I dont think hack and-slash are dying.I consider games with non-stop action,and the consistent pressing of buttons to be hack and slash;For example.
1.Ninja Gaiden
2.Bayonetta
3.God of War
4.Dynasty Warriors
5.No more heroes
6.Afro Samurai
And many more.

Look, I don't give a fuck what your distinction is or isn't about what is hack and slash.

I just played DW8, and it was fucking amazing. Gameplay is the best it has ever been, even if the storm rush and story wasn't as heavy.

Do people just outright ignore all the games that came out this year, and in the past years, and declare it all dead? Bayonetta, DMC4, DW7, that Double Dragon remake, etc.

(Although, I'm lumping it all into the action genre. Dragon's Crown is an Action RPG yet stil applies as a Beat'em Up also.)
