Is Forza Horizon 6 another woke slop?

Are the cars trans or non-binary? That's the important thing.

well...

So we should use she/her for Vince Neil?
I don't know who that is.

You are taking a pretty progressive stance that we should use the pronouns based on what someone looks like, rather than if they were born as a man or woman.
Nobody is born as a man or a woman, that would be weird. If they were born male they are still male, and vice versa.

I'm saying the observer tends to make a visual assessment to determine someone's sex and thereby decide which language to use. If you later find out you were mistaken or deliberately tricked with regards someone's sex, then you would typically correct your language use in future (or at least I would). Making a mistake or successfully being tricked is not comparable to being obliged to indulge a delusion.

I think in the long run, sex as a biological and evolutionary reality and the impracticality of such basic language use being dictated by the whim of the observee rather than by the observer/speaker will prove too powerful for social norms not to bend back towards acknowledging that reality.

The acceptance of selecting 'male' (however they choose to label to it) defaulting to 'he' (and vice versa) is a tacit rejection of the theory underpinning the ideology. I find it preferable (though still an irritant) in so far as it avoids me having to become an active participant in the charade, but I cannot imagine such a rejection of the underpinning theory would be acceptable to woke activists for long.
That's exactly why I think it could be a middle ground. There are aspects to it that both sides find unacceptable at first, but there's enough to be willing to tolerate….

The argument would be that it is not fair to treat one choice as normal and the other as abnormal

I don't think this is as widely prevailing a view amongst the left as you think it is. Anything on either end of a statistical bell curve is, by definition, abnormal. The issue has always been whether it needs to be stigmatized for being abnormal or acknowledged as a valid way to live. The middle ground destigmatizes it while, like you said, also accepting that it's not normal. Acceptable, but not normal. I think most sensible people will agree with "live and let live".

Will everyone accept that. Of course not. But something worth considering for those willing. Leadership in these studios are Gen X or millennials. They have all lived at least half their lives never having to deal with any of this. So they wouldn't be as close minded to this as they may outwardly seem. When no middle ground is in sight, people tend to dig their heels in.

I'm 8h in and i still can't take a look at ANY character.
Every fucking body is absolutely disgusting to look at in this game.
It was already pretty lame on FH5 but here it's to another level.
Woke groups have decided to wage war on ANYTHING that can remotely link to the term "beautiful".

Also ALL dubs are unbearable.
All dialogues are again very cringy, annoying and seem written for 10yo kids.
No one sound japanese, you don't play with real japanese characters. Only Japan American.
There is ONE radio station with a japanese. Everything else doesn't feel authentic.

It's a catastrophic woke slop.

In Forza Horizon, you see the body types only once, during character creation. Never again for the rest of the game

In Hogwarts, They/Them pronouns were used throughout the game.

The truth is that some of you people lack any sort of conviction, and will hypocritically adjust your position based on how hyped you are for the game.

"They/them/their pronouns are inoffensive in general" 🤣

I suppose it's the racing in FH6 that tips the scale
Into offensiveness for you?
You are being really weird about this.

I don't find BG3 and Hogwarts offensive. The former was an excellent game and the "woke" elements stay in the background unless you actively engage with them.

The latter was an alright game with great HP vibes. The DEI crap is a bit more front and center but really only in a minor portion of the game.

I couldn't stand FH5 approach to writing. Not even sure why it was there as it only seemingly annoyed most folks. FH6 sounds like it ramps that shit up even more.

I am not sure what is that hard for you to comprehend here. There are no gotchas, it's the clash between what should be just the background to a racing game and instead it's the studio or MS pushing this crap when it's really not needed. I refuse to pay $70+ for this.

Its certainly not authentic to Japanese car culture, which makes me sad.

The anti-woke epidemic is utterly fucking retarded. But I too agree with the character criticism.

I don't think it's anything nefarious or related to conspiracies. It's simply that FH3 massively expanded the world size, leading PG to switch from bespoke, hand-designed characters to a modular avatar system. I don't think they had much choice

Of course, if you're into conspiracies this won't help: FH1/FH2 character concept example:
sam-chester-02-podiumgirl-concept-variation-choices.jpg

And to be fair, even with a modular avatar system where character design is deprioritized, it wouldn't take much effort to do better, and that's where PG clearly fell short. Is it a big deal? No. Is it valid criticism? Yes. For FH6, PG likely "looked at" the series' sales figures and thought, "It works, let's keep it as it is," and that's probably all there is to it.
The character creator system has been pretty weak since it's inception, and I do think at some point it should be improved.

Biggest issue with Horizon and other "festival" racing games like it, is they go for this safe corporate tone of we're here to race and have fun in the most lighthearted boring way where we all get along.

No danger, no drama, no rivalries, no real competing factions, no illegal underground scene, and I think it gets reflected in the plain derpy character creator too. I wish they kept the whole traveling festival, do the high detail photo-real settings, but add some edge to everything else in the format.

God forbid they try something new instead of being just a generic racing game. If the lego dlc's many years ago was not a clear indication what Forza Horizon is all about, then you're an idiot, especially considering, it's only a few over the top races out of a million realistic ones you have in the game. If you're going to criticize a game, at least have some valid points. Having a mech in 10 minutes out of 100hours of game is the dumbest shit ever.
I was not a fan of the lego DLC. You call me an idiot, but you can't seem to grasp that the series is going down a direction I am not a fan of. If you enjoy it, great. I wish the series would have stuck to what made the first game great. The first game did not need legos or mechs. Just a fun open world map to explore, cool barn finds, and tons of cool races in cars I like. This game in many ways mirrors the Fast and Furious franchise. The first movie was more down to earth, and literally there is a sequel that has them in space. I half expect Horizon to have DLC on the dang moon. And like the Fast and Furious movies, the more over the top they get, the more people seem to eat it up and enjoy it. So I guess the masses have spoken. They want a popcorn racing game that lets them be anybody and race anything.

Does FH6 still have that annoying unskippable festival hub you got to endure (complete with some British person yapping and fireworks to celebrate you driving there)?

Just wondering as I havent played a FH game in years.

So I decided to boot up the original Horizon game on my Xbox One. Shit aged like a fine wine. Second race is a showcase where you race a Ford Mustang versus a Mustang plane. That was fun, no mechs needed, and I got to keep the car. So right away I am driving a nice classic car. The women look good as well. The mechanic is not some 20 something chick. The whole game is just more grounded and for me, a much more fun experience. It has been so long since I played, it is like playing it again for the first time. Enjoy your mechs, pronouns, and body types. I'm off to play Forza Horizon.

That's Forza Horizon in a nutshell after FH2 tbh.

It sounds like they brought some of the progression back which is nice.

I'm still fine with having some over the top stuff, especially for expansions in segregated areas.

I just still want them to have the progression of the first 2 games, where you don't within a few hours have really fast cars, and I don't form as much attachment to any of them.

This game carves some of it back vs 4-5, but I'd like more.

Thanks. I'll skip it. When I played those old games I didnt mind the open world racing and arcadey action zipping through fields in a sports car doing random races that pop up.

But that frat party festival hub is ultimate cringe.

I can't believe that you guys have the energy to complain about people having the temerity to exist over and over and over again.

I think what's amazing is how folks like yourself minimize to such degree where it isn't just "people existing"... How about these fucking "people that just want to exist" breaking girls faces open in sports? Or forcing women who are married etc to change and or have a man naked in their locker rooms? Or in a family members experience of mine exposing themselves in the women's bathroom? I could go on... They aren't just "existing", they're fucking life up because they are narcissistic fucking pieces of shit that found the loopholes to abuse and a subset of people that are also dumb enough to shield them with fake virtue. The actual maybe tiny percentage of those that may have confusion I guarantee never pushed for a bunch of theatrics like pronouns, because they want to lay low and just blend in.

These fucking pronoun freaking fucks are nothing but a product of social contagions and most are men autogynephilliacs, or demented liberal women convincing their children to be something they're not so that it can all be on some shitty platform to gain from.

So no it not just people wanting to "exist", it's nothing but narcissists wanting power.

So much hate 😲

People always talk about sports. I personally have no problem saying that biologically female sports ought to be a protected class in competition.

People always talk about bathrooms and changing rooms. Women are regularly assaulted in changing rooms but mostly by cisgender people.

I think no woman should have to suffer these crimes. But in this specific discussion where you say that trans people as a group are to blame for these crimes, we should acknowledge that there is an outsize emphasis put on the crime if it involves a trans person, or rather if a crime is perpetrated by a trans person. I am of the opinion that we ought to be making sure that spaces like those are safe for everyone. It's not acceptable that women are fearful in public spaces. But it's not a trans specific issue.

"From a scientific and evidence-based perspective, there is no current evidence that granting transgender individuals access to gender-corresponding restrooms results in an increase in sexual offenses."

The quotes come come from within an article explaining a lot of how the narratives around changing rooms/bathrooms came about, including how a fear of rapist paedophile gays that was whipped up decades ago has now been rebranded to talk about trans people instead, and how segregationists told Americans that mixed race bathrooms would lead to white women becoming infected with venereal disease and how Jews were once stereotyped as violent predators. This is the new chapter of that:

Edit: I think I've made my point and am going to leave the thread now.

The characterisation in this game is genderless sanitised nonsense, created to be as inoffensive as possible. And where are the 'race queens'? In a game set in Japan, in and around Tokyo, there isn't a single attractive female promoting anything at any of the races? That's actually unrealistic, I know this from my own photographic experience there.

One of the few well written Steam reviews noted that they had 33 cars after one our of play. Add that to the long list of annoyances I have with the franchise. Too many cars given to you. I like to earn or buy my cars. It feels more significant.

You don't race the mech in the game. The mech just appears out of nowhere to "show off" for a few seconds. So if that was enough to hurt your snowflake feelings, you can "rest" now and maybe give the game a chance.

EDIT: Nvm, yeah. You do race against the same mech after some point. The point about snowflake feelings just because that remains though.

Yep. No surprise. Have you played the first game? It had sexy women. How far the series has fallen.

Considering how well the game is selling, there is no reason to pull back on the "modern audience" BS.

"Guys, who cars? It's a racing game. STFU and just buy it like the rest of us."

The 'return' of the progression system is a joke. You're forced to use cars from certain classes when you're doing festival races for the first time, but you're free to drive what you want for the challenges. Winning new wristbands is a quick process (very far from having to do 100% of the new events) and you get constantly rewarded with cash and free (sometimes very expensive) cars.

Oh no. The series about cars has fallen because no sexy women, but stuff like 60+fps vs 30fps shitshow in 1 and much more and better cars and environments didn't elevated the game... Chery picking in its finest. 🤦‍♂️

Yeah, I was in an Applebees a few weeks ago, and they had some event on one of the TVs that looked like Japanese drift racing. I'm not really a sports guy, or racing guy, but it definitely caught my eye because between every portion of the race, it seemed that every driver had their own section of cute promo ladies that they would cut to and show between each segment of a race. Didn't care about the who won or loss, but I loved seeing the cute ladies lol. No matter how much stupid morons keep pushing against it, beautiful women are just always gonna be pleasant to see, and would have been welcome in this game.

Yeah, it's still an issue they only reduced. I think for the premium version people, they even get gifted some up front as well.

I want something more like Gran Turismo 7 that I'm playing through right now, where even though it lacks the open-world exploration, my collection of cars isn't that big so far. You do the log book events, which do often have sections where you have to win races to collect 3 cars of a type, before moving on, but typically you're only going to have the resources to make one of them competitive, and further races will restrict you to certain cars. Any other income I have I'm usually saving for a particular car I want to buy that can be used in some events when I'm allowed. I'm more than 10 hours in, I haven't even touched a supercar, much less anything used for professional racing with sponsors all over the body.

I wouldn't really classify it like that. It's just very corporate which has always been an issue with these games.

The vibe is more like HR speaking at a team building exercise trying to be peppy.

Definitely woke slop. The game has been headed in that direction since I think FH4. It's disgusting to me. Part of the reason I don't play the series other than the fact I don't like arcade racers much.

Important to note that probably 25 of those 33 were ultimate edition & preorder bonuses, so not everyone's going to have them. I will say the progression is definitely slower than FH4 or FH5. I'm 6 hours in and have only gotten 5 wheelspins , and 3 of my 5 only have me credits….past games I would've had a dozen+ by this point.

Still much faster than something like GT7 but they have reigned it in quite a bit

Not as bad as I thought?

Not my image and I dont bother with the character creator in Forza.......but I actually just might this time, cuz this doesnt look as bad as people had me think the character creator looks.

Also if you are playing the racing game as a racing game, then you actually shouldnt be stopping to take selfies with your avatar........enjoy the racing.
Making a huff and puff about pronouns, that you dont care about or "ugly" characters you dont care about seems counterproductive to your own enjoyment of the game.

<----Almost certainly wont bother with the character creator.........but maybe.

Come on man, if Mechs actually existed, Top Gear certainly would of raced against one, they have for planes, trains, boats etc.
Its obviously a mech because its set in Japan. Its just a bit of fun.
On top of that, Japan actually has 3-4 real-life-size Gundams displayed around the country so it's not just some anime trope. They went all out and made life-size mechs that can move (limited).
