And that Steam base their stats on hardware that was used years and years ago sounds a bit silly to me. If true, I wonder how far back they go? Will my old 4830, 560ti and 660ti count if I answer the survey today?

Maybe 3rd party controllers play a part? For example, both my 8bitdo controllers show up as 360 when in xinput mode.
Quickly responded to the first sentence of your post, then I re-read it......Ding Ding Ding......That was a survey since 2018 and as you said if you use a third party controller in Xinput mode it registers as a 360 controller......360 was the dominant controller in the 360/PS3 days, no one is denying that, but how many people still have a 360 controller hooked up to their PC's, very few I'll say.....Since steam made adding a DS4 like second nature on the platform, everybody's been using DS4's, since more people have PS4 and even in that old survey DS4 already had more registrants over XBONE, farless for now.....

Needs backpeddals and I don't like the color. Other then that, an improvement. Shame that the console will probably share this color scheme. Looks toy-ish

Retail packaging leaked....

Will be interesting to see how they track these perhaps inside-out tracking from the new VR headset? Would make sense with the light bar being on top of the controller now.
Spot on question, where's the tracking hardware? No way psvr2 will be light based like psvr1.

DS4 was almost perfect, just needed to be little bigger to have a bigger battery. This one looks more premium. It has haptic feedback and adaptive trigger having said that looks really ugly to me.

Not thrilled with the color scheme, but I imagine there will be variants released that look better. Hopefully the battery life is improved.

That's my biggest problem, like I kind of felt that in general these products were moving away from the jarring toy aesthetics, and that doesn't seem to the be the case here. Basically all my consoles are black, they all fade into the background, when I'm looking at the TV they don't distract the eye. This is much like when I bought a Switch I got the all gray one because why on earth would I want really loud red and blue colors on each side of the screen steering my gaze...

The console itself being white is a problem for me, but even worse in my view is if it's white and black and has weird white angles and placement of white and black which makes it really stand out. White can be subdued on its own when uniformed, but when you introduce angles, contrasting black or colors it just stands out like a sore thumb. This design to me reeks of "Gamer Gear" or eSport culture design trends, not my bag.

This is what I see in a nutshell.

Pfft, that white xbox360 hard drive edition still looks the biz in my entertainment unit.

But yes, pulling it off again is no guarantee.

I dont like the collor

White, black and blue?

Is this going to be the default console sold to customer?

Also Dual Sense sounds stupid

Why dont just called it Dualshock 5

The design look great tho

Yeah thats not true. Xbox controllers far outweigh PS4 controllers on Steam. Why do you think devs almost always use Xbox prompts in PC games?. Its alright having your conspiracies about 3rd party controller being recognized by Steam as 360 controllers, but you only have to read Steam forums to see people use Xbox controllers far more.
As for your no one uses 360 controllers on PC anymore' bullshit with zero evidence, i still have a 360 controller hooked up as some older games can have problems with modern XB1 controllers.

Generally the system follows the design cues of the controller, so be prepared. On the back of this alone I'll wait the year or whatever time it is for an all black system to come out.

Also Dual Sense makes sense, I mean it's kind of pretentious, but the Dual Shock got its name because of rumble, this gets its name because of advanced rumble (haptics).

I really like the design but it looks like that there is no audio jack anymore? So even they use USB-C adapters it's just a single port or am I missing something?

Do you have any examples? I haven't touched my 360 controllers for a couple of years and did not looked back. maybe you just need to update the firmware on your X1 controllers?

I can't stop seeing a bug eyed alien with glowing antenna in the black part.
It's freaking me out man.

Cant remember which games, but i'm talking older games, from before XB1 was even out. I have had the odd problem where a certain button or trigger doesnt work in a game, then looked on the Steam forums and seen other people say the same. Like i said, i'm talking old games. Any game from 2013 onwards has had zero problems with my XB1 controller.

interesting they wanted to keep the touchpad, a rather useless feature, apart from that the color scheme doesn't tick with me at all. white???

I like it a lot, looks so sexy and smart.
""DualSense so you can truly feel the tension of your actions, like when drawing a bow to shoot an arrow "" this is cool.
not starting console war, but that has been there on the xone triggers since launch, only a couple of devs actually used it. even the switch with their HD rumble so this here is Sony again masking things already done as novel.

This controller is awesome. I wonder if the console has a dual color tone too
Pretty sure it will mimic the controller color scheme.

Anyways, I FUCKING LOVE IT!!! I'm so sick of black, I love the plastic white color this controller gives. Every ps for the past 20 years has been black - same for xbox.

FINALLY a new color!! Something tells me the ps5 will look really futuristic!

What's this bullshit that you're pushing?

Xbox One triggers had haptic feedback functionality?

I'm starting to think that the colour scheme is there because if it was just one color, it would be too obvious that it looks like an Xbox controller.

I think the DualSense is going to push that concept of adaptive feedback to the next level.

That whole "pulling an arrow from a bow" part is hinting towards Horizon Zero Dawn 2 ;)
Sounds cool to be fair, but like i said i always turn it off. Didnt used to, but maybe i have had enough of it subconsciously lol.

With an integrated battery these things better not be more expensive than the DS4 cause I know I'm gonna end up having to buy like 4 of them throughout the generation again.
Why? I use the original that comes withy the console day one and another that brought a month after... both are pretty good yet.

Xbox One controllers use something called "Impulse Triggers":

Also I just discovered this MS patent from a year ago that describes "adjustable-tension triggers":

Seems to be similar to what the DualSense is doing. I wonder why/if they dropped it?

Actually Xbox 360 controller have more use in Steam.
Xbox One controller is a bit below DS4.

Yeah i know, it was TLW that tried to mkae out 'no one uses 360 controllers on PC anymore'. Besides that Steam chart was from 2018, XB1 and DS4 willl be a higher percentage by now.

I think the ds5 is an indication of the color pattern of the ps5.

The ds5 design is very intricate not run of the mill plain single color.
There os a lot going on here therefor i believe this design pattern will continue on the actual console.

I like the new light "bar". A little worried It'l catch some dust at some point, seeing it's in some some sort of small ditch/trench. Liking the larger L1 and R1 buttons, finally.
Starts to resemble the looks of the Xbox controller, which is not a bad thing at all.

Can't say I like the colour scheme shown here. It's a 50/50 on that part for me.

Internal battery sucks ass and is anti consumer... Great to see my pad will die after few years. With normal AA I get to choose if I want to use normal batteries or rechargables. And AA last much longer

Ok so we have tempest 3d audio for our hearing sences

We have ds5 for our sences to feel

And the 9.2 at best case for our eyes?....

I guess we get 2 out of 3. Not too bad

Same here i think the PS5 will have similar color to this
