Cheers after my galaxy s8 plus getting more sluggish with every software update I want back into the apple eco system.

This does feel like a typical Apple public prototype like the first gen iPhone (no 3G), iPad (lack of iPad native apps for the first year, no camera, thick, weighs a ton) and MacBook Air (Christ, where to start).

I'll be getting the iPhone 8 and watching where Apple go with the X template going forward. The (predicted) price and tech compromises just don't match the ambition. Yet.

Yep. So I’m going in fully prepared to either get the model down (7S/8) or jump full in expecting to refresh in a year.

If the other models have the wireless charging, same CPU same camera updates, then the main reason to go for the premium device is the screen, and the willingness to trade touchID for faceID (which may be a positive, neutral or negative trade)

Doesn’t scream 'worth a couple hundred dollars more' - but let’s see what they come up with.

It's basically all camera improvements for me. The new display looks great, but it's not a must-have feature for me. My iPhone upgrade path has always been predicated on an improvement of camera features. If there are exclusive features on the X, it's going to be a tempting upgrade despite the price. If the 8 is just as good, I'll be saving an easy couple hundred.

I am excited to see what the "film mode" means, if anything.

I wouldn't know. I've only be using apple pay for 2 weeks and I use my thumb to activate it. I didn't even know face ID was a thing on the iphone. I have an iphone SE. How do I use face ID?

First you use Apple Pay with your iPhone SE to buy an iPhone X.

Then you can use Face ID.
