2013 Update:
• GOG page
• Desura page

I've been following this game for a while now and had lost all hope to be able to play it as it was only available in Czech, however according to its official website it's getting an English translation!

The game looks amazingly similar to an even more mature Diablo 2 or Divine Divinity.

Also Czeck should be Czech on the title...

I'll believe it when I see it, it's the DNF of localisation projects... Some people have preordered for years now iirc...

Their cz site still writes:
Anyone who pre-orders will be able to play the game at least two weeks before the official release of English version (Q1 2010).

So anyway, what's the news? New release date claimed or what?
Edit: ah, it's that they got the English site up. Ok.

Wow, it actually does look similar to Divine Divinity...

Though man... how often do we get genuinely good isometric RPGs anymore?

If nothing else, this makes me wanna replay Divine Divinity, which I still insist is one of the best CRPGs ever.

I hear you mate. Ever since I got DD on GOG I realised I held Diablo 2 way too high. Divine Divinity is just such a forgotten gem.

It really is. It's basically Diablo if it was a real RPG. The sense of exploration in that game was really pretty incredible, and the soundtrack? Don't even get me started on how good that was.

Wish there were more in a scifi setting.

Quite nice art, but man, 7 different types of magic for you to distribute points between? I really have no idea how people could see that and go "Yes! That's awesome".

It warms my heart to see all these kind of games getting made these days. I hope publishers take note and maybe, just maybe we'll someday get a AAA budgeted title worthy of the genre. For now I'm more than happy to play these lesser known, smaller budget ones.

Also, Divine Divinity is great (except for the title that is). I've played it right after Divinity 2, but DD is simply the superior game, even after all these years.

Add Throne of Darkness, it's got a samurai demons type setting, 7 classes, and had various multiplayer modes which I never tried. I remember it being quite boring, clunky and repetitive, so I didn't play it much but I'll probably reinstall it at some point to make sure, I wasn't much of a PC gamer yet at the time. You control or switch between party members in single player iirc.

Here! Having 7 schools of magic isn't really that many, I'm playing Arcanum right now and that has 16.

Anyway, the environments in this game look fantastic.

So they're just going to release it? Without doing a Kickstarter? Bold new territory, my friends.
I haven't seen a Kickstarter for a translation... Though there are probably are some.

Their preorders might as well have been a kickstarter though, lol, people have been waiting for ages.

Hi guys.

Argonis: The proofreading of the ingame text is still running. The non-dialogue text has been proofread already and we are working on the priest's text now (about 95 % done), after that we will also have to go through paladin's and thief's texts - but since those are mostly derivations of the priest's text it shouldn't take that long. There is a possibility we could run beta (an opportunity for those who pre-paid the game to play it in advance and also to make the last fine-tuning of the translation) over the summer holidays...

Has anyone actually played this? If so, how is it? How did it review? Is it party-based (like the first screen makes it look)?

Sounds awesome! I hope it comes through, as I have just gotten back into crpgs again after many years.

Wait, Arcanum is a Diablo clone? I was under the impression it was basically Fallout in a steam punk/ high fantasy setting.

It's not a Diablo clone, it's party-based and you can choose between turn-based and real-time combat.

Has Arcanum been on sale yet? Might pick it up. GoG really should have an option to send emails about games on your wishlist being on sale.

And to be on topic, I'll echo this because I'm curious:

Is there any concrete details yet on how this is going to be distributed?
