This movie, for me, has the opposite effect that other Nolan movies like TDK/TDKR/Inception did, where I kinda sour on it a while after watching it. I care less and less about Interstellar's flaws.

<3

It's just a beautiful film. One of those rare 'THIS is what it means to be human' that art nails every now and then.

Just nothing but massive respect to Nolan & co. for this.

Just watched this. The story had its stupid moments but it still hit me on the feels and overall I really liked the movie. Will probably take few years before I can watch it again though, because of the length.

NECA is releasing a line of Interstellar figures. They just showed off Cooper and Brand at the UK toy fair.

They're showing off more on 2/14 at the toy fair in NYC. There better be a TARS figure.

If they get TARS figure that says "Everybody good? Plenty of slaves for my robot colony?", I'm there day one.

I work at a place where I am pretty much able to watch all kinds of movies all day and have now rewatched Interstellar a few times, specifically the crucial scenes like the 5th dimension. I love this movie. Now that I have rewatched it (with subtitles) I finally understand it and am seriously impressed by it. I personally don't see any glaring plotholes and think this is just a smart, beautifully made movie.

If this and Sunshine had a baby it would be my favorite movie of all time. Right now they are neck and neck as my favorite scifi/space movie. Can't wait to get this on bluray. Debating getting the collector's edition now.

edit: there's a Target Steelbook? Nevermind. Preordering right now.

edit2: That is an ugly cover. They could have done much better for the steelbook. Anybody know if I will be able to simply pick it up in stores when it releases? Don't want to pay shipping..

edit3: dammit..looks like I will instead by buying the neocase from Walmart. Prefer steelbooks but the artwork and bonuses are too good

He first tells her to Stay . Only after understanding his role in the Tesseract is to "set things right" he gives her the coordinates as well as the data.

More behind the scenes on the Docking sequence

As VFX supervisor Paul Franklin explained, "The opening shots of Dr. Mann reversing into the airlock on the side of the Endurance were accomplished with the miniatures with the full size Ranger [from New Deal Studios], which we used for the foreground elements and then the 1/15 scale miniature of the Endurance for the moment when we see the Ranger entering the docking port. That involves very precise motion control work by New Deal. They had to reconcile the movement of the motion control camera with the live-action camera that Chris had shot on the full-size model."

"For those final moments when Cooper maneuvers under the spacecraft and looks up, this is a classic instance of Chris getting as much in-camera as possible," Franklin continued. "So first off, we had our projection screens running everything outside of the cockpit windows, and when you see the horizon of the planet whipping past, that's an in-camera projection with a digitally-animated planetary horizon flying past. So there is no additional compositing to create the planet there. And when you're looking through the window and you can see the great, big pipe of the airlock floating above the windows, that's a full-size motorized airlock piece that special effects built. And it's on a motorized crane being lowered down onto the set so that when you're looking through the windows you can see this thing spinning above us. We match-moved that and added the rest of the Endurance as a CG background."

Wasn't he telling himself to stay?

Off course. Bad phrasing.

I remember after the teaser came out, it was reported that a few of the shots were actually made by the crew as opposed to it being stock footage. Cool to see that Cooper was in the teaser.

Is this also McConaughey in the 34 second mark? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=827FNDpQWrQ

This one ?

I think this is Alan Shepard in the Freedom 7 mission (http://discoverykids.com/videos/americas-first-astronaut-discovery-space/).But there's actually some strange resemblance with Mcconaughey

Saw this again last night for the third and final time in theaters. It gets better each time. Actually the picture went out for a few minutes last night which was hilarious because it was the ghetto theater and tickets were $3.50 (not a matinee showing) but still the theater had about 12 people.

I really love this movie. It's the first time I've seen a movie more than once in the theater since Avatar and the first movie I've seen 3 time since The Matrix Reloaded.

It's a beautiful and emotional film. Maybe a little ham fisted but genuinely great. It also makes a lot of sense after repeated viewings. When I first saw it back in November it didn't make any sense to me. It's good. Good movie. I went to the theater about 6 times his year and three of them were this movie.

Completely agreed. I cried a little bit the second time I saw it. Absolutely beautiful film. My favorite this year by far.

Can't wait for the home release

Bonus for me

I would have gotten my wife Murphy's watch, but only 10 were made and returned back to Hamilton

Interstellar, for all it's flaws, has nonetheless been rambling around in my head more than any other movie from 2014, and inspired more thought than any other I saw.
Can't be a Nolan film without having to do some homework after watching them. Took me weeks to completely understand Inception and I still haven't figured out most of Memento.

I haven't seen Memento, but what was so crazy about Inception? Seemed pretty straight forward for me first time through.

I've seen it twice. First time I enjoyed it but was slightly meh because my expectations of the plot was very different (I was thinking a direct flight to Alpha Centauri or something, not a wormhole).

However second time it all clicked much better, I appreciate it much better after going the second time, I suppose already knowing how the film would pan out helped me look at it a bit more objectively.

Yep, me too. I enjoyed both Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain America: Winter Soldier more overall, but Interstellar is the one that made me think about it for weeks (months) afterwards. I still think about it whenever I play Elite Dangerous. Can't wait to buy the blu ray and see it again.

That reminds me.

sorta funny story but a buddy of mine works for Tag Heuer and he worked at one of their outlet stores for a while and Leo's people came in and asked them to take down any of his advertisements because he didn't want to be associated with an "outlet" store. So my friend kept one of the standees which is a huge, like 8 foot by 8 foot picture like the ones in the above that he keeps in his garage. I keep trying to get him to sell it to me but no dice.

Oh man. I seriously might try to see this. Fucking work though.

Yes! Just the other day I was thinking about how I haven't been this excited for a movie to come out on DVD/Blu-ray, but then I got sad because I knew I would probably never get to experience again in all its IMAX glory. Watching at home and watching in theaters is just so different. Especially for a movie like this.

Now it's like the universe responded and I get one more experience with this masterpiece! Thanks universe!

Yeah, I'm definitely sad to not be able to experience in theaters again. I'm actually thinking about a mini home theater in the house for this kind of thing, it would be worth it. Part of the strength of some of the scenes were in the audio of the film. At least for me.

If you live near one of these IMAX theaters, you can see Interstellar one more time on February 21.

When INTERSTELLAR came out last year, seeing it in IMAX was a must. The experience was completely amazing. So we're happy to report that it's coming back for a special encore presentation!

Next Saturday, February 21 at 3pm, INTERSTELLAR returns in its full IMAX glory at select AMCs, followed by 12 minutes of never-before-seen footage.

Even better, when you buy one ticket to this encore showing, you get the second one free! This deal is only available at the box office, so make sure to get there early to avoid being sold out. Plus, the first 300 guests at the showing will take home a gorgeous, limited edition set of INTERSTELLAR prints.

Don’t miss your chance to revisit INTERSTELLAR, or see it in IMAX for the first time. Go to the box office and prepare for take off!

Wow was watching the BAFTAs, Interstellar won best special effects and the music was playing and it made me well up inside. Such a powerful OST. I also noticed that my football team Chelsea have used it for a video that plays on the big screens pre-match.

Can't wait for the Blu-Ray now. Watched it 2 times at IMAX, but I want to see it yet again :D.

Also my Mum doesn't like Sci-Fi films but I'm going to try and force her to watch it because I think the Father-Daughter storyline will get to her. The main reason I like the film is the Sci-Fi, but now that I think about it that Father-Daughter storyline, being tied to the physics of time dilation, is really, really good and not in the "good for a Sci-Fi film" kind of way, but actually objectively good in and of itself.
