Is it damn cold where you are too?

It is like 12F here right now in NY, but it was probably like 3F earlier. Wind chill must have made it feel like -5F earlier. It is some serious cold(yes, you guys living in the tundra can laugh).

Coldest day in this recent cold snap in Montreal.

-27C this morning. -38C after wind chill. tears started streaming down my face walking into work in the parking lot this morning as there was a little wind.

'm just glad I got in early and was able to park close to the entrance to limit my exposure.

Apparently, it is -43 Celsius / -45 Fahrenheit after wind chill this morning in Quebec city.

You people and and your -10 Celsius..., you don't know cold. :p

Killed my car battery too. Had to get jumped.

Time to bust a myth! Batteries work slower at low temps making them produce less power, but also degrade slower. At high temps they work faster producing more power and degrading faster. When it's cold you notice the degrading from high temps. This is why batteries should be stored cold if possible.

Pretty cold here as well.

That's what you get from living north of the wall. If you want warm you have to kneel.

Oh it's warm enough at my job and house, nice 22 Celsius all over the place.

It's just the damn 5 mins walk with -43 Celsius to my car that is a pain. That's like a 60 degrees difference. :P

It is really cold, after i took my shower this morning, i left the small window open just a tad (10cm at best) to get some fresh air, came back 15 minutes later and the water that was dripping from the window already froze =O.

Just walking outside makes my face hurt

-5C at noon in The Netherlands, covered in snow (read: one big slippery mess).
The predictions show that sunday the temperature will rise to above 0C, yay!
I guess then I can walk normally to work again.

Your compatriots are gonna be pissed if they're not getting their Elfstedentocht, though. :p

-27C with windchill this morning in Toronto. Having to walk about 3-5 min towards my office out in the cold and the wind is always blowing toward you because of the planes landing (I work beside the airport), your face starts physically hurting like a bitch. Every winter morning I have to go through this. My balakava helps, but not much.

Ottawa today 'feels like -39'

。・゚・(ノД`)・゚・。

With the windchill it'll be -40 here all day in Winnipeg.

The nice bonus is that is where the two standards meet so everyone understands that it's just freaking cold!

I always laughed at my mom for storing fresh batteries in the freezer. So she wasn't crazy?

Pretty hard to do that with a car battery unfortunately. But that helps explain why people in the coldest climates tend to not have as many problems with engines starting during the winter (if that's even true - I have heard that).

alright, I'll stop complaining about 0°C now - Central Europe is nicer than most of the northern hemisphere, all things considered

Motherfucker, that sounds pretty rough. It's about -4°C here in Vienna which is below average for here but I don't really mind it very much. I like the snow. What I don't like is the humidity when it's cold. Right now it's -4°C with 86% relative humidity, I don't even know how that's possible and it kinda sucks because it feels way colder than it is.

11 F right now, suppose to get up to 17 today. Cold weather doesn't really bother me because I have a car and an apartment with heat. Not to mention most places I go have heat inside them. I'm not a little baby because I have to walk a few yards out in the weather before my body temp is instantly back to where it should be.

3° Celsius (37.4° Fahrenheit) in Tyrol, Austria

Last year was crazy, we had temperatures down to - 18° Celsius (-0.4° Fahrenheit).

The overall record of Austria was -37,4° Celsius (-35.32° Fahrenheit) back in 1905.

It was 7 degrees without the wind chill this morning in Brooklyn, NY (and there was substantial wind to boot). I almost never wear gloves, and my hands felt numb after walking two blocks - had to put them in my pockets. It was a brutal walk to the train this morning lol. I honestly don't remember the last time it was this cold. Maybe 2-3 years ago, if that.

Philadelphia here.
People are acting like psychos because of this weather.

Can't be outside for like 10+ minutes and we're pretty much a city of people who have to wait on corners for buses.

Only -3°C here in Belgium, heard it will drop to -10 to -15 by friday, then it should get a bit warmer again. Ever since I got back from a trip to Lapland it's been freezing non stop here, been seeing nothing but snow for almost a month :)

Kind of off-topic?

There's this guy I see on the bus everyday who always looks happy and smiling all the time no matter which day it is. He doesn't wear any coat/jacket nor scarf or gloves/mittens either. Even with today's weather he still walks around outside with just a simple thin hoodie like it's summertime. Everyone else has extra layers over their heavy winter jackets and boots. I, myself, wore an extra hoodie to keep from freezing but still felt the cold after 3 minutes.

With that said, does anyone else encountered someone who is this [crazy] BOSS?

-35°C with windshield here btw.

He might have a disorder. There was a kid in my middle school that could't stop smiling, regardless of how often the kids teased him. He always had a permanent grin.

[edit] It's called Angelman Syndrome.

About 10°F here... probably a bit warmer earlier. Not as bad as some of you, but I had to walk all around campus all day, which was a REAL drag.

-31C with windchill in Richmond Hill, Ontario. I had to wait twenty minutes at the bus stop (without a bus shelter) :( Thankfully it had stopped snowing by then but the slush still made my toes sting bad.

Its about -16 in the mornings, i do not mind the cold as i get well dressed. The problem is that the road is slippery, i cannot have my hands in my pockets because i have to make sure if i slip and fall i can at least minimize the damage. I basically look like Sam Fisher walking slowly with my arms out
