Is it a bad time to buy a 3DS?

Hi guys!

I've been rocking with my white OG 3ds for more than two years. Im happy with it but I've found the posibility of buying a red XL for 140€ brand new. I won't sell my og white because was a gift from my gf.

Should I double dip on 3ds for those 140€? I really don't know what should I do :S

Thank you guys!

I haven't bought a 3DS game in ages, and the only thing I'm looking forward to is the next Pokemon. I'm not getting Smash because it will be better on Wii U. There's that fun looking game coming out in Japan, but I doubt that will come to the west.

At the moment I'm less impressed with my 3DS than I thought I would be.

Given their lack of new 3DS games, I also believe that they are working on a successor. However I doubt that it will be out until late 2015 or even 2016. There are good games for the 3DS, so go for it.

I got one from ebay a few months back. I normally dont buy second hand hardware but this was in great condition, barely used and an absolute bargain considering the games it came with.

Theres a number of decent 3DS titles out. However if like me you skipped the DS theres even more games to play there, and I love the classic gameboy/gb colour games you can download from the eshop.

Buying a handheld that currently has hundreds if not thousands of hours of quality gaming available on it is never not worth it.

Wait for the new one!

Its kinda funny too, since someone like the "New 3DS" was exactly what I was fearing when I made this topic haha. Darn you Nintendo for not having any leaks! But yeah, good thing I'm poor right now or else I woulda bought one.

It's still a great time to buy. You have at least six months before this new version is released. Even then, the current prices make buying a 3DS or XL a no-brainer.

I'm not even sure if it's a bad idea now the new one has been announced, since this "New" 3DS won't be backwards-compatible with the regular 3DS (XL), right? Or the other way around, that "New" 3DS games won't fit the regular 3DS (XL). I think there are enough great games to justify a 3DS at this moment, if not just for Zelda OOT 3D and ALBW (have yet to try Luigi's Mansion 2).

You can always resell it when it comes time for New 3DS, if you think you want one.

Reselling on Amazon will get you a good chunk of change back.

I do the same with GPUs and other PC equipment.

uh cause he'll be playing on inferior tech.

it's a terrible time to buy one OP. just wait till the redesign rolls out.

The "New" 3DS wont be out this year in the west though....only in Japan.

He's gonna have to a wait a good year or so depending on when they plan to release it in the west.

Along with that he'll miss SSB and Pokemon at its prime :(

Still, I couldn't in good conscience buy a device when another, superior version of said device has been announced. I waited a long while to buy a 3DS because I knew the XL was coming out. and it felt good.
