and looks like they were given a heck of a budget after MK9's success.

The way it plays feels nice for my tastes; snappier than MK9, still has that trademark animation style but that's okay.

Hold down after you push RB.
You can sometimes aim the direction you jump as well, if you use front or back.
Ah, thanks! It was starting to seem random to me.

I wish you could skip the freaking trailer at the end. It's nice the first time, and then...

The gameplay is fine and the art is still better than the art style used for SFIV characters. Yes I went there.

Nah. The SF4 art style stuff is complete hyperbole. Game is gorgeous and animates beautifully Chun-Li has big legs but so what. At least the girls in SF4 actually somewhat resemble females.

Love mortal kombat 9. Hated this demo. Won't be paying attention to this until it is 20 bucks. And it pains me to say that as I love all fighting games.

This game is just ugly. I can't stand what they did to Wonder Woman and Batman... Wow... I love super heroes, but I just don't like the way this game looks and I don't like the stiff animations. I guess I will stick to UMvC3 where they actually captured the comic elements of Marvel.

I've been having fun, and I don't even like these characters. After playing for a bit now, I think the stage stuff is fine competitively.

I don't know how the stage hazards are going to play out competitively but I will say it is fun as heck watching players battle for pig/dumpster advantage.

Man, I want to play Doomsday so bad.

His character trait seems so fun(cheap), and he is like a weird playable mix of Shao Khan and Goro.

I don't get the hate for this games looks. I think it's really great and I'm not a huge fan of dc or nether realm. I'll be getting this day one.

The only thing that looked ugly to me in this game was Wonder Woman.

Overall, I enjoyed the demo. It was pretty much what I was expecting.

Not being a fan of DC might help a bit.

Like I said earlier, it looks pretty good on a technical level, but I hate the art direction.
