It's 2016, and I have questions about NeoGAF

Opiate said he doesn't usually ban people he debates, but that doesn't mean he doesn't ban people. Plus he's no longer a mod.

I'm going with XANDER CAGE

Edit: Dammit!

Ah, he made the current Dark Souls |OT|. He stepped down right?
If by "stepped down" you mean we hacked him to death with axes and fed him to the Blood God, and reassigned his account to one of the Modbots, then yes. Once you're in, there is no out.

Since he wasn't a mod at the time of this thread, why would you have been mad with someone posting the Forum Staff List?

Is it Sto0ge?

Well, this thread certainly did get a lot of questions when I was asleep. Since everything was about mods on the last few pages:

How do people end up becoming mods?

Selected by committee, approached, included, then they cut the bottom of your feet and feed a tube with a white substance into your heart, the blood drips from your body while the substance (some sort of ethanol i think) courses through all veins and arteries to cleanse out your real blood, then the process is inverted and in the end your blood is changed to a sort of blue, paste like substance which inhibits real feelings.

Once or twice a year, we make suggestions as to people we feel like might be good on the team, and EviLore either takes those suggestions or doesn't. It's been a while since the last batch so I would expect more sometime in Q1 2016.

I've been waiting for my tag for 5 years. Still don't have it. It's how the mods keep me in check. They know if they gave me one my ego would get way too big, and I'd get banned.

I like our current crop of mods, the prominent ones definitely have their own unique styles.

^ you kissed a mod :D ewwwwwww

I remember before I had a tag I would have dreams about getting one and I would wake up disappointed.

Never had a dream of becoming a mod guess it's not my destiny.

Ah, so it's a recommendation thing. Yeah I didn't expect gaf to do any sort of application process - you'd probably end up inundated with a lot of fake applications if you did (that's my experience from moderating other forums, anyway).

I like this explanation. Feels very sci-fi. I assume it's the same sort of blood infusion anyone working in customer service is administered during yearly "health checkups".

So I have a legitimate question that I cannot find the answer to for the life of me. I have looked through the FAQ several times and still nothing came up...

Is the process of going from Junior to Member automatic or does the user have to be approved by a moderator?

I remember becoming a Member after about two months of browsing. Is it based on time or what? I know this no longer applies to me but I am just curious.

3 months (or so)
300 posts (or so)
And I would be legit shook if it was automated

Manually going through 300 posts for QA seems tough, but at the same time members are approved to be juniors manually (I think?) so it also wouldn't have seemed implausible if true.

Yeah accounts have to be manually approved.
