Black Tar isn't even the best battle music in Xenoblade Chronicles X. Uncontrollable is much better.

Something about Wir Fliegen always hooks me. Maybe it's the hilariously bad German pronunciations. Like, I'm pretty sure the song isn't actually any good, but I found myself grinding for infinite overdrive builds just so I could have it as my permanent battle theme.

Because the lyrics 99 percent of the time are awful, and they don't work nearly as well being looped depending on length of a fight like most battle themes do.

I'm not saying it's not a battle theme, just no way in the running for best.

Ah, okay. I got you. I can definitely see where you're coming from with that. It can sound weird, especially if the fight has phases and the music chances with it. The inclusion of lyrics makes the switch a little more jarring. FFXV and especially Nier Automata has a lot of good battle themes with lyrics though and they handled the switches very well. Most of Automata's tracks have lyrics and in my opinion it has the best soundtrack of the generation, bar none.
