Is it a good sign to be asked to a second interview same day?

Yeah, I know. But if it is the case that they're wanting to hire someone immediately, I don't want to lose this opportunity because of it.

It's your responsibility to ask for the two week notice. If they don't agree with that, you can try to negotiate something with both parts. Maybe you can work half time in one and half time in the other one.

If they don't agree even with that, then you have to decide if it's "worthy" to drop your old job.
personally, I wouldn't want to "drop" my old job, it's an unprofessional thing to do, and you never know when an old contact from an old job can be useful.

If they're interested enough to ask you back the same day for a second interview, they're interested enough to wait the two weeks for you to give notice at your old job.

If they pressure you to leave immediately, and not give proper notice, walk away, unless you don't care about burning bridges at your old job (HINT: you should).

It's a good thing... But it's not a second interview. It's your first interview with the actual employer, after the interview you had with the job agency.

I had the same thing a few years back. Job agency asked me to come down and do a few tests/small interview before they put me forward for a position they were currently seeking to fill a bunch of people for.

Left the agency after the interview, 30 minutes later got a call saying that the company wants to interview me face to face.

Not entirely uncommon for job agencies to do this, their big clients will get them to route out the idiots first of all and then invite them for interview soon afterwards.

Interview went okay. I did the smart thing and visited my father between interviews. He used to do what they were interviewing for, so I was able to get some information from him to make it sound like I knew a little bit about the job.

I got there about 20 minutes early and was immediately seen. Two men interviewed me. They were very much by the book Japanese salarymen, so it's hard to get a read on their thoughts on the situation. One seemed more interested than the other, but the other wasn't disinterested or bored either. He was using his poker face.

The whole thing lasted about half an hour. After that they said I would be hearing from them in the next few days.

So we'll see. I did my best, I have no regrets.
