My best Friend is an huge Green Lantern-Fan, and he cries everytime the Film is mentioned.

According to him it would have been better if the Movie didn't exist at all.

Wasn't there an older Green Lantern made in the 90's? I swear to god there was one I saw as a kid but I can't find it on imdb or google in general. Had a guy who looked into a microscope that poked your eyes out or something? lol

It was a live action pilot for a tv series

It's pretty mediocre but it's certainly not the worst superhero movie there is. I think Reynolds did a good job with the shitfest he was given.

it was fun because you could sit and know exactly what would happen in the next 2 mins

oh i bet that jet is going to blow up

*kaboom*

its trash

It's not a terrible movie. The sad truth is it's a dumb, predictably lackluster comic book film.

Ryan Reynolds has some charisma, and I thought he made an okay Lantern. What really killed the movie was the typical comic book crap: an origin story where none was needed, multiple villains, and a lack of focus.

I would have kept the first Green Lantern film on Earth and with a single Green Lantern.

Spoilers I suppose, but who cares:

So there's this scene where this helicopter is crashing into a crowd of people. And it crashes and it avoids everyone but it's sliding across the ground and it's about to kill someone.

So the Green Lantern, with the power to create absolutely everything with his mind and the ring has to stop this helicopter before it hits these people.

How would you stop that helicopter?

I bet it wouldn't be like this:

More suprised by the fact that the helicopter turned into an unstoppable train instead of just crashing.

Not terrible, just ok. Which in itself is disappointing considering the caliber of the franchise. Ryan did an OK job but they should of gone with John Stewart instead of Hal.

Mark Strong as Sinestro was great. That's about all I can say positively.

Whoever had the idea to focus a Green Lantern movie on Earth is part of what screwed it up so badly. You can do pretty much anything with GL...and you make a mediocre version of every other superhero movie instead of a space-faring adventure. Good job.

The only good part was when Blake Lively's character immediately figures out GG's identity. The rest is just mediocre to a T. It's funny how the same people in charge of this ended up making Arrow and The Flash.

The movie was bad. The editing in particular was bad.

I really want to know who edited that movie, because the cuts from scene to scene was very jarring.

It's honestly a C/C- film.

Internet hyperbole puts pretty much every film into "Best movie I've ever seen!" or "Hot garbage" categories.

wtf did I just watch...

How did that not kill everybody anyway? You could see the crowd was right up close to the helicopter, they would be in pieces surely.

I watched one of the animated movies (the origin story released a few years ago), it was pretty good. This looks awful, glad I skipped it.

It was an ok movie. There are certainly worse comic book/superhero movies. But I can see why they'd want to reboot it since it's such a huge opportunity to make money.

It actually would have been. The movie sunk the green lantern name and it got a pretty good animated series canned because nobody would stock the merchandise.

Best part of the movie was when the female lead (whose name I can’t remember) saw through Hal’s stupid domino mask disguise in like ten seconds.

What's your excuse, Lois Lane? Huh? HUH?

Highlights
Oa
Not afraid to go Balls Deep into the Source Material
Blake Lively as Carol Ferris
Mark Strong as Sinestro
Hal's duel with the Drones
Hal and Carol's conversation about whether or not Hal is worthy of the Ring.

Lowlights
Overused CG
Parallax as a Space Shart
No Helicopter Wash.
Too Much Earth
Hector Hammond Screaming.
Final Battle Logistics are Jarring
Misuse of Amanda Waller
Over used Dead Parents Origin.
Plot is messy overall.

GL fan here. Probably my favorite DC property.

Your friend is spot on, that movie is an abortion. It single handedly made me doubt WB/DC creativity and ability for live action superheros not named Batman and WB/DC has proven those doubts correct ever since.. This is a 200 million dollar film (not including advertising) with some of the most abysmal CG you will ever see in film.

And both are also quick to say that should the forthcoming Green Lantern flop (and it's been a troubled production), it won't hurt Lively much. Says the manager, "Whatever the mistakes were with Green Lantern, she needs to not react to them and do an indie movie just because a big superhero movie didn't work. It's always about the role and the director. The hotter the person, the easier it is, and she's very hot right now." The agent adds, "Even though Green Lantern is supposed to be terrible, it doesn’t mean it’s not going to do extremely well and enhance her foreign value. Clash of the Titans was horrendous, but it didn’t slow down Sam Worthington any."

According to the blu-ray cover, the Daily Star gave it a 10/10, so it can't be that bad. *cough*

Personally I never managed to sit through the whole thing. At best it's incredible boring.

Yeah, it's not that good. Just kinda boring, which isn't good for a super-hero movie. Reynolds was fine as the GL, but it was just a boring ass movie, and really unimaginative. Which for a super-hero movie and one base on GL is a big no no.

It's pretty bad. Feel bad for GL fans because he's not going to see the light of day for a long time in live action films.

Oa is pretty cool though, Kilowog and Sinestro look great. I'd say give it a watch if you're a DC/GL fan, or like to laugh at horrible movies.

My big issue with the movie is how many times Hal Jordan motovations change.

I want to be Green Lantern

I don't want to be Green Lantern.

I want to be Green Lantern.

I don't want to be Green Lantern.

Just fucking get on with it.

Way too much for a 2 hour movie.
