Is Battlefield 4 the worst thing EA has ever done to their customers?

Little love for EA. This is how they do. Jumped on game ruining microtransactions, Yearly sequels, the old EA spouse thing, simcity, unprecedented partnership...Hmm whats a good story about EA?

What would bioware be like today if they were picked up by someone other than EA? What would the mass effect series be like if it was someone else funding its development?

Edit: oh yeah, naming its wannabe steam service "origin." Not cool.

yep EA botched the launch..ok. Give them a couple weeks to sort it out. I imagine their servers are getting SLAMMED since BF4 was the best title either console launched with.

BF4 is probably the worst. Dragon Age 2, I disliked for several reasons but they were trying to do something. Sim City was a piece of shit but they eventually got that working, just turned out the game was hot shit. Battlefield 4 is actually something I want to play but can't cause it crashes every game. Haven't played it for a few days and it makes me angry as I want too but constant crashes are too annoying.
 
I would argue that buying and gutting Bioware of its founders is probably the worst they've done. Bioware is clearly a shadow of its former self. We shall see with Mass Effect 4 and Dragon Age III. Though that's something on my top list of eck. Simcity follows, and then not far behind is BF4. I would say TOR is pretty bad, those of us like my self who bought the collectors edition got shafted pretty hard.

I still can't believe that people are ok with multiplayer dlc, splitting the community is the absolute worst thing you can do for the players...

But I guess with matchmaking console shooters never had a community to begin with so they managed to weasel it in without people taking notice...

On a game with dedicated servers and a server browser (the only right way to do multiplayer) it's terrible to not be able to play with regular people because they have different dlc or didn't buy it

I actually do find that ridiculous. Because you're clearly now making stuff up that isn't true. If you preordered BF4 you got China Rising. End of story. Don't just make stuff up like, "they lied and never gave it to me" because they didn't. If you didn't receive it, call them up and provide information regarding that apparent issue.

Well, I paid for a preorder, got china rising "free", and I can't access it. So, am I allowed to complain?
 
I understand BF4 came with its fair share of problems and I don't deny the game was rushed but.. it doesn't come close to some of the product releases alluded to earlier in this thread. Among 3 friends of mine that are all playing BF4 since launch day on PC, I've had almost no crashing whatsoever except for maybe one crash between maps every couple of days; one friend had semi frequent crashing and one hasn't ever crashed. The 3rd is like me and infrequently crashed on map loads.

So while I'm not trying to dismiss all the game breaking bugs that did exist, I believe some people are applying them across the board to the game as a whole, when I suspect that there are lots of people out there like me who have had a very smooth game launch.

While it's true they haven't stopped, the PC version is probably one of the worst supported titles I've played. It's been over a month and there's some basic, basic shit here that hasn't even been patched yet. And the patches they do release don't fix what they were supposed to.

Fully agree Origin works fine. I'll gladly hate on EA where it's needed, but Origin has always worked well for me.
 
Not the worst they've done. If they release a sequel to BF2142 and botch that my homer vote will make that the worst, though.

Honestly I'm at a point where I'm more or less "boycotting" Activision and EA releases. My backlog is large enough and the titles they're putting odd chaff/shoddy enough that I don't care if I miss out, even if it's gradually working its way towards me missing out on 95% of releases as they devour dev houses whole.

The problems aren't equally distributed. If two different people have two vastly different experiences with BF4 then that doesn't make one or the other invalid. On that same token, the fact that some people are able to play just fine doesn't mean that the game doesn't have serious issues.

FWIW, this isn't even the buggiest BF launch I've seen. I feel bad for the console gamers though. The whole point of buying a console is not being forced to deal with this type of shit.

Nah. Titanfall is using the magical power of the cloud. I'm not saying Titanfall won't have issues, but it will be using Microsoft's Azure service. My guess is that was part of the exclusivity deal. Hopefully it works out better than BF4 has. If not, it's going to be a lot of really bad press for a new company, new IP and MS since they've spent so much time hyping both the game and their cloud services.

I haven't played BF4 but I would think that Sim City was going to be unbeatable in this ranking for years to come.

I haven't played Battlefield 4 but it has to REAL shitty to even come close.

So the one that deserves to disappear it's Nintendo because it offers polished, but not technically heart-breaking experiences. On the other hand, if graphics are good enough it's not a problem if the game is an unplayable mess, not only this won't make the mainstream crowd to refuse buying it but they will also double-dip for a half-patched version of it.

This is basically the reason this will be my last generation of consoles as a videogame player, unless Nintendo can pull decent profits from the WiiU and/or they doesn't change their philosophy of playability first.

Yes, it is. I see this excuse a lot. "Well DICE always has problems at launch".

These problems that EVERY SINGLE PLATFORM has been having with the game are far beyond the simple launch issues the previous games have had. The day one server overload issues, etc. - yeah, that's too be expected. But BF is plain fucking broken.

This is the last time I'll buy a DICE game. I was looking forward to Mirror's Edge 2 but any hope I had for it is gone. I couldn't even complete the SP for BF4 without jumping through hoops to make sure my save didn't get corrupted. Maybe if they do deliver with ME2 I'll pick it up at some point. Used.
 
Battlefield 3 and NFS most wanted on PC.

They decided that I'd played enough ,so I couldn't log on and play functional files to the game anymore.
 
Paid 60 euros for a broken piece of shit that is BF4. Fuck you EA.

Sim City, Mass Effect 3, Dragon Age 2, The Old Republic. Those are the latest, but I think people quickly forget when something new and exciting pops up. We don't learn from our mistakes and voting with your wallet doesn't mean anything these days.
 
I don't think BF4 is the worst thing they did. And I guess it keeps getting worse.
People will go nuts after they screw up Mirror's Edge 2 and many Star Wars games. Then add Mass Effect 4 to it is on.

I don't know if I want to keep playing the game like this. Even the fucking server browser is broken. Out of 10 Op. Locker games I tried to join in this last hour, 4 were near the end (less than 50 tickets to finish), 2 were already on the loading screen of Shanghai, 2 froze before the game began. I've managed to join 2 matches near the beginning, on those 2 matches the game crashed on me twice.

I'm not making this shit up. How hard is it to put an option to single out games near the end Dice? How hard is it to fix your fucking game without breaking something else in the process???

You guys are losing players over this, get your shit together!!!

Edit: Even fucking battlelog doesn't work, I can only see my stats, can't check my unlocks, change my loadout or anything else.
Ohhh and my K/D took a plunge from 3.25 to 3.12 while trying to do assignments that didn't unlock because of the crashes. Fuck you Dice.

This by far. Ruined the series for me.

Battlefield 4 is a complete trashy and rushed disaster. They wanted to chip away at Ghosts' sales on next-gen systems I assume. I'm not looking forward to EA Games if they're going to released buggy games and then have you patch the crap (literally) out of a game to be able to play it.

My newest issue is having a the multiplayer menu saying no one is playing so I can't join anyone's game.

Oh, and nevermind them removing the party system for joining games. Now we have to use outdated tech and ideas to jump in a game.
 
I have way more invested in the BF franchise, so this one stings pretty deep, but Sim City has to be up there too.

I'm just thankful I had the foresight to not buy their Premium bullshit, and I sure as hell will never preorder another DICE game.

So has anyone returned their copy for a refund or exchange of another game?

Seriously thinking of returning my PS4 copy since it's been a $60 coaster that hasn't worked as advertised from day one. I only bought two PS4 games so it'd be nice if I could play two games instead of one.
 
As one of the few people who have had a smooth multiplayer experience with BF4, I have to say that SimCity is worse. SimCity sucks even when it's working.
 
I haven't had all these terrible issues that other PS4 guys are experiencing, only minor annoyances that do not detract for how much I love the multi (lag and rubber banding). Its my favorite multiplayer since BC2.

I do think though that EA needs to bite the bullet and make China Rising free for everyone for two weeks, or however long, on all platforms before the end of the year.
