It's already February, where is this Playstation Event announcement?

Hajiki said:
Even by MassiveAttack´s own admission this is WRONG.
Its not because some no name website that says it that we should start rewriting history.
There is no argument here, PS2 was playable for the general public fall 99, period, end of story, no discusion possible.

ok, good, we understand now. Please STFU?

Didn’t you (or was it TTP?) say the event would be between 24-26?

If there is no news next week I have lost all hope for this "feb festival".

From the event page for Makuhari Messe:

※事前の開催告知を希望していない催物は掲載しておりません。 主催者の都合により掲載内容が変更になる場合がございます。

We do not publish the entertainments which do not desire advance opening notification. There are times when publication contents become modification depending upon the circumstances of the sponsor.

Also keep in mind that Makuhari Messe is a massive exhibition venue (the largest in Japan) and that several events can go on there simultaneously.

Hmmm, the AOU show is on the 17-18th.

The arcade shows always seem to coincide with videogame ones. Still a chance it could happen ...

You still dont get it do you?
Even if there is a public Sony event in three weeks, you still lied.

You have the level of professionalism of Josh Robinson and you sound like a whiney little girl...Can't you see that I and most others here have alot of trouble not pinning you as a fanboy because of dwelling on every word? These other people are press (TTP, Massiveattack)...that's 2 against 1. You have questionable credibility, as well, as you leak information to the likes of Kotaku.com. They're practically bad, or worse, than the rags, "the inquirer" and "Sponge".

What are you trying to prove here?

For the last time, I DID NOT LEAK ANYTHING TO KOTAKU, they saw a post I made on a members only forum and ran with it.
I have never been in contact with kotaku nor will I likely ever be.

Massiveattack willingly lied, I called him out on that yet somehow that makes me the one who should not be trusted?

I've never lied about anything - check my post history. I simply made a distinction between "demos" and "playable titles". The former were exhibited at TGS 99. The latter at PS Festival 2000. There is simply no question that SCEI held off showing the fully playable launch lineup until PS Festival.

Do a Google seach and you'll find many credible sources that make the same point I did.

^ this is what I remember.

Besides, MassiveAttack hasn't been a 'liar' in the past, so this feet-kicking crusade to call him out as one is kind of embarrassing... kind of bitch-like, actually. :)

So how long would the consenus wait before deciding that a Feb event is unlikely? First week of the month is already over & time is indeed running out. I think we may get something after the retail/developer conference in March w/ an late spring launch for JP holding true for their original plans. Possibly the online system may be the reason for delay as Sony may want to present something better/more feature rich than Live. Who knows........

If there's nothing announced by the end of this week then I would think it's pretty safe to say it isn't happening. The event would need 2 weeks notice for publicity, people to make arrangements etc.

well, even though this 'event' doesn't have official dates out in the open, someone from Sony (Kaz?) did confirm a big surprise before the end of the month, didn't he?

I agree, end of the following week is a good deadline to follow. Still doubt on this Feb thing because of the said reasons Sony may want to be presentable (online or maybe time for more playable demo's).

That was Saeki, he said that they were planning a surprise in the way the event would be held.

Actually it was Masatsuka Saeki at SCEI who said a surprise event was planned for February.

Well if it does happen, one thing's for sure it will be carnage on the forums.

A full-on Sony hype train hitting when Microsoft are probably at their weakest due to all the 360's launch problems.

Will easily score an A+ on the GAF entertainment scale.

I just want to see VGT (or GT5 if they're ready to call it that) again. In the last build we finally got to see what the cars will look like, now its time to see what the courses are going to look like.

Maybe we'll get a streaming-live event like some of the big pc events (Apple's for instance). A true showcase for their future online Live service to test their servers. :)

If that happened GAF would implode.

Whoa, whoa, whoa...what is this:

Stolen from B3D:

"I found this at the official Playstation forums

Quote:
At my local mall, where the whole santa thing gets set up, there is this HUGE thing being put together. Today I asked one of the workers what they were building it for, and he said "It's for that new Playstation thingy." (He was like 60+ yrs old, just FYI) So hopefuly it is for the PS3, and others will see these in thier malls also.

***UPDATE*** 2/3/2006

They finished the kiosk today and there is a tarp-like thing attached to a square frame around the top and bottom of the kiosk that reads "Your PS3 information center, coming 2/28/06. Welcome Chang3" So it is definitly for the PS3 I am guessing it will have all the info that is realesed at the Playstation Conference in Feb.

http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=ps3&message.id=245928

If this guy is telling the truth, then we're on the verge of massive PS3 promotion by sony."

He said it was being set up at the Capital City Mall in Camp Hill Pennsylvania.

Massive promotional PS3 campaign in your own back yard FOR THE WIN.

Could this be true?

(Insert I want to believe UFO pic here)

Let's hope so, I'm interested in seeing *something* come along prior to E3.

You're damn right I want to believe. News is one thing, but if we could see this thing up close and personal and by the end of the month...

The utter lack of any worthwhile news is making everyone borderline desperate.

PS3 could be a trashcan for all I care...I just want to see the damn thing and know what it has to offer.

I'm sure we have members in that area who could verify.

That was Saeki, he said that they were planning a surprise in the way the event would be held.

they had the Akihabara Sony fair, i'd like to see them do that again - basically they turned Akiba into a mini festival style thing with different stages showing different stuff.

If they did that for the PS3 announcement, then that would be pretty cool.

Camp Hill is right outside of Harrisburg which I'll be passing through on Friday. Maybe I'll get a chance to hop down there but I sort of doubt it. It's odd no one has reported seeing anything at like... the King of Prussia mall or someplace larger.

Suprise Marketing? PLayabale units? (doesn't seem likely at this point)

They could be setting up widescreen HDTV's at major malls running game clips for the public to see in Hi-Def.

Capital City Mall? Kiosk?? Why there & why build a kiosk for just PS3 info when it's susposedly almost a year away from US release & just about everything can be learned of from the 'net.

The post was originally started on 1/29 then he updates it twice from apparent visit's to check the progress YET does not obtain any pic's while asking for the flamer's to hold their ammo. I like to believe, but this seems fishy.

Stop by man you have to. Do it for the PS3 future buyers.

I agree with you that it seems fishy, but if it's not supposed to be public knowledge until its ready for unveiling, perhaps they won't confirm its existence over the phone. Someone should go and check it out in person to see if it is indeed legit.

This is on page 3 by the parent;

I dont have a digicam, or a scanner and i could care less if ppl dont believe me. Juat trying to share the wealth here.

For a playstation forum w/ many sony fanbots- you'll think he'll atleast make the effort for his fellow brethen's.

The funny thing is the man told the world the actual mall, so if he was lying couldn't somebody just go there and catch him in "this lie"?

I say we GAFFERS take a "ROAD TRIIIP"!!!!

I live in Philadelphia, like 20 minutes from the 2nd biggest mall in the US. If the King of Prussia mall doesn't have a PS3 kisok, I do not see why the mall in Camp Hill, PA gets one. I smell BS; I'm not going to drive 2 hours or more to check though.

It's a lie. The website for the mall has no such activities for the concluding month of Feb nor did the one of the poster's get any confirmation of any kiosk being build.

That's weird. I called the mall and spoke with Mary Lou, and she said no such information booth has been under construction the past couple of days. She also said that no such booth is scheduled to open on the 28th of February. She suggested I call back on Monday to confirm this, and I think I will. I don't believe the original poster is lying, but I do believe I spoke to the wrong person. I'm just reporting my findings. I'll keep everyone updated!
