Zimmer rule is one decent to good soundtrack every year, impressive....the problem is he composes like 6 movies a year.

One would think he'd save the best for Nolan, since Interstellar's music is too good for our little PC speakers according to him.

lol...the salt is real.

comic fanboys love that term. i'm just baffled that whedon fooled critics into liking his script.and it's proof positive that RT is such a weird metric for reviews. it's better to read the actual reviews themselves than look at the number. you start to get a better feeling of what the movie might be like.

it's a problem with all blockbusters on RT tbh. especially cartoons and comic book movies. they have to be very divisive to get below 80.

All that needs to be said. In Nolan I trust.

All that means is 92 percent of people liked Avengers to varying degrees, not that each one would rate it 92 of 100. And I think the average rating of 8/10 is a pretty fair assessment of the movie.

oh wait, I mean, Whedon, dumb quips, avengers is shit, based craft services, etc.

Or you just salty that you liked Goyer script but not the critics.

stop it slime. i thought man of steel kinda sucked . go back to the mcu thread.

i admit it was a mistake to bring up the avengers if this is gonna turn this OT into a comic book movie debate. please no, don't do this. i'm sorry.

Remember guys...

The night is darkest... just before the dawn.
Yeah, it'll be okay.. All okay

How could Nolan forsake us like this?

This seems like the sort of movie that would be cool to see in IMAX, but I'm not a fan of super loud movies -- my hearing is bad enough as it is.

Have the reviews that mention hard-to-hear dialogue primarily been about IMAX showings? I'm wondering if the normal showings tend to be better.

Also mentioned the audio problems:
So basically if the reviewer saw it at the TLC Chinese IMAX, they are giving the movie a negative review, citing they couldn't hear the dialog/understand the plot?

I wonder if other movies have gotten negative reviews due in part to technical issues at screenings for critics.

Precedent has been set.

Would not worry about the negative reviews in the slightest.

Just enjoy the movie fellas.

Why does it have to be the greatest movie of all time? Its like we need positive reviews to validate our opinion before we have even seen it.

Also - there was huge hype prerelease for The Dark Knight Rises which turned out to be donkey shit. So it works both ways.

This actually makes me excited for the movie even more.

I mean, it's a win-win situation for me. If it's a great Nolan movie as always (well, with maybe the exception of TDKR) then obviously I'll have my money's worth.

If not, then I'll finally experience the pleasure of tearing a Nolan movie a new one.

Hopefully big budgets have not made Nolan gone off the deep end, while his newer movies are still good, they don't compare to his old stuff imo...

Im always surprised by the backlash for Inception... I absolutely see a lot of the flaws people are talking about but I don't think anyone has made anything as adventurous as Inception in the last decade when talking about big budget movies.

I still have fun watching the movie despite its short comings.

As far as Nolan mishits go, its really just Dark Knight Rises for me. The Dark Knight is still a heck of an action movie and Batman Begins holds up so well after all these years.

More comments on the Score:

It's exciting to hear just how out-of-his-comfort-zone Hans Zimmer is here, and it works to the movie's advantage. It feels like a score written from a very direct and emotional place, and it helps cement the yearning that underpins so much of what Nolan shows us in the film. There are some astonishing large scale set pieces here, but it's not really an action movie in a conventional sense - Hitfix review

Unsurprisingly, the below-the-line achievements of the film are significant and ought to be in the thick of the awards race. Right at the top, Hans Zimmer's score is probably the best one he's ever done for a Nolan film, inspired by church organ motifs and going to places I just wouldn't have expected. Interestingly enough, the score's beginnings share in that macro/micro thematic construct that appears to be evident in so much of the movie - In Contention

I trust Kris, so I'll give Zimmer a chance to shine once I see the film. It will be really hard tho.

Zimmer definitely does too much nowadays and the quality pays for it. It's a shame too, because he's a genius.

Can I respectfully disagree? When he doesn't have a team of 10 fools composing for him like he always does, he's ok to decent. Inception was his last great score and before that, I have a serious issue coming with a movie to name. It's pretty subjective, but I personally find his work to lack quite a lot of emotional punch when needed. Too much style and electronics over substance.

Edit: I really liked his work on Hannibal. He did some scary shit there.

I think Zimmer's Pirates 3 score is his last great work. He showed phenomenal range on that score, but the movie itself was shit. It featured his gaggle of collaborators though, don't even know when that guy puts out purely original stuff any more.

Rush was stunning. People keep ignoring Rush. I don't know why. Zimmer worked his ass of on that.

Also, people who hate on Zimmer and keep dick riding James Newton Howard, what about his subpar work on Hunger Games 1 and 2, Snow White and the Huntsman and Bourne Legacy? Completely ignore those, don't you.......

The fuck you talking about? JNH's Huntsman score elevated that movie into something modestly enjoyable. Shit was real good.

Rush already got mentioned. Also, I'd direct your attention to both Kung Fu Panda films. The Chinese influences are delightful and respectful of the culture, while the overall soundtrack meshes perfectly with the fast paced action sequences.

And uh... hey, I think Inception was good.

Zimmer's work on Sherlock Holmes was great.

69% is pretty average. sounds like this is the spiritual successor to the dark knight returns, i.e. shit. might skip this one and watch that ouija board film instead.

I remember a time when Rottentomatoes wasn't complete shit. Their layout was better. Used to be they only added the "critics consensus" after they had a substantial number of reviews...you know, an actual CONSENSUS.
