Just started watching the Nodame J-Drama, having seen the anime. much more enjoyable than I thought. The guy playing Streisman is a hilarious.

I have been watching My Boss, My Hero pretty much nonstop these past two days. The show is so awesome. I am a little past halfway in finishing it and aside from a few problems (like how nice and accepting and clean the school is), it is totally awesome.

Damn you sped through it. I am still waiting to get the first episode.

Watching this at the moment along side with the anime.

That guy freaks me out. :lol

My Boss, My Hero was awesome with the exception of the ending. The guy playing Makki has some awesome facial expressions.

His name is Nagase Tomoya. You should check out "Tiger & Dragon" (he plays another Yakuza character) and "Ikebukuro West Gate Park". Those are two of his best dramas in my opinion.

My problem with completed series is that I have no self control when it comes to how many I watch. I did the same thing with Hanakimi and Hana Yori Dango.

I have both the first episodes of those. I might watch Tiger and Dragon first if only because it continues the Yakuza stuff.

The ending? Why? I mean, were you hoping
ended up with Minami sensei (I thought that was her name) ?

It was mainly
because they alluded to many things, yet they kind of dropped them for a potential sequel. One was his teacher and him involved (although, that would be a bit weird in a way), stopping the entire boss ceremony at the end so he can go back to high school, and also some smaller things here or there. I like that they did show Kazu going to school or at least studying for it (but I was expecting him to be in Minami's class). They never explained what happened to his association either; they should have shown his brother incharge or father remaining for the time being or something. They also didn't follow up with Kuroi liking Minami.

also, in general I am kind of disapointed that Sakurakoji turned out to be straight. Kazu even thought what I was thinking the entire time.

For me the best ending would have been a few years later (maybe 2 or so) where Umemura meets Makino for a date and you also see the association changed by what Mikio learned in school at a time. Also, Kazu would be in college at this time while Mikio would most likely be starting up his business.

the ending to me seemed like it was to leave off for a sequel or at least an sp...but since the show aired in 2006, there doesnt seem to be anything like that.

:lol his band did the whole do!do!do! marketing? awesome.

ive also noticed that the in most cases, the lead actor or actress of a series sings the main theme.

Sakurakoji was pretty ghey acting, I agree. Yet, so was Kazu. I think there is a thin line between senpai admiration and sexual feelings that we westerners can't pick up. Of course, twice at the end of the show Sakurakoji was accused of being gay. So, I don't know. Bullying still happens in Japan, it seems? Like, that shit doesn't fly in America. Why? Cause if you bully someone, they will go home, get a gun, and kill you the next day. Nevada-tan is just Tuesday here.

I dunno how many of you are watching Last Friends (you really should be) but man, today's episode ends with a fucking MEGATON.

I've been watching Last Friends from the first episode. Kind of like it, although some parts are a bit hard to believe (why they still haven't gone to the police boggles my mind).

Also, I just realized a few episodes back that Ruka is Ueno Juri, the main actress from Nodame Cantabile. Yeah, I am slow. :lol

Yeah, there's actually a couple of Nodame cast members in Last Friends. :)

haven't watched episode 5 of last friends, but
i would not be upset if sousuke kills himself like he was about to in the preview!

probably not going to happen, though. grrr

Ep 6 right?

I'll have to catch up, I haven't watched ep 5 yet.

I couldn't find a Japanese movie thread but...

Just watched the Crows 0 live movie based on the Crows manga...

It was fuckin awesome... Crows is the prequel to Worst if anyone follows that... If anyone likes that high school gangsta delinquent fight shit, I suggest checking it out...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lLpQuo8fh4

It was directed by Takashi Miike...

Fucking proposal daisakusen has got to be the most maddeningly frustrating show I've ever seen.

Fuck you ken you spineless twit. sususususususu... show should be a tragedy; for ken. Tada san is a fucking champ though. I'm finding it incredibly hard to barrack for that numbnut right now, especially when Tada proves himself to be just so right. Smooth operator, doing well.

Still, Rei is just as bad as ken... both of them wanted each other, neither could initiate jack shit. Just that she had some one to move onto, and Ken didn't.

Still, the actual ken actor himself would be swimming in pussy.

Started watching Koshonin and I like it very much.

I finished six episodes of Last Friends too. That show is great, but it's hard to watch because Michiru is so mind-searingly weak and stupid. It makes me feel like I'm watching Nana all over again.

I am not sure if it really belongs here or not, but I watched Crows Zero and would recommend it to anyone else. Who knew Oguri Shun could be such a badass? Who knew that freaking Densha Otoko could be such a badass!

I never read the Crows manga, but does it have the same characters and all that? is it worth checking out? what about Worst?

I am glad they are making a sequel to the movie.

Just started watching Kekkon Dekinai Otoko.

First episode was decent. Look forward to more episodes.

That is a classic and one of my all time favorites. Check out Dragon Zakura for more Abe Hiroshi.

I'm still halfway through Hotaru no Hikari. Ayase Haruka is amazingly pretty. Btw, Abe's cute neighbor in Kekkon Dekinai Otoko (the one with the dog) is also a prominent character in Hotaru no Hikari.

Speaking of Abe Hiroshi, everyone should watch "Trick".

It's a drama released this year about a mentally disabled mother and her relationship with her daughter. One of the best Japanese drama I have seen aside from Densha Otoko.

More information about the show.

I really haven't felt so good inside from watching a show in a long time. It is also easy to understand if your Japanese isn't advanced and you are watching without subs.

I've only read a single chapter of Crows, but the only name I see in both places is Bandou. And I don't know that it's the same guy or not.

Worst is my favorite manga. It's pretty similar to this movie's plot pace: setup, lots of dudes talking, some small scuffles, then a big blowout brawl, repeat. I like the author's humor and the way he draws buildings. :)

I didn't know there was a part 2 due out for CZ, though. That's awesome.

Yeah I have Dragon Zakura on my list. Is Hotaru no Hikari comedic as well?
His Neighbor's friend is pretty hot as well.

Wow, that was great, thanks for the heads up , i would never have watched that had it not been for this thread!

I must not "get" Trick. They played it on TV here and it was just bad. It felt like a rejected Detective Conan plot or something. Is there more than just the 3-episode thing?

But Dragon Zakura is pretty cool. Abe, and the guy from Love*Com, and the girl from Sailor Suit and Machine Gun, and the chef from Delicious Proposal, and Nogiwa Yoko from like 900 other series.

Did anyone here watch Bengoshi no Kuzu? I liked that one a lot.

So I can spend another $90 on the saikyou edition DVD? Awesome.

It totally
left off on a cliffhanger.
Can't waaait for the second movie.

...and the third and the fourth and the fith... *dreams*

So yes back to dramas. I still only saw episode 1 of Rookies & Gokusen 3.
Don't think I'll be watching Gokusen. Need to make time for Rookies though.

I might check it out, it also has Namase Katsuhisa who was awesome in Ashita no Kita Yoshio. Only concern is that it sounds like a cop drama. I am not a fan of cop drama.

I read the first chapter of Crows online and the characters I did notice were the three freshmen (at least I am pretty sure they are the same people). I didn't think it was that great in the first chapter, but maybe it needs time to pick up and I might pick up the first volume or so. I will read some Worst before going out and buying the entire bundle, but I like how Suzuran is set up and more stories in that place are awesome.

They need to make a Crows game. Closest I can think of River City Ransom.

Sadly there will be only two movies. Apparently it was never planned for there only to be one movie, it was gonna be a two movie thing and thats it. The sequel is 8 months after the first movie ended. I do hope there is an anime of Crows or Worst given the popularity.

I just want to know who the hell Rinda-man is.

It's got the evil girl from LIFE in it!

Do you read Japanese? Only volumes 1-3 are available in English because DMP is a bunch of asslicks. As for the game, I wonder about those... I think they're called Kenka Banchou, on PS2? Those look kind of Worst-ish.

There's an old Crows OVA, but I've been looking for it for a year or so and haven't seen it available by any means.

For a minute, I thought Rinda-man was Guriko, but the ages wouldn't line up properly, so it can't be.

A Worst movie with Guriko would be the best thing ever put on film. Ever.

I saw about that Crows OVA, but it was apparently only in Japan and I can't find out any real info on it on the internet. I can't read japanese, but I can at least read the first three volumes.

and I remember Kenka Banchou, I might have to look more into that now, but it might be harder to find.

and yeah, Worst takes place 2 years after Crows, and Crows takes place some time after Crows Zero. Anyone in Crows Zero would most likely be gone by Worst.

This drama drove my wife and I mad by the end. It got to the point where we didn't want to continue watching it.

This is kinda random but I just remembered it, but if anyone watches Sasuke/Ninja Warrior and Rookies, the actor who plays Sekikawa took part in the most recent one (20th). I was pretty surprised when I saw him because he still had his mohawk and all that.

Yes, Hotaru no Hikari is a very funny comedy. It's almost like the reverse of Densha Otoko, about an office lady who's hopelessly incompetent at love. She dresses nice for appearance at work, but is a total slob at home and likes chugging down beer.

I think she's so pretty, I have a huge crush on her now.

Hey, I know her. She was in Shikaotoko Aoniyoshi and Rookies, but she always reminded me of a cheap Nodame because she acted similar and Tamaki Hiroshi was the male lead in that drama.
