Okay, now I'm soldFucking INTENSE.
There's one scene in particular that even people who had problems with the movie were like 'holy shit'.
Like it was undeniably insane. Which is weird, because I think Nolan is usually shit at creating genuine tension during action scenes.
It was mixed-ish. I think people who didn't like it as much struggled with the last act.
I think everyone was bullish about the movie's ambition. It's a big movie about big ideas.
As in they didn't understand it?
That's weird, some of the reviews said that the 3rd act was the strongest part of the movie (with the 2nd one being the weakest due to the exposition).
Well I loved it. Some people felt it tied things up a little too easily. I disagree.
The reviews make it sound disappointing, but I'm still watching it. Probably not this weekend, though. I want to watch that one new Keanu Reeves movie and also Fury first.
Oh snap, that's right. For some reason I thought it came out this Friday. Hmm...It's not out this weekend
Looks like Nolan's in trouble

I've read in reviews that the final act is incredibly bizarre and "trippy". Is this accurate?
Yep, that's why I loved the absolute shit out of it.
It was. There was a lot of backlash from the year before when TDK hadn't been nominated. The Academy saw the expansion of the field as a means of drawing in the masses by putting their favourite hit moneymakers in the horse race.
I dig Bilge's writing and his taste, but full disclosure: he was a huge fan of The Dark Knight Rises.whoa

Those who saw the movie already, were the practical effects on the same Whoa level as the Inception hallway fight or TDK truck flip?
Expect a positive review from this Major critic
Peter Travers ‏@petertravers
Jessica Chastain’s right hook=no Interstellar spoilers but her space epic=nirvana for film addicts & she kills in it
Travers likes everything. He's a bit of a quote whore.

With Interstellar, Nolan’s reach occasionally exceeds his grasp. That’s fine: These days, few other filmmakers dare reach so high to stretch our minds so wide. And our senses, all of them. At times, dispensing with Hans Zimmer’s pounding organ score, Nolan shows a panorama of the shuttle in the heavens — to the music of utter silence. At these moments, viewers can hear their hearts beating to the sound of awe.
Interstellar contemplates nothing less than our planet’s place and fate in the vast cosmos. Trying to reconcile the infinite and the intimate, it channels matters of theoretical physics — the universe’s ever-expanding story as science fact or fiction — through a daddy-daughter love story. Double-domed and defiantly serious, Interstellar is a must-take ride with a few narrative bumps.
LOL how many times are we going to hear "Nolan's reach exceeds his grasp" from critics?
His own quotes working against him!
Exactly.Oh hell no. I'd rather a director's reach exceed his grasp than deliberately aim lower for easier results.
Cereality: 4/10

That review was very positive but still that was the 3rd time I have seen that quote being used in reviews. LMAO!Oh dear. *Prepares for onslaught of reviews trying to prove they're cleverer than the movie."

The Nolan defense force needs to stahp
I honestly cannot tell from reading some of these reviews if this is Nolan's best movie and potential Oscar candidate movie or if it's just a slightly better Inception. There really is nothing to defend, a lot of it is very divisive stuff but everyone seems to agree that you have to experience the movie first hand. The Nolan defense force needs to stahp

No one's calling anyone out. Only thing people are commenting on are their writing style and use of quotes. And this applies to both positive and negative reviews (the latest reach/grasp quote was used in Time magazine which was a very positive review). If you are calling out critics based on their opinions of a movie they've seen and you haven't, you might be a defense force member.
No one's attacking anyone here.
The same people posting positive reviews are also posting the negative ones. If you want to whine about a defense force then wait until November when you'll actually have real things to complain about.
One positive is that Richard Linklater is all the more likely to win the Best Director Oscar now.

I know Paramount is doing everything they can to help IFC out with the awards campaign for Boyhood, but I just don't see the film being up the alley of most voters.
