Is it a good sign to be asked to a second interview same day?

I had an interview at a job agency that reached out to me for a position.

I went in for an interview today and I thought it went well enough. The interviewer left the room and came back saying that the company looking to hire wants to schedule an interview this afternoon.

Is that a good sign? Personally im not entirely sure im qualified for the position but im willing to learn it.
 
Could be warning signs. When a company is that in a hurry, I'd be curious the reason.

Lot of shady "interviews" out there.
 
It's actually a bad sign, that you have the inability to figure out that being asked for a second interview is a good sign. You're right, you aren't qualified. Hand in your resignation.
 
It's a good sign, but it also means you should pay attention to their employee stress level when you go in. Low staffing and high turn over are never a good thing.
 
How could it be a bad thing?

I think I got a call back for a second interview either the same day or maybe the next morning for my last (successful) interview
 
It's a good sign. They liked you and they're likely anxious to fill the position. The only bad sign is possibly regarding "why" they're so anxious.
 
You were so terrible that they wanted to get the second interview out of the way.

Also...based on what you wrote it sounds like you just had a set up interview with a recruiter or head hunter. So really, you haven't even had an interview yet. That was just a pre-interview to make sure you weren't a moron. Obviously they must have missed something. Good luck on the real interview.

I guess... just seems weird to me.

Only job interview for me that they were this fast was McDonalds.

It depends. Seems like he's working with a job agency for this position. That could mean that the job agency has been working to fill in this position for their client for sometime and the OP happened to be the nth candidate.
 
OP, if the interviewer makes you wait a while, just make sure you get GAF's advice before you walk out and send a nasty email.

Once HR interviewed me, and the finance manager interviewed me after 10 minutes after HR. I got the offer phone call after a few hours.

They were interviewing many others as well. Guess I just got lucky.
 
Seems like a good sign, but could also be a hint that they need someone asap.

Go for it.
 
Nah this is a good thing. I've picked people up that quickly before.

Often Job Agencies will have their usual go-to's all out so they'll be filling spots with clients as soon as they find any warm body (not to insinuate you're just a warm body).

Yes, that is the way I read it as well and why I asked for confirmation of that assumption. And in my experience, recruiters tend to put you up for any and all positions remotely related to your field, even if you don't really have the proper qualifications. So I would say this "second" interview is more a result of the agency pushing for you to get an interview, not necessarily that the company is super interested in hiring you. But at least it's something!
 
Very good from my experience. I invite candidates the sooner the better they performed/matched the job description.
 
Two interviews is a good sign. Three is the usual max for certain companies.
It means they want to know more of you and you passed the other scrubs that wanted that position.
 
Its an entry level freight forwarding position. They were interested in the fact im already somewhat familiar with freight forwarding due to my father being one and the fact I majored in asian studies (its a japanese company).

depends of the specific position...
for "shitty jobs", when the company is too eager to hire someone, they probably have a lot of rotation with their employees. or there are some shady stuff they are hiding and they try to hire you and sign a contract before you ask.

if it's a "good job", it's only good news.
 
Since you're sure the company is legit, probably a good thing. I interviewed for a full-time executive assistant internship (administrative work), thought I did terrible, and received a follow-up email with an offer within hours. The attorney who interviewed me really liked me, to the extent where in when I told him I had another interview for a different job later that week, he offered me a small bump in pay to come in on Monday.

Never had something like this happen until or after then.
 
I asked my father about the company im interviewing with this afternoon. He was familar with them and actually is one of his clients. He vouches for them. Im doing research now
 
I have a great job right now and the hiring process moved very quickly. It could simply mean that they think you're exactly what they're looking for and want to bring you on board ASAP as long as everything goes smoothly.
 
Be really careful. You might have to wait as much as 45 minutes for the interview. You don't want to let everyone walk all over you like that.

That's a fantastic sign. My father's out of work and I've been helping him with the whole application process and such. He went some 4 interview through FedEx for a corporate management position. I've only ever had 3 interviews at most, but I guess it came down to the wire between him and some other guy.

Anyhow, multiple interviews in a day sounds great. Sounds like they want someone ASAP.
 
They spotted some BS on your resume, Now they want to call you back in ask you about the BS face to face to see if you can keep up the lie.

A potential problem. I have another job in which I am a supervisor. What if they qant me to start working this week? How do I habdle that with my other job?

the people in your new job have to understand that you need a couple of weeks to "properly quit" your old job.

this is called the "two weeks notice", and it's the polite and common thing to do in this cases.
 
Yeah, I know. But if it is the case that they're wanting to hire someone immediately, I don't want to lose this opportunity because of it.
 
Very good sign as they probably wouldn't want to waste their time with someone they don't think will be a good fit


Just don't leave if they make you wait for 45 mins
