Since the game is celebrating the 45th anniversary of Weekly Shonen Jump, we are making the assumption that it is only characters from that specific magazine.
What the deal, over here all the different characters are owned by different entities, so it would almost be impossible to see it here?
Tat vs Cap worked cuz most of those characters were super old and not used recently over here so they were cheap to license?

Actually, they took out a character in TvC when it was localized, and I think it was because of licensing? The genie guy, I believe.

DBZ, Bleach, One Piece, and Naruto are all decently big over here, seems impossible.

Basically that if there's going to be a playable character from HxH it will most likely be those two, as they are the main 2 characters.
Just saying it'd be nice of we had someone else (i.e a third character) so it wouldn't be just those two, as I see it very unlikely to have a HxH character that its not one of those two (i.e a Dragon Ball rep in the game being someone aside from Goku, and Goku is not playable).

Don't be an idiot, that doesn't mean they couldn't have carried on with the principles that made the series unique. Right now this looks about as generic and uninspired as anime fighters get.
The problem is that while Viz owns all the WSJ manga in the states, they do not own all the anime. I know they own Naruto and Bleach, but Funimation owns Dragon Ball, One Piece and Toriko. Checking their pages, Rurouni Kenshin and Gin Tama are owned by other companies.

Maybe it's a stretch, but they could possibly do the same thing as Sega, Namco Bandai & Capcom did with PxZ. Not sure how, but it's possible. I think.

This might be the first game i ever localize. I'm seriously excited for this game just because I can be Gintoki and luffy and beat up Toriko and naruto. As long as the fighting is fun I don't think I'll mind if the game doesn't have an advanced fighting system.
I hope Oga Tatsumi (Beelzebub) and Bossun (Sket Dance) make it because those are my 2 most wanted besides Gintoki and Luffy who's already in.
I highly doubt a localization since I'm guessing most of the anime's they'll be pulling are from various license holders in America. So I'll just be extra sure and just localize it.

it was the 5th best selling manga of 2011 and 11th of 2012, in both those years it sold more then bleach and gintama so i don't see anything wrong with toriko being there.
Also the anime has one highest rateings among shounen right now above naruto,fairy tail and gintama.
Yes it's very successful just not the one piece level success shounen jump wants it too be.
I don't know why they would ape another developer just because they both feature Jump characters. It's also little bit too early to dismiss the game as generic and uninspired since there aren't a ton of details about its combat mechanics or the like yet. And now that I think about it, the only unique thing I remember about JSS's combat was using the touch screen to summon support characters.

I think the only way this could possibly work in the US would be if these characters have no relation to their respective anime properties at all... They would all be based on the manga licenses, so Viz could claim all of them in theory. Which would basically mean no voice acting. I don't think that would go over well.

he realizes he can't do anything without friends and gives up, recreating the lamest ending in manga history at the end of each match.
Would love to see this come over, but it has about as much chance as E.X. Troopers or One Piece Unlimited World Red.
