I think it's more of a reflection of stale corporate values than individual people, it probably comes down to 1 or 2 high ranking stakeholders and it isn't worth saying no because what are you going to do? Fight the culture war from the desk of your high value game development gig? And who would listen? All to be instantly ostracized by your dev team for being a bigot?

I really don't care about these things anymore but its always reliable for getting a few lols.

If a company wants to go in that direction, they don't need a creator. NfS Unbound had some dumbass monologues you had to listen to, Crew 2 had a super diverse cast including a black guy in a wheelchair, Motorfest had a pride-themed Porsche playlist. You want a neutral game, pick something like Wreckfest.

That only proves half the point though. The game is woke. No shit. It's from Microsoft. Where's the proof that it's slop? Reviews suggest otherwise. And they weren't reviewed for their ugly ass avatars because no one cares beyond the initial selection. We can perhaps dismiss all reviews as "woke reviewers who are blind to its slop", but that still leaves the other half of this claim unproven.

Unless your argument is that everything woke is automatically slop. Was the Arcane TV series slop, then? It was one of the best written animated shows in a long while. You seem interested in 007. It's going to be pretty woke for sure. It's very obvious from everything shown so far. But does that make it slop? If so, are you buying it knowing it's slop? Wouldn't that be hypocritical given your stance against wokeness?

I think there needs to be more nuance in this debate, if this is even worthy of any discussion. Can't just be "Look! Wokeness detected!". If the discussion never moves past that, then the discussion itself doesn't add much value to public perception or discourse. The thread becomes "anti-woke slop", just recycled and regurgitated over and over for every game that comes out. At some point even people who are against wokeness will get bored and disengage.

Unless you plan to nuke the entire industry and get conservatives to drive all creative arts (never gonna happen), there will always be some wokeness, as it is impossible to separate the artist's point of view from their own work.

The question, in my opinion, should be whether it is any good in spite of its wokeness... or not. If not, then the phrase "woke slop" would be more appropriate.
 
I think there are a lot of GAF gamers who will tolerate a lot of shit simply so they can play the latest shit. For me, I hate seeing all of this forced "woke" garbage in pretty much every single AAA game. I have only so much tolerance and I was doing just fine pre-2020 or so, but it has just gone too far in recent years and it really does rub me the wrong way. I can only facepalm so much while trying to enjoy a game.

I think a lot of you are younger and it has been crammed down your throat while you were younger and more impressionable and it doesn't bother you. You have a high tolerance and you also do not remember when games did not have it. Or you have forgotten the good days.

Anytime I play an older game or watch an older show/movie, it is almost jarring to see how far we have fallen. Shit now is so insanely censored, sanitized, and pumped full of forced agenda messaging it really sucks most of the fun out of everything. Oh but the graphics and gameplay are still good. That is not enough of a compelling reason to shell out a ton of money and more importantly, my limited time, to play a new game. Best I can do for most AAA games is wait for a steep sale or simply just pass on it. I used to love the Horizon games and purchased a wheel and everything to get more enjoyment from them. But they keep making the game less fun and more cringe and to be honest, I would rather boot up the first Horizon game and play that again than play this latest game.

In summary, it really is woke slop. If you don't believe me, then boot up the first game and compare it to FH6. After comparing the two, tell me how this latest game is not slop. Play any older game from 2015 or earlier and compare it to what we get now. Almost every game that comes out today is slop compared to what was released 10 years ago.

Except it's not just one game, and it's not just video games perdiod. It's in everything.
People who defend this kind of thing always act like it's one isolated case. It's not.

Tomorrow you will say "Amazing how something like a movie can get you riled up" etc etc, but culture, entertainment, hobbies, do shape your mind, affect your daily life, and having these constantly being affected by such lame content make it worse.

And before you reply with something like "Insane how much your life is impacted by a video game, go touch some grass", I will ask you:

What is the solution?
Yes, you can ignore all of this, but when it impact games, music, litterature, movies, tv etc... and therefore impact social life, outdoor talks etc because of how society is built around that (we can clearly see how split the society currently is), it's hard to escape it, unless you live completely cut off from the society. Or, and that's what a lot of people would like us to do, you give up, accept it, accept the downgrade of everything, the road to mediocrity.

It's not just about an ugly selection of charactes in Forza Horizon 6, it's the build up of a thousands things.

Yea they all are programmed the same, the "why do you care so much" or "options get you riled up"... Which is what is so FUCKING dumb is that options mean everyone has a choice and from the looks of it we HAVE to pick a fucking bitch pronoun, which someone can correct me if I'm wrong but that's the point I was making earlier options would be you can choose them or you don't have too, no you're forced to select a pronoun so where is the option part.
