As a generally rule, the more powerful a character gets, the cooler they are. I mean, things like the Dark Phoenix Saga was great because it was an explosively powerful character in a universe where powerful was a dude who threw metal pipes and shit. Wolverine was cooler before he became immortal. Batman is at his best when he's skulking in the shadows taking out thugs and fighting a clown, not shooting gods with magic bullets.

I think you contradicted yourself there. First you say that more powerful = cooler, then give a bunch of examples where that isn't the case. If there are more exceptions to a rule than instances of it holding, then it's not really a rule.

D'oh. I meant "less." Typo.

So how strong is Apocalypse, really? I saw the scan of him getting torn apart by Magneto and I know he jobs all the time in comics despite his reputation, but how powerful is he supposed to be?

I'm not sure but somebody on youtube argued that he could beat Galactus. That was the longest laugh I've had in awhile.

I don't think they have the other issues on Marvel.com, so can someone explain Logan being Cable? He just ups and get psychic powers and the T/O virus?

That's the ultimate version of Cable. It's just better if you forget it, those storylines were crap anyway.

Batman's plans don't involve going ten rounds in a ring.

And if they DO involve going a round or two, there will be something set up to give him the advantage.

Batman always wins unless the writer is pulling some PIS.

He can't win a childrens card game.

I just finished reading a Thanos comic where Thanos rams two planets together, one of which is loaded with nuclear warheads at the point of impact where Galactus was standing. In the aftermath Galactus is just sitting on a piece of floating debris and he's basically got some tattered clothes and he's like "yeah I'm a little bit weaker now...thanks Thanos."

Batman says it is CONCEIVABLE that Cap could beat him. Not that he WOULD. It means that it is possible Cap could win. I think This means more than Batman acknowledges Cap as an equal.
This. They're the same damn character.

I don't see how anyone can deny Captain America beating Batman in a fight. Assuming they are equal in terms of fighting techinque, Cap has the advantage of being stronger, faster and more agile. Even if batman was able to keep the fight to a standstill, Captain America 's resistance to exhaustion would keep him sharper for longer, netting him the win.

Batamn could just hire a sniper.

The sniper didn't kill cap, even without his shield and with his hands literally tied behind his hack.
Yeah, but then whats-her-face did. I'm sure Bats could do the same. If he was into that whole killing thing. But he's probably fine with just the shitty shot.

I'm just messing. Cap would win every time.

A giant smash able mech thing? Pfft, it's scrap.

Even Captain Kirk beat gundams with his Enterprise.
they are made from gundanium alloy. Hardly smashable. Its like building a robot out of adamantium.

The Enterprise wouldn't last two seconds.

It beat the child piloted mechs, the enterprise was stabbed by a giant sword but it used it's magnetic fields to pull in the gundam things then immediately threw them back and then phaser'd and torpedo'd the shit out of them.

So the Hulk can fight Metallo?

So I've gotten into mangas pretty easily, but often when I read a comic book at the store I don't get the same kind of hook. What's the diff that separates a manga from a comic?

There is no way a Gundam could ever beat the hulk.
A Gundam can withstand the impact of nuclear strikes. They are built for defense. Compounded with firepower to wither Hulk down and then speed and melee. Also taking the fight into zero gravity i dont see Hulk on offense for very long.

Hulk has actually been killed on several occasions, only to be saved by some cosmic power.

He was killed by Thanos (along with most of earth's heroes) when he possessed the Infinity Gauntlet.

He was killed by Doom (along with most of the Xmen/Avengers/FF/Spiderman/Magneto) during the Secret Wars when Doom possessed the power of Galactus and the Beyonder.

He was killed by Red Hulk (who also killed Silver Surfer, Dr. Strange, Namor, Tiger Shark, Baron Mordo, and Terrax in the same issue, lol) before being brought back by the Grandmaster.

And yeah, the Infinity Gauntlet can't be the most powerful artifact simply because The Living Tribunal performed a cosmic nerf on them like an intergalactic MMO admin.

Death is but an inconvenience for Hulk.

Gundams take on whole fleets ships all the time, the enterprise doesn't even sound like a threat when they're hit with barrage of attacked many times larger than that.

Explain please. Spoilers of course.
Spoilers for Flashpoint Batman
In Flashpoint, Bruce died instead of his parents. His father became Batman and his mother became the Joker, specializing in killing parents and kidnapping kids. Oh and Thomas Wayne Batman is hardcore, he won't just threaten to drop criminals off buildings, he WILL drop them.
