Hey all, with iPhone 6 and 6 Plus releasing soon, I'm refreshing this tired old thread! Seemed appropriate to bump it. Included below, you will now find wallpapers fit for your brand-new 6 and 6 Plus.
As an added bonus for any Android-using readers, these are also compatible with the Galaxy S4 and any phone with a 1080x1920 display resolution!
Sadly, only a handful of these images play nice with parallax enabled, and finding images with a resolution that work with parallax in can be a bit of a nightmare, so that has limited my selection of such wallpapers at the time of this update.
And as noted below, any iPhone 6 wallpapers will work with your 5 and 5S, as they share the same aspect ratio.

Hey everyone! So, a new iPhone is about to came out, and with that, a new wallpaper thread. But I wanted to try something different.
Instead of having a new thread every time there's a change in screen size or pixel density (which is currently happening every 2 years), I wanted to make a thread for every model, updated every time there was a change while also including stuff for owners of older models, which I will have edited as time goes on.
Also, as it is relevant to the personalization of your device, ringtones and text tones can go here, as well, in an effort to consolidate your personalization interests.

To make sharing easier and to prevent the need to scroll multiple pages for that perfect wallpaper, I have created an album on Minus and a Google Drive directory that will be updated (at least) weekly with the wallpapers and tones posted in this thread. Links to other sites will also be added to the OP.

Before we begin, a few obvious rules:

1) Violent or sexual images of any kind will not be added to the links below, as I want to keep those albums as safe-for-work as possible. If you wish to share images of... let's say Kate Upton in a wet t-shirt and no bra, you're welcome to do so, but please do so in a link in your post, not an IMG tag. I'm not trying to be a prude, just want to keep things as clean and neutral (and within the site's ToS) as possible.

2) Please ensure that ringtones provided are ready-to-use in .m4r format. If you have a Mac, you can convert an audio file to an .m4r file using GarageBand, and there are multiple free programs on Windows that can do this conversion for you. As the iPhone speaker is not stereo, it may improve the sound output of your tones to convert them to mono for optimal sound quality in all situations.

3) Only images of the proper device aspect ratio will be added to albums (for iPhone 5 to iPhone 6 Plus, the aspect ratio is 9:16, with 1080x1920 being the minimum acceptable resolution for compatibility with all of those phone models). If you require assistance with editing an image, please ask for help and I'm sure a helpful GAFer can assist you.

OH, forgot to mention, I already populated the iPhone 5 album with a few images and threw all the tones I've made into the directory, so we're not exactly starting at square one.

When I have some time, I'll also go back through the old threads and add the content from them to this thread, if at all possible.

And remember, folks, sharing is caring. Don't just horde what you find here, contribute when you can.

For clarification, can we still post images that aren't the proper AR or exact iOS resolution but that still work as wallpapers (knowing they won't be added to the album)?

Sure, though people would probably appreciate not having to position an image because it's not the right ratio or search the thread to find it.
 
Here's the Pac Man one I did in the iPhone 4 thread. I'm in the process of updating it to fit the iPhone 5 resolution and will post that shortly.

I've included three versions. One with all the pellets, one with no pellets for those who feel it's too cluttered and one where it's partially played.

Things I want to point out in the design:

- Uses original arcade graphic assets
- The pellets run in between the apps
- Blue box outlines are covered when there is an app there but if missing, it will fill in the spot to not make the grid look funny when icons don't fill the screen
- The bottom part of the screen fits the number of screens and spotlight icon nicely in between them
- The top area where the score would be has all your phone info

I also finished uploading my whole collection of wallpapers for the 4 and the 5, although I regret that I removed some of the wallpapers I had for the 4 when I found larger equivalents for my new phone. In my defense, it was before I thought of making this thread!
 
I think i'll be converting my favorite 'compatible' (i.e. large enough) desktop/iphone/ipad wallpapers to the proper iPhone 5 dimensions later today. Probably more than a hundred. Good stuff in here so far, though.
 
Although thumbnails don't do them any justice, here's my contribution;



You can find them here. There are 150 in the preview above, but 'only' 76 in the album so far. I'll be uploading the rest tomorrow. (edit: 150+ now in the album) Like I said before, those are the various desktop/ipad/phone wallpapers i've accumulated over the years, so sorry that I can't give credit to the creators/link to the sources for some of the artful stuff.

Also, if anyone wants the original/desktop version of a specific image, just post it and i'll upload the original.

I've had hockey on my mind because of the lockout talk (odd, since I'm not a sports fan), it was in his avatar... yeah, I got confused and made the wrong one. He seemed pretty happy, though. LOL

This is as good a place as any to point out that you can now make ringtones directly on the iPhone using the GarageBand app. You can use any songs that are on your phone (you'll have to download iTunes Match songs before using them). It's not a very intuitive process, and GarageBand is clearly overpowered for such a simple task (unless you like remixing or doing mash ups or what have you). What's nice is that you can make a ringtone the default directly from the app, or even assign it to a specific contact. Annoyingly, though you can do the same thing on the iPad, and also assign a ringtone to a contact, it won't carry over to the phone.

I can make up a guide if anyone is having trouble.

^Yeah, that's one of the few I had to actually photoshop to fit. The raw image wasn't even iPhone 4 pixel highest.

You can hover over the lock icon to get a preview of how it'll look on the lock screen, or the apps icon to see how it looks as a home screen. Something i've always wanted from a wallpaper site, so I just did it myself. :p
 
I was bored so I decided to convert some of my favorite wallpapers to iPhone 5 backgrounds.

Also uploaded them to Sentry's tumblr so they'll be there too whenever they get around to it.

Oh man, I feel super bad about neglecting my upkeep on this thread, but since Dreams-Visions put his additions onto the linked Tumblr page in the OP, there wasn't much to do. Work caught up with me and have recently only been on GAF sporadically.

Oh well... OH! I have continued to update the wallpapers album with stuff I made/found, though. So yeah, new stuff, check it out.
