According to some she is. I think she has a good base to start doing more weight training and putting on some muscle. I understand thin doesn't mean healthy, but we don't know the real state of her health. Article is below if you don't feel like clicking the link

When Rachel Frederickson, 24, stepped out onto the stage at NBC's "The Biggest Loser" finale Tuesday night, some wondered if she had gone too far.
While the show is known for its dramatic weight loss transformations -- most winners lose more than 50% of their body weight -- Frederickson appeared extremely thin. And the looks on trainers Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels' faces could be interpreted as shock -- or dismay.

Frederickson went from 260 pounds to 105 pounds, losing 59.62% of her body weight. At 5 feet, 5 inches tall, that puts her body mass index at 17.5. Anything under 18.5 is considered by the National Institutes of Health to be underweight.
NBC on Wednesday declined to comment on its $250,000 grand prize winner, a voice-over artist who lives in Los Angeles.
Social media, however, was buzzing.

"Are you kidding?" One woman wrote on the show's Facebook page. "Rachel looks anorexic! She has gone from one extreme to the other!"
Other posts called Frederickson "frail" and said she seemed "dizzy" and "disoriented" on stage.

"She obviously worked incredibly hard to achieve her weight loss goals, but I am wondering if the pressure of winning a large cash prize caused her to take it too far," one said.

Others posted on Frederickson's Facebook page, asking her to get help and expressing disappointment.

"I'm saddened that my 13-year-old daughter watched as you were rewarded for doing that to your body," one woman said.

Frederickson as of Wednesday had not responded to the posts and had not commented on the controversy on Twitter.

BMI applies less on an individual level and is more utilized for population norms -- many people, such as marathon runners or endurance athletes have low BMIs and are perfectly healthy. And some people who eat well and exercise normally are just naturally thin.
However, losing a significant amount of weight using unhealthy methods can be dangerous, said experts unfamiliar with Frederickson. It's the darker side of weight loss -- as obesity is unhealthy, so is being underweight.

"Can you be too thin? Yes. Can it be as dangerous as being too fat? Yes," said Dr. Steven Lamm, weight management expert and medical director of NYU's Preston Robert Tisch Center for Men's Health.

Severe weight reduction can result in hormone disruption or bone thinning (reduction in bone density) and can affect women's fertility, as they stop menstruating, said Lamm and Dr. Robert Kushner, clinical director of the Northwestern Comprehensive Center on Obesity in Chicago.

Kushner said most of his patients lose about 30% of their body weight over the course of a year. "On the other end, I have patients with a BMI of 30 that are in perfectly good health," he said
Lamm notes the television show is about extremes, "not what we as a profession are looking at."

But "if I were to see this in a patient, I would be concerned about their emotional stability," he said.
Frederickson is "just below that lower end" on the BMI scale, Kushner said. "Not watching the show ... I really couldn't say whether she's unhealthy, or she shouldn't weigh that much. Because she very well could have a healthy lifestyle."
Still, "there are some people who we see for weight management who develop disordered eating," he said. "It's like a pendulum and they swing to the other end ... I don't see a lot of those patients, but I do see them."

Such patients are afraid to gain any weight because of their fear of again becoming obese, he said.

The real message, said Lamm, "is that people should appreciate that when they are overweight they don't have to lose 100 pounds to improve their overall health, that small changes in body weight can have a very sigificant impact on blood sugar, cholesterol.
"They shouldn't think that if they can't lose 100 pounds they shouldn't try."

Damn Auto Correct. It should say THIN not THING.

I think she looks good. It will always be a shock when people see a drastic weight loss.
Hell, I didn't even know how I looked until I saw the third pic of myself. The difference between the pictures is about 32 days.

If the BMI says its ok...its ok.

From what someone told me who worked on the film crew, they work them like dogs 24/7. They don't really eat anything and are constantly throwing up as a result of being overworked.

i think she looks fine.
i don't know if it'll be sustainable for her to maintain that weight long-term, so she'll probably gain back 5-10 lbs and look 'normal' to others.

I think she looks okay. BMI's not a great indicator of anything. She could put on some muscle and look even better.

I've dated a girl that was 5foot7 and weighed around there. 110 was as big as she ever got.

&tldr;
would

My wife watched the finale (which means I watched the finale too) and, having had family members who've struggled with eating disorders, I think she looked unhealthy thin.

Biggest Loser is completely unrealistic and unhealthy for every single contestant.
How and why?

The problem with the show is that it's inherently biased against female winners, as the women just don't have the same body proportions as these ridiculously large guys and thus have to get scary-thin if they make it to the end to try to win.

She was unfortunately doing exactly what the incentives of the show wanted her to do instead of stopping at a "good" weight.

Yeah, 5'5" 105 isn't about combating obesity and trying to get to a healthy weight anymore, it's looking more like she was just trying to get as low as possible.

She's 17.5? Honestly that's not that far from the range of healthy (18 to 25, I think). Just slightly underweight.

She looks pretty gaunt but I don't know if it's that's just her being a low weight or losing so much of it that quickly.

The outfit she's wearing does her no favours, too.

How long until she's back over 200lbs?

It should be noted that they don't drink or eat for like a week before the final weigh in. She probably gained 20 pounds of water weight within a few days. At least, that's what all the former winners say happens.

I hate to say this, but she looked healthier when she was big. Looks like she aged 20 years, and looks like she lost like 40 pounds of muscle.

I'm actually surprised at her outfit. At least for the few finales I've watched, the contestants were wearing clothes that obviously covered up loose skin.

Slightly underwent, which may be cause for concern, but plenty of "regular" people are at that weight and healthy. My worry is that she doesn't have enough muscle mass, but maybe she's planning on fixing that.

She looks skeletal.. :( I can't imagine she plans to gain weight, even if it's muscle weight. When you've been that big for so long there's a real thrill in finally being skinny like you imagined and gaining weight is pretty scary.

Cmon internet...she's trying to win money. I'm sure she isn't gonna stay at that weight. She'll probably be a healthy 300 lb again next year.

She'll probably put some (or most) of it back soon enough, but yes she does look rather thin now.

There is always a health risk to rapid weight loss, and a bigger risk if she can't keep it down due to no longer being in part of their extreme workout routines and nutrition plans, but hopefully they took the necessary precautions to prevent any serious issues.

Definitely looks too thin and gaunt. She will most likely put some weight on now as she has won the money, a lot of the Biggest Loser contestants lose more weight than they need to so they win the jackpot.

If she adopts a moderate diet plus some exercising (couple hours a week), she'll put on about 30 or 40 more lbs over the next few years and will be just fine.

This is stupid. Rather than cultivate a healthy relationship with food and exercise, these contestant are being starved and setting stupid high expectations. The girl is going to binge hard now, that's if she hasn't become a bulemic already.

She did it to win the money. Hopefully she can gain some weight to get back to a healthy weight and doesn't have any health problems.

But it doesn't, so...

Rule of thumb for women is 100 pounds + 5 pounds for every inch over 5 feet.

Models are like 110 at 5'10 and over. And do not look sick. If I'd ever want to look like say Beyonce, I'd have to be at 115-125. And we're the same height. I can look skeletal and be at a heavier weight than I am right now.

My goal weight would be about 115-125 pounds.

She looks way older, it's probably just the dehydration and she will be very pretty after a healthy diet without putting on too much weight.

She looks fine to me.

Also, my friend is into MMA and he always slims down to make weight and gets back up to his regular weight after the weigh in. I assume this woman was doing the same considering it was a weight loss competition.

Not everybody was made to have the frame of a model.

The thing you have to realize is that a lot of that is shedding massive amounts of water weight right before the show a la a boxer trying to make weight. Not sure I'm going to be that critical until I see what her standard weight.

its fucking ridiculous how hard they pressure these guys. I am not a fan of this show and I am scared this show will result in an unfortunate accident with a contestant.

There's really no support for that conclusion. Especially considering what these people go through to win.

I'm going back and forth on whether or not I have the energy to respond to this...

Her arms are kind of creepy thin, but as others have said she might not have won if she stopped (which is mostly a problem with the show).

That is a huge amount of weight to lose, what was the time span?

She looks much older than 24. Does that often happen to people who quickly lose large amounts of weight?
