Is Microsoft obliged to sell more consoles than Sony in the US?

Unless you've been under a rock, XBox is moving to a subscription model.

Sure they want to sell hardware units too, but that's not the focus...nor is it the metric Microsoft uses.

Also, its possible...while they got their asses handed to them worldwide, the battle in the US was only separated by like 4 million.

Contrary to belief, casual gamers would still rather pay full price for cod or nba and play those games rather than pay a subscription for most games they won't play.

PlayStation brand through exclusives and identity is insanely strong. So no as I expect the Xbox series consoles to be discountined by mid gen

I don't get these threads at all. If you look at the trends from the very beginning of the video game industry until now its very obvious that the company with the best games sells the most consoles. It's really as simple as that.

That's like saying Apple is disaster in the smartphone industry because Samsung sells almost twice the devices.

They are obliged to do better next gen than they did this gen.....If they can't muster and gamepass continues to not give them the revenue and profit they seek. You will see lots of redress from their shopping spree bonanza....
