Is it odd for boys/men to call their father daddy?

I call my dad papi sometimes but that's 'cus I'm Mexican and papi doesn't seem weird to me but I wouldn't call him daddy 'cus the internet ruined daddy.

Im 32 and in the midwest..i call my father daddy, pops... my mother is mommy, ma or momma.

Who gives a shit because they'll never stop being my parents.

Personally I find it weird even from kids, let alone 40 somethings. Regardless of gender.

edit: Same goes for Mommy.

got a 26 year old cousin that still calls his black stepdad Daddy after all these years, it's always somewhat funny to me lol. He's half black/Filipino himself. I'm Filipino. Me and my siblings have always called our dad either Dad or Pa.

You said a "southern" thing. I'M saying it's just a thing. Observe, if you will, how many Latin folks that will come in here and tell you it's normal..in their language..get it? Papi means daddy..in case it's lost on you..

Yikes both of those are bouncing around my bilingual brain I dunno how to feel.

Wives calling husbands "father " is weird and yet it will be defended by someone denying that it is weird. Failing to recognize that they themselves are weird.

Maybe I've had a little too much to drink (waiting out this hurricane in FL) but I have no idea what the hell you're talking about. All I've said is that many southern folk will still refer to their fathers as 'daddy' into adulthood and no one will bat an eye. So hispanics still call their dads 'Papi'?? Mmmk? I'm not even sure I believe that.

Daddy comes out my mouth from time to time when speaking to my father, only in private though. The sexual connotations of the word now are inseparable. Recently Trump made a statement about Ivanka asking "Daddy, can I go with you?" in a speech and of course the replies on twitter were it' disgusting/he goomed her etc but i've heard lots of "daddy" usage in my lifespan from grown women tlking to their dads and i never really thought about the sexual nature of it. I think it's more common for girls to still say it than men when they get older.

What about mommy?

I don't think I've EVER called her mommy. Ma and mom. Mama once in a blue moon when I'm trying to get her attention.

Might just be our weird family. Neither of my parents are the super affectionate type. And being honest except for our oldest sister (and she can have a mean streak) neither are their kids.

There's nothing wrong with it, no ones making you but if someone gripes about this, geez, what an example of toxic masculinity. Give me a break.

Called both my parents by their first names since around 12 or so. Neither one of them called me out on it, which was why I never understood (for the longest time) the reactions I got from other people about it.

Papito..believe what you want. It's a thing. Wasn't speaking in absolutes..was just saying it's a thing. If you're from Miami and have never heard it? I'm in fucking shock..hang with more Cubans/Nicaraguans/Mexicans/El Salvadorans/A place under Mexico..just saying.

WASP? That's not uncommon.

I don't see anything wrong with it, I mostly say Dad/Father but sometimes I'll say daddy on context. Older sibling said it so I kind of just been using it my whole life because of them.

If it's not strange for a woman to call her male sex partner "daddy", why is it strange for a man to call his female sex partner "mommy"?

both 'daddy' and 'father' are weird for me

daddy - you're too old, it makes you sound 5

father - sounds too worshippy, because people often say it with this egotistical worshippy air to it

Is weird, no one calls their parents papi and mami in public, although if someone did no one would bat an eye since a lot of people do it, like when you see your friend being kissed by his dad in public, may be weird but you know your dad does the same.

And some women do call their partners papi also, which is weird, my ex wanted to call her mami like what the hell woman i still call my mom mami i aint calling you that, she did call me papi which i wasnt particularly delighted for, like girl im sorry your dad left you when you were seven but i am not a replacement for all those lost years.

I've always called my parents by their first names. Both of my sisters called them mom/dad, but for whatever reason, I've just never been comfortable using a general title to address my parents. To their credit, they just went with it.
