Is Battlefield 4 the worst thing EA has ever done to their customers?

Oh, and nevermind them removing the party system for joining games. Now we have to use outdated tech and ideas to jump in a game.

Yeah seriously...wtf is that?! I could deal with some rubberbanding. I could deal with the occasional crash, loss of progress, etc. But when you take out my ability to easily join up with friends, that just magnifies how much of a shitshow it is. The one in PS3 BF3 didn't really work so well, but at least it was there, and would occasionally do what it was supposed to. Now we have nothing.

I pumped in $110 for BF4 + Premium and its crap. Typically I don't buy the season pass thing but BF is (was) one of my favorite franchises and I regretted not buying Premium on BF3. Previously I have given EA a pass but no more. I'm not buying anymore EA products this generation. I feel cheated; I played $110 for a game that is unplayable a good majority of the time. While being disappointed I couldn't play the China Rising maps that I paid for in Premium, I decided I would give single player another shot. To my surprise I lost all my save data and had to start from the beginning again. WTF!!!!!!!

idk ive had very limited issues i crash maybe once every 3 days, the first couple of weeks were the worst with the actual server crashes and losing progress

as far as problems bumping into the DLC this stuff was all planned out ahead of time and worked on by other teams, so its not like they shipped the game and said 'DONE time to work on DLC!!!!

I haven't had much problems with BF4 on pc. I bought it last sunday tho so maybe all issues got fixed before. I got couple crashes but don't know if that's my pc or bf.

For me it was ok.
A few crashes here and there, not big deal.
We've seen worse.

Edit: PC, bought at launch. Not regretting it.

Blame DICE they are a shit ass developer who have a serial record of launching broken games and not patching them to an adequate state. Was only a matter of time before they had a major screw up like BF4.

They never fixed broken voice chat in Battlefield 1943 despite is being one of the most successful PSN games of all time.

They also never fixed input lag in Battlefield 3 PS3. They had a patch which slightly improved it only.

These two piss me off most but there is plenty more. Not to mention waiting months on months for basic balance patches to fix problems that should never exist. I just stopped buying their games full stop, but I feel sorry for the people who purchased BF4 in its broken state.

SimCity was running smoothly much sooner after launch than BF4. Speaking for myself, I have never felt more gypped and ashamed with a game purchase than I have with BF4.

Right at launch bf4 was a mess but I have not had many issues since the first week. I just stuck to 32/48 player maps till it got better. I am having lots of fun with it.

So that's why my single player saves kept disappearing? I was wondering what the hell was going on. first battlefield game I've ever bought and this crap happens smh

I'm a HUGE Battlefield fan! Battlefield games without a doubt consume the majority of my video game time.

With that said, Battlefield 4 is a fucking TRAVESTY!

I will NEVER buy another EA game at launch, ever! EA thinks that people will simply accept bullshit and will continue to support this kind of garbage? They are wrong!

If my patience with the Battlefield franchise has worn off, I can't even imagine how it is for everyone else who is a not a huge fanboy like me.

Fuck you EA, I hope you win the price for being the worst company in America for a 3rd year in a row, you deserve that honor!

Man I had no idea the game had so many problems :(

I bought it cuz it was like 25 bucks for the deluxe now I feel like I got ripped off and I wouldn't have bought it had I known :/

I think the whole PC release of Battlefield 4 is crazy and people should be real mad. A friend who posts here bought it day one for $59 or whatever and he still can't play because of crashing. Meanwhile I bought it for $20 this weekend.

I don't know worst but it is definitely up there and made me tired as a consumer of this and of EA. This has damaged my love for the series that I have maintained since I tried the very first demo of BF1942 many years ago.

I got BF4 with the premium pack.

I get kicked maybe 10% of the time. Certainly annoying, but I'm having a lot of fun with the game itself.

The one annoying thing is it can be a bit hard to find matches that aren't part of the quick-match (i.e. China Rising Conquest).

Still, the core game here is great which is more than can be said for some of their other fumbles.

I think Sim City is worse because the only reason it didn't work at launch was because EA demanded the game be online-only, even though a little modding showed that it was completely unnecessary. And then the online system didn't let people start a game. They rather sell people an unplayable game (literally) at launch rather than lose the control DRM gives them.

Well, another problem for me:

I tried to quickjoin a conquest game about 10 times in a row last night on the PS4. Every time it put me either into a deathmatch or team deathmatch mode.

And, of course, the server browser is still completely broken, so you can't use that.

Another night of not being able to play.

I think most Battlefield fans are aware that the game will be broken as all hell for the first month or so.

But Sim City? That was one prolonged slap across the face to every person who ever enjoyed that franchise. Just a clusterfuck of all the worst possible decisions - DRM, simplified reboot, atrocious artstyle, and they even blatantly lied about the need for the game to even be online.

Mass Effect 3 gets the silver, mainly for parsing out major story explanations in paid DLC.

Not making a third Boom Blox game gets a hearty bronze.

They should not be accepting of this though.

If I only want to play single player (PS4 version), are there any issues I need to worry about?

Apologies if this has been asked and answered already, I didn't see anything from a quick skim.

Single player is totally broken right now on the PS4 and XBO (and from what I can tell from this thread PS3 and 360 as well). The game will randomly corrupt or erase your save game.

Don't play it.

Ah, tits. I'll give it a miss for now then. Thanks for the heads up.

Well it seems that the release of the China Rising DLC onto a still broken game has broken it even more.

Great idea releasing the DLC before fixing the game. I just can't wrap my head around this level of incompetence and greed.

Upload your save to PSN after every level is completed for peace of mind, I wouldn't say it's unplayable.

Personally I've never had the game crash once on PS4, but hey I'm an anomaly.

SimCity is worse, Madden 06 is up there too, but BF4 is still very, very bad. I had no choice but to trade mine back into Best Buy yesterday after my campaign save file got corrupted for the 3rd time. BB is giving $40 in store credit for it at the moment FYI. I really wanted to enjoy the game but I had to cut my losses.

Made me giggle a bit:

DICE-PatrickBach took down server by reason: cba

And it's pretty much 100% fixed. What's your point? That harping on the past is a good thing? Please...

You're exhibiting a rather disconcerting "fuck you Jack, I got mine" mentality here.

Please stop dismissing the people who have problems, as if we didn't have as much a right to get a working product as you.

If I only want to play single player (PS4 version), are there any issues I need to worry about?

The main issue you have to worry about is that the single-player is the most intellectually insulting thing I've experienced in ages. It's terrible beyond any and all description and makes whatever nonsense IW came up with for Ghosts seem like a work of high art in comparison.

Does that work?

This isn't exactly reliable. I was doing that after the 3rd time the game erased my save file. When it corrupted it the fourth time, I immediately went to the cloud to get the one I had stored there and it was corrupt as well.

So does that still make it better than BF3 then? :p

My game froze when it was loading up a fucking multiplayer map and it corrupted my save data. twice in one night. i'm glad i didn't pay $60 for this rat dung, what the fuck DICE.

Im no legal expert or anything but I think its about high time that EA and DICE get slapped with a nice class action lawsuit.

They have a history of releasing broken products and this one by far is the worst. Its basically like getting a busted PS4 but at least Sony has the decency to replace those with a functioning version.

you'll be done with single player in like 3 hours if you don't play it on hard or look for collectibles. (IF IT DOESN'T FREEZE) it made cod ghosts campaign look Grammy worthy, its like they didn't even try.

I picked this up on amazon for $24 and now i want to send it back and say it was dead on arrival. You guys were not exaggerating at all. I knew it was going to be bad at launch but there is no excuse for this.

It's funny how every year the worst company of the year poll is nearby and EA managed to have one problem which automatically defaults them to be the winners(losers).

And you guys will be right back in line buying this Day 1 next year.

I've never been a day 1 buyer, but I feel a line was crossed for me here. EA has made conscious decisions to deteriorate gamer experience, essentially holding the game hostage for more money after we purchased it. On top of that there's the absolutely brazen way they knowingly released a broken product, and for me it's kind of a perfect storm of fuck yous directed at the customer.

I might've felt this way about Simcity, but I got it as a gift from the GF so I couldn't really get worked up over it.

Yeah the Xbox one hasn't had the conquest 64 player issue, but these issues are exactly in line with my experience...they need to fix this fast

Im getting really frustrated. Just bought premium last night to play China Rising, only to find a Dice message on the home screen saying it doenst work properly. Not only that, but downloading the DLC caused all the normal game modes to work shitty... and I mean shittier than they already are.

Also, WTF was the patch all about the other week?! It barley did anything! Still getting regular freezes all the time. Weak!

DICE simply cannot make a bug-free game. It's been that way since 1942, and it's completely fucking ridiculous. Battlefield 2 took FOUR years to add in widescreen support (which can be considered poor at best). The state they abandoned 2142 in is nothing short of a catastrophe. 3 still has a ton of issues that they simply won't address now that 4 is out. I've had 4 crash ~40 times on me on the PS4, and I lost my 100% weapons unlocked save game file.

The fact that some EA investors want to churn out a Battlefield game every year is hilarious, considering that they can't make one in two.

Nope. BF4 knocked me out of my conviction that all you need to know is your own tastes. You never know which games will launch busted, infested with microtransactions or whatever else tiresome bullshit. I'm not buying anything until it's proven those are not issues. And by proof I'm not referring to reviews by the games press. As it is, most of them don't serve a purpose for consumers. The bottom three here are the only ones to call the game out for being a buggy piece of shit.

And that's another pro of not getting games as soon as they're out, it encourages less shitty reviews. And it'll save you money in a lot of cases. Only positives. I'm glad I finally had this epiphany.

I actually do find that ridiculous. Because you're clearly now making stuff up that isn't true. If you preordered BF4 you got China Rising. End of story. Don't just make stuff up like, "they lied and never gave it to me" because they didn't. If you didn't receive it, call them up and provide information regarding that apparent issue.

This truly is the worst post I have ever read on this forum. You are saying that I'm lying? There are hundreds, thousands of people like me that did not get China Rising, even though they preordered it. I can show you my preorder screenshot, and my case, but you are not worth the effort it would take.

Take a look on amazon forums. That way, you can be corrected with no more effort on my part. This is not an isolated issue.

in recent memory, both simcity 2013 and mass effect 3 ending were pretty bad, but i haven't played bf4 so i can't compare.
