I saw this the other day and I thought it was one of, if not the best film I've ever seen. It really impressed me. I'll probably go see it again soon.

Music was loud, music was great. Appropriately loud at most parts, for example the launch. Overall, fucking great film right there. Hard to watch with your bros though, specially the last part.

Saw this last night at local IMAX. Friends who had seen it had warned me that it wasn't very good. Me, my wife and daughter absolutely loved it one of the best films I've seen seems to be a very divisive movie.

Saw it in IMAX Digital and liked it but I can see it being very controversial. I would have loved if some parts of the old 2008 script would have been more present
Like the Black Hole Space Station, which I find much cooler then the final tesseract explanation
. Slashfilm had a great article about the script differences.

In terms of Nolan ranking:

Prestige
Memento
The Dark Knight
Interstellar
Inception
Batman Begins
The Dark Knight Rises
Insomnia
Following

Soundtrack is just from another universe ...

Just the mountains track is giving me chills, seeing TARS in action etc...

Such a progressive escalation

My favorite part too, you just could feel the desperation and the intensity.

Yup the movie soundtrack was also distinct with me, I thought it was excellent. My buddy told me Zimmer wanted to try something a bit different because he was getting criticized for having very similar stuff over and over.

I think he nailed it.

Not really, the inception and dark knight motives are very prevalent in the soundtrack. Especially the first half of it.

Saw it for a 3rd time tonight and loved it just as much. The cinema was pretty full and i haven't seen a reaction that positive to a movie for quite a while. Was a really good night.

It really helped coming into this movie after my engineering buddy ( satellites specialist ) gave it a pass on the science stuff. Just completely took me into the film knowing how plausible most of it is. Absolutely stunning stuff. It was emotional, it was brave, it was grounded. Just stunning, I really don't get the detractors. And the length felt perfect. What happened to the age of seeing a true experience on film? Also helped my favorite movie is 2001: a space odyssey, from which many cues where taken in this film throughout. Bravo Nolan brothers and Zimmer, bravo.

Didn't really dig the soppy love stuff and was bored with the
poltergeist bookshelf
. Decent movie but it lost me a few places along the way.

I came in not expecting much (I think I barely watched a trailer of this), but I came out in awe. The only thing I knew about the movie was that they hired an astrophysicist to check the science of the film so it could be as accurate as possible. Now, I really want to know more about the science behind the scenes, and to see which parts of the movie were based on speculation and which were not. Space and science are just freaky, man. I understand the concepts, but damn, it's hard to wrap your fingers around them.

To be honest, the only thing jarring for me so far was
Brant(?) suddenly talking about love. Sure, it had a point, but it was pretty cheesy and jarring at the moment, but it eventually made sense for me in the end.

Also, somewhat enjoyed the philosophical discussion on "god" in the film. We were recently talking about this in a philosophy class how god might not be a "god" but simply a being that is beyond four dimension, and as such, have a hard time communicating humanity because we can only perceive in three dimensions. I loved how that concept came to play here with Matt's character trying to talk to Murph.

I just seen this last night. Still haven't processed it all but I do know I liked the movie more by the end of it. I thought the setup was weak when they were on earth.
NASA should've come and found his ass if he was the last capable pilot and the bookshelf saying STAY would still make sense.

I loved how I questioned some of the character's motivation until the end.
I was wondering why Murphy would hold a grudge for so long.

I inexplicably hate Anne Hathaway and avoid all movies with her. I didnt do any research going into this movie and didn't realize it was her until the end and I still hate that bitch! I couldnt stand Brand and it all made sense in the credits.
I hope she fuckin rots on that planet all alone.

*snipped out part of post*.
Why would you not spoiler tag the end of your post but spoiler tag other parts? I haven't seen it yet but I feel like you just ruined something. Hopefully not.

Finally seeing it tonight. I'm going in expecting to be disappointed so maybe that will increase my enjoyment.

As someone that loves scifi and especially these semi realistic scifi movies I absolutely loved this. Ending was maybe a bit out of there
(but considering that we don't really know what is in black hole it didn't bother me that much that they made stuff up).
but otherwise fucking great movie. It would be so great if we could get five movies like this in a year instead of those endless superhero movies that are all like copies of the same movie with just different characters.

I enjoyed the movie, didn't love it or hate it. I am a bit bummed it didn't focus on exploring uncharted territory in space, I was really hoping it would be about that. There are certainly amazing moments in the movie but I feel a lot feels flat. I should look a bit into at what previous people have discussed in regards to inaccurate things, but I was able to kind of accept most things.

The only thing what I really didn't get is how you can possibly control a watch like that with gravity which is what he supposedly controlled. Pushing books doesn't really make sense for me either.

Half of it was boring, the other half was boring and stupid. Easily the worst Christopher Nolan film yet. Truly amazed The Dark Knight Rises has been surpassed already.

The whole bookshelf thing had me rolling my eyes so hard they fell out of my skull.

Where are the inaccuracies discussed? I enjoyed the movie but saw some questionable moments. Would like to know if Kip Thorne addressed any questions.

It's best you guys watch the Science of Interstellar documentary Discovery did on the movie if you haven't. It's up there on YouTube. 44 mins.

Thanks. I googled the movie and read that Kip admitted to the hand waving. Doesn't really bother me as I shut off my brain to enjoy movies anyway.

Just curious if
it was mentioned why wasting fuel rotating the station was necessary. My friend said to keep the muscles from atrophy but wouldn't that happen with 8 months of sleep anyway? Probably just done cuz it was done in 2001?

Saw the movie for the first time tonight and I don't know if it was my theater or not, but the MUSIC and SOUND EFFECTS were too loud and drowned out the dialog. Hella distracting. Any way, I left the theater entertained, but had to seriously roll my eyes at the ending.

Oh, forgot to mention the soundtrack. My god was that soundtrack amazing.

Wow, just finished seeing this in IMAX 70mm. Absolutely incredible, one of the best movies I have ever seen.

So many times through the movie I just got chills down my spine from the music and the fact that I was seeing things that I had long thought about when reading books about astrophysics and such tied into a story.

I guessed MM was the ghost pretty early on and they made it pretty obvious that "them" had to be us but this did not detract from the experience for me at all and I was really impressed at how they tied it all together.

Head to the spoiler thread to learn more about the movie.

I understand almost everything that happened in the movie, or at least I think I do. That's actually one of the things I loved about it so much. It's such a long, interesting story but it isn't totally convoluted and pretty easy to follow along. I loved everything about this movie up until the very end,
after Cooper goes into the black hole.

Everything before that was a masterpiece.

^why didn't you like it?

ehhhh the typical
black hole contains a magical window that allows you to interact with the past oh and guess what it was us from the future the entire time thing. It was a decent ending but I don't like that they pulled that trope(s).

Ah, you should definitely give the spoiler thread a read, might take a while, thread is mighty long now.

the organs in coward are reminiscent of exorcist's soundtrack. jesus christ this soundtrack might be zimmer's best since thin red line even.

it's like he made a score for a horror film and decided to give it to interstellar. like the track mountains has a lot of suspense to it.

I'm skimming through it actually.

Not really related but something I found really funny was the audience's reaction after the movie was over. It was just complete silence. Everybody just got up out of their seats and quietly made their way to the exit. It was hilarious and eerie at the same time. I'm not sure if it was because the ending
was kind of anti-climactic
or if most people were in the same situation as me where my buddies weren't the types to appreciate a slow movie.

I still heard people praising the film but there wasn't that usual loud chatter after a movie ends.

The reactions vary, I remember when Gone Girl ended, most people just bailed without saying a word, so fast like they have meetings somewhere later.

There were more chatter during Interstellar than after when I saw it.

Sorry, not singling you out, but people projecting their views to the audience around them to make a point of their own views is getting dumb.
