Is the Hulk the cheapest comic book superhero ever?

....Yes he did. I'm tired of this bullshit "Toriyama had nothing to do with GT it isn't canon! lalala I can't hear you!" He was the writer AND he oversaw production of the series. He designed the Logo, the characters, etc. To say it's not canon is pretty much bullshit.

GT used to be canon but it's been retconned by Dragon Ball Online.

GT isn't canon anymore? Awesome. Show took a massive nosedive after Cell Saga, but Buu Saga had some redeeming qualities. GT was total garbage.

I still think Goku > Superman.

Interviewer: The new anime series is Dragon Ball GT, but how involved in it are you?

Toriyama: I'm only a little involved. I checked the stories given by Toei Animation, and I gave a little advice. After that, I just drew a few characters and illustrations. But it's fun! It's a feeling of "Aah, so this was a possibility." Everyone at Toei Animation has really racked their brains. I really appreciate it. Wow, Gokuu turning little again. With that story, I could continue the manga serialization again... or so I say, but I actually don't have the will to draw it at all (laugh).

Translated interview of a Shenlong Times Toriyama interview when GT was just coming out in Japan.

Toriyama confirms he basically had nothing to do with it. Him doing designs does not make something canon.

He even said in a later interview he wished he had more involvement.

I'd love to see a crazy plotline where an out of control summers descendant is just wrecking shit, and it turns out to be a love child Adam-X had on a weekend bender he can't even remember

LOL.

I say Marvel should keep bringing this guy up in the background of things totally trying to badass it up and completely fucking up at it. I wanna see Thanos cock punch the guy after he runs up to him and DX crotch chops at him or something.

Also if we're talking about who would have the scariest offspring that'd be Franklin Richards + anyone. Pray the dude is celibate when he gets older otherwise the stuff that he'd spawn into existence would be the kind of stuff that'd induce night terrors in the Universe. That or Hope (w/Phoenix Force) hooking up with Silver Surfer. Linking up the power Cosmic and the Phoenix Force? Yeah...her womb would shoot universes out that were on fire in the third tri-mester. Shit... her plus Franklin is terrifying. Imagine a child born fully possessed by the Phoenix Force with all of Franklin Richard's powers.

Everytime I see the Punisher of 2099 I have to post this pic.

So extreme lol

Why do authors add "force" at the end of everything? Speedforce, odinforce, darkforce, etc.

There are other words besides force!

Great. So much for my superhero, Powerforce who taps into the force force to exact revenge on Subway employees.

GT was never canon because it was an original anime project not an adaptation of Toriyama's manga

It was canon to the anime (which included the movies.) Not canon to the manga obviously. I guess it's sort of like the expanded universe of DB.

DBO isn't based on the manga but it definitely is canon and Toriyama's had a lot of input on it.

Given that the movies and anime tended to contradict each other at times, I think being a Dragonball fanboy means accepting some mental leaps.

Wasn't there an entire plot where the fourth Summers brother went on a rampage in the Shi'ar Empire?

At the same time that Rachel Grey decided to go on a rampage in the Shi'ar Empire?

Possibly before or after the Shi'ar decided it was a good idea to try and kill a being that had proven in its infancy that it could slaughter entire solar systems as if it were a joke?

Seriously, the Shi'ar need to back the heck off from the X-Men, before they all wind up dead.

i coulda swore i have a comic where reed, doom and maybe reed's father set this guy up and galactus imprisons him because he drew his power from hyperspace and had unlimited reserves and they gave Galactus a way to use him for sustenance with his unlimited hunger. Maybe it was a different descendant. The Franklins and the Richards have some crazy kids in the future.
That is exactly how it ended. But The LT came by told G to get back to work.

Nah, it's easy. Everything that contradicts the manga is not canon. I don't think any of the movies could fit in the continuity.

I was referring to the idea of "anime canon" that the previous poster referred to, since it was full of contradictions.

I'm as big a DBZ fanboy as anyone, and know full well that the movies all don't fit--with the exception of Bojack Unbound and Wrath of the Dragon.

The emperor of the Shi'ar thought the Xmen were good enough to train his kid.

I'm reading the Infinity series and Thanos said he is afraid of the Hulk and has been avoiding fighting him for years. I thought posters in this thread said vanilla Thanos was a boss who made him look like a small fry what gives?

It occurs to me that nothing would drive me to the side of evil faster than being called Kid [insert other super hero's name here].

Also, there have been like, four different Shi'ar Emperors during my lifetime.

Things change.

Thanos also made Deadpool immortal because Death is in love with Deadpool and Thanos doesn't want the competition.

Thanos did that? I thought it was just because his healing factor was stupid good, considering the last arc of Deadpool's book was about him losing it so that he can die.

How many times have the Endless come up in this thread? Or are Vertigo fans beyond the "who'd win" types of conversations?

There was already a New Avengers/Transformers Crossover, though it might not be exactly what you're looking for...

Spider man hits with about 10 tons of force, Cage is somewhere around 30-50. Iron Man and Ms. Marvel are somewhere around 75ish?

Hulk, Thor, and Hercules have lifting/hitting feats in the million ton range. An invasion wouldn't last very long.
Well, yeah. That's superhumans going up against regular Cybertronians. Let's see Thor & company take on Cybertronian superheroes/supervillains!

And speaking of Takara-owned robot IPs with insane power, I was always charmed reading about GaoGaiGar's techniques, not that I've ever seen the show. But seriously, one of his tools isn't even a weapon. It just opens up an alternate dimension where he goes, taking his opponent of the moment with him, so they can fight in peace without causing collateral damage back in the regular universe.

Ah yes, the dividing driver is awesome.

The Endless aren't really applicable in these debates, since they don't really have free reign over their powers. There's a bunch of arcane and complex rules governing their actions, and even without those their personalities don't lend themselves to confrontation.

Plus, despite being some of the most power beings in the DC universe they never come off as "cheap", because they don't do silly things.

(Death would win, obv.)

I always thought Mr Majestic was a bit cheap, he is WildStorm's superman but with none of the limitations and far more powers:

Mr Majestic

Abilities
Genius-level intellect
Superhuman strength, speed, senses, stamina, and longevity
Flight
Laser and Micro Visions
Ice Breath
Invulnerability
Energy projection
Vacuum support
Telepathy
Telekinesis
Skilled hand-to-hand combatant

He has all of the powers and none of the "oh but I was raised by farmers and won't kill" stuff, he is an Alien Prince Warlord ffs.

When Jim Lee was asked why he based Mr. Majestic so much on Superman, he stated that he was tired of seeing so many comic heroes who possessed great power but were too afraid to use it[citation needed]. Mr. Majestic possesses powers similar to those of Superman, but his personality is entirely different. Majestros has more militant views, as he is a Kheran warlord. The difference between the two is further portrayed when Majestros finds himself stuck on Superman’s Earth. The two manage to discuss their differing outlooks on the world around them: Majestic’s no-nonsense, all-business personality and Superman’s more subtle approach to things. Majestic reveals that he has put superhuman villains in stasis-prison without giving them a fair trial and getting into bouts with that world’s heroes, claiming he finds them dismayingly reticent

I love how content the Hulk is there. Umar slanders his sex game and admits to putting a spell on him and dude is just smiling.
