Thor did not take kindly to being cloned either. He had some things to say to Tony when he returned:
(the lead up to the scene is nice, but I would not really call this a fight. Before these pages, Thor hit Iron Man once or twice, then decided to end it.)

And afterwards, Tony complains about the suit being broken and not being able to get home. And Thor tells him to take a walk.

He put Iron Man in his place. Damn.

There are only two more pages to that "fight." Iron Man getting hit once, and then Thor walking away. So awesome.

I prefer this version of how it went down between Thor and Tony

I think Thor just watched Dr. Horrible. Or Captain Hammer reads Thor. Cant remember which came first. That issue or Dr. Horrible.

Cheap in the fact that they talk about how uber powerful he is, but in the end he is rather lame and never really shows off. Apocalypse is very overrated.

Looks awesome, who's the artist?

Thor was nice and harsh after the fact.
"Uh, my armor is fried. How do I get back?"
"Walk."

Superman will nuke Hulk from halfway between the earth and the sun.
And hulk would just heal back and get stronger and leap galaxies while shitting rainbows... it goes on and on lmao

Why are Thor and Iron Man fighting? I get why Hulk beats everyone up, but Iron man :?
This was during a time when Iron Man was being kind of a dick. During the Civil War story, he had cloned Thor to use as an enforcer against rouge superheroes. The God of Thunder didn't take too kindly to these developments when he came back to Earth.

Would you happen to have a screenie of that? I would love to see it.
This is the only thing that comes to mind as of recently. They didn't really fight. Maybe he's referring to something else.

Oh yeah Cable is quite powerful as well, and I believe if it had not been for the virus his potential is nearly unrivaled.
I always thought he was just a dudebro with a big gun.

cant find anything with the captions. Scott was all like , *the x-men only deal with mutant affairs

this was after all the mutants had been House of M'd i think, so Scott didnt care about the Civil War. Iron Man threatened to bring him in anyway, but Scott was ready with Emma Frost hidden and waiting to smash Iron Mans brains into oblivion or something.

Didn't the snake demon/god Set pretty much kick everyone's ass in one of those What If comics? Swallowed all of Phoenix's power and she fell to earth and died. Only Thor and Silver Surfer were able to hurt it.

Something like that. Then some 100 foot Captain Marvel guy showed up and all he could do was take Set into another universe and fight it for all eternity. Set's children still managed to destroy our universe and a bunch of others if I am remembering right.

The Scarlet Witch caused Hulk to become Bruce and She Hulk killed him. She was posessed by Set.

What if...? Was the best book created by Marvel, ever. Too bad it's fallen out of favor. Each one of those, if you follow the proper context, is a fascinating read. Can't believe they're dead now.

Yea I remember that issue had a joke at the end like What If the Punisher was the Herald of Galactus? Shows a planet, it explodes, and Punisher is shrugging to Galactus like he is saying "my bad".

There's some BS about how Cable's actual mutant power is essentially used up fighting the 'techno-organic' virus he contracted, so he then uses big guns.

Yeah, that was the What if...? Atlantis Attacks comic. I liked it so much I rebought a copy off ebay years after the fact. sogood. The guy fighting Set was Quasar with the power of Captain Universe.

Thor is awesome. He hasnt been written well in YEARS until the relaunch with copiel.

The "Essential Thor" folks from yore are:

Walter Simonson
Ron Frenz/Bret Breeding
John Buscema/Tom Palmer
& whomever is inking Copiel at the time.

90% of the time anyone else who did the title (other than perhaps JRjr) did the title serious injustice.

What If... was a fucking awesome idea, but not always pulled off as well as it could have been. There were some great ones through the years, but some truly horrible ones too.

The first year of Jurgens and JRJR's run was fanfuckingtastic. Still one of my favorite runs in any comic. Even got my letter printed in it a few issues after the Dark Gods storyline ended since it was basically an ass kissing letter.

Trying to find images of the end of it where Odin kills the Dark God's leader. So badass, they couldn't even show it.

Stryfe/Nate Grey basically

Cable at one point used the knowledge gain from his Askani training to focus all of his power enough to extract the TO virus from his body(this was only after the cure for the Legacy Virus had altered his TO infection enough to become malleable enough for him to extract)...but it was short lived and eventually came back

I'm still torn if Timequake was a good idea or not. On one hand, it was neat seeing a real story in the series. On the other, it was a real story in the series.

So he basically has a mutant healing factor? Ok.

Speaking of clones and organs...what about Joseph?..Magneto's clone?..he was pretty powerful in a time where marvel was actually fairly conservative with their character's powers.

Hey I found this... It explains the ending in detail.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_Universe

The Captain Universe-Quasar composite entity of Earth-Set

After finally freeing himself of a circular orbit in an imploding dimension the superhero known as Quasar returned to the site of a major battle between himself, Doctor Strange, The Thing, Thor and the evil Elder God Set. Shocked to find his comrades dead, Quasar screamed into the Heavens as a glowing red light consumed him. It changed him and infused him with the powers of Captain Universe. After merging the Uni-Power with his own Quantum Bands; Quasar took Doctor Strange's Eye of Agamotto and left the imploding dimension.

When he arrived most of the remaining heroes had been murdered by either Set's fearsome power or at the hands of his seven mind controlled brides. Quasar found The Silver Surfer attempting to keep the creature at bay. Filled with an immeasurable amount of rage the Quasar/Captain Universe entity summoned the Eye of Agamotto and pulled himself and Set into the Eye's pocket dimension where they would do battle for all Eternity. Later on Quasar of Earth-616 viewed his counterpart facing Set.

The Cykes scene above reminds me of one scene I really liked from Civil War where Tony is talking to Emma about getting the X-Men's help and she refuses because the X-men don't want to get involved. When Tony tries to call her out on doing nothing, Emma basically says "Where were you when Genosha was burning?". And then Tony just gets up and leaves, looking like a bitch.

What's happening? I'm not reading Flashpoint.
Superman was imprisoned in a government science lab and never exposed to the sun. Until Flash, Cyborg, and Batdad busted him out.

It's not BS...he was shown using his TK powers way back in X-Force #1...back when only Domino knew about it. He could only do simple tasks without risking the TO virus spreading, so yeah, he relied on weapons, until Blaquesmith started his Askani training to more fully realize his mental powers.
