Yes this thread is hilarious but then when you step back and see how much money Nintendo is making from the Wii you seriously have to acknowledge that as a company like Sony.

Newly found patent documents show that Sony has been hard at work creating a new motion controller for the Playstation 3. "gofreak" over at the NeoGAF forums was the first to stumble on the patent applications.

As stupid as this looks on paper, in reality I am sure this could lead to a cutting edge gaming experience. I have nothing against waggle, I have something against tacked on controls for gimmicky experiences. Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime, and Wii Sports should be proof enough that Waggle can be done right.

It only holds true for Metroid Prime. Wii Sports really isn't that fun, and Mario Galaxy would have been much better off with a traditional controller.

oh, SNAP! Judging by the threads' reaction, and how this thing is being received... it's like shades of Wiimote and Wii console name unveiling. Looks like Sony's got a winnar on their handz! ;P
 
Kind of silly looking, but it looks functional as far as both being a PS3 controller and a Wiimote which is ideal if they are going to go down this road. The steering wheel looks interesting.
 
This is great though, I hope the instruction manual comes with this stellar art... it'd probably be worth owning.

The more I see from Sony the less I care . . . someone has to go the way of SEGA at some point and MS aint leaving til Sony does. (Sony to be replaced by Apple someday?)

Patent applications are created with the purpose of protecting the concept not the actual final design.

I know its fun to laugh at big companies but show some thought.

Its like laughing at the characters in a TV Show because you think the people are just like that in real life. It isn't representative.

I don't understand the ignorance in this thread. Are you people that dense to actually believe this is the final design? Sony would never in a million years release a motion sensing dildo. The technology behind it is what is interesting. Realistic 3-d motion sensing via Sonar is a pretty fascinating idea. However, since its the fashionable thing on GAF to troll the fuck out of everything, hey, keep on truckin'.
 
I'm excited about this tech. Waggle is a cool concept, but currently isn't executed well enough on the Wii to cater to the hardcore.

I'm not sure how they'd introduce it on the PS3 though...

New PS3 redesign, new controller + eyetoy pack in, for 299 next fall confirmed and EyePet packed in? Who knows...I just don't know how they'd get around the splintered userbase.

As fare as I care it's like that "before E3" rumor about the HD twins whiping out their new Motion controls . . . than motion controls went from "waggle" to " Coooollll!!!! Theyz gonna out do Nintendo!" to the HD fan-boys (well half . . . some pulled the "Im going PC!" line).
Edit- Wow, PH proves my point before I even read his post!.

The design looks retarded but I don't care about that as much as the over all thought paired with where Sony stands right now in gaming.

its not even gonna happen. they're patenting it so that others dont steal it or make it later when they already did
