Is the Zelda Wii U tech demo still impressive?

Honestly it looks too much like Twilight Princess in some aspects, but I wouldn't mind if the new Zelda for Wii U ended up looking like it.

Has Nintendo ever heavily downgraded a game? From what I remember, the graphical quality of their first party titles tends to go up as development progresses.

Could be argued more of an artstyle change, but they do seem much less detailed.

Not even back then. I thought back then it looks like an enhanced PS360 graphics. It looks somewhat nicer because all of the previous Zelda games look like they are in serious need of polygons injections and that demo finally showed what the game can look like with somewhat decent machine.

It looks good, but part of me doesn't really care for it because I know that the final product will look nothing like that.

Yeah I definitely expect a different art style. What I'm hoping for is animations as fluid as the demo. The way Link jumps to the side and recoils when he blocks in that second gif looks so good.

I get a lot of GOW3 vibes coming off of this, which is phenomenal for the zelda universe.

Nintendo will probably go with something else that won't be as "realistic" I fear. But man this would be awesome.

HNNNNG

God, they need to make this game at some point. Like, if the Wii U Zelda game uses a completely different artstyle that's cool, but I'll be upset if we never ever get a game that looks similar to this (or probably much better depending on how much time it takes) at some point.

Still looks good but it will be the art direction that will take the game over the top.

Skyward Sword looks gorgeous even today because of its impressive art.

It's less detailed, but it's pretty damn minimal. It's not what I'd call a "heavy downgrade". I'd argue it leans more on artstyle, and the "downgrade" part isn't extremely noticeable.

It's Pit's wigs and hair that are the biggest downgrades, but to be honest I don't think this really counts anyway. Character renders like these are about as indicative of the final product as CG trailers (like that one with Link on this page).

Yes, it still looks impressive. However, I don't really want the next Zelda to look like that. I want a souped up version of Skyward Swords Artstyle, as it was amazingly beautiful but somewhat held back by the Wii's lack of hardware power.

Zelda Skyward Sword Looks + Anti-Aliasing + Lots of Details/Shaders+ 720p + 60 FPS + 1:1 Motion Controls = my dream Wii U Zelda game.

Won't probably happen...

off-topic question... is there a reason a use would get downgraded from full member to junior member? would moderator send that user a message and tell them why?

If the user said something fucking stupid or kept making bad/pointless threads then they would have their Member rights revoked to prevent them from making said bad/pointless threads.

and odds are you'll know exactly why without a message.

I think there's a greater chance of a Skyward Sword like art style returning than there is of motion controls. I'd be really surprised if the new game used them at all.

To me the most impressive thing about the Zelda demo is the lighting, and that it's a smooth 60 fps. Wii U has demonstrated with 3D World and Mario Kart that it can do both well, simultaneously. No reason this should be out of reach.

It looks fine. Graphical power is not the most important thing in a Zelda game.
All the Zelda's till the Wii have relied on graphical power (Majora's Mask needed the expansion pak to even work). Though I hate graphics are treated as a one way street here.
Edit: I would even say Skyward Sword suffered for it. The lack of memory and crappy resolution held it back, majorly.

It still looks pretty good. The WiiU might have been a success had Nintendo launched the console with a Zelda looking like that, but that ship had sailed long ago.

It still looks fairly technically impressive, but I don't really care about that. Zelda works better visually when they do something artistically with it and the one in that demo always looked terrible to me.

Well if we rely on history we would expect the game to look better than the tech demo. A tech demo that was stated made in a short period of time. I think just with all the negativity surrounding the Wii U hardware most people believe those graphics are not possible. I am just going to take a wait and see approach.
I hope everyone realizes this is a foolworthy proof, at least epistemologically speaking.

It was not final retail hardware is what he is saying. Rumors at that time is that the GPU was HD 4850 and even CPU quad core... but it is on what you believe

I was under the impression that it was generally accepted that the "Wii U was downgraded" rumor was debunked.
