Jade Raymond's Assassin's Creed: Teaser trailer

Blim & crew just did some serious embargo breaking. Not that most people here care.
No we did not. Do not accuse us of anything if you have no proof what so ever about it.
For once a publisher actually gave us Europeans an exclusivity over the big US sites, we were allowed and even encouraged to post anything from the press conference on our sites. Videos or impressions.
The rest of the stuff, direct feed screens, direct feed videos (unless they are on the public ubi.com ftp site) and tomorrow's private presentations are all embargoed until 6 PM CET tomorrow and we will respect that to the letter.
Don't worry, when you will post all your stuff you got to film 2 weeks ago and had all the time in the world to work on, we'll still be at the event with our camcorders, so everything will be back to normal for you.

I like how you, Phil, generalise a whole people though :). Perhaps not the brightest idea if you want people to understand where you are coming from!

I could go on such a rant about producers, that title and the requirements to become one.

I think generally over time any company that treats their employees badly is going to loose their top talent (the talent that have the option to go anywhere they want) so it's short-term thinking for slave houses.

The game looks awesome though, and I hope people enjoyed working on it. Gameplay looks exciting, atmosphere is fantastic etc. Can't wait to see more!

THANKS BLIM BLIM!

If these two game producers have a child, its going to have awesome graphics.

This game makes me want to watch Kingdom of Heaven in HD again. I looove the setting. I never cared for the setting until I watched KoH. Now it's really great to me. I need this game this year.

Shit. I should have quoted before the edit. That was some grade-A material right there.

He said Jade used to yell alot. She would scream even with the basement workers...send emails to the whole team...allways busting somebodys' balls...

obviously it's his first job hahaha

im working at that place for over 3 years now and while I havent worked on open season, I was told it was a really good project for ubi montreal... at least deadline-wise. (so yeah I guess there was a lot of overtime, but welcome to the buisness)

"Welcome to the business"... Ugh... That's pretty naive. You'll find out when you work in the industry more that the overtime you're doing is a result of bad scheduling and decisions from all angles. If you're doing overtime and it's mandated, there is a problem and you should go to your producer because someone goofed somewhere. There is absolutely no reason to do overtime, unless YOU want to squeeze in time to polish something.

He was basically saying she was some wild bitch, didn't knew what she wanted, allways under pressure. And then she would blow some steam on the workers....

****ed up shit.

The best part of all was this is what he heard, because he never worked with her.

the 2nd biggest reason why there's so much overtiming in games, next to bad planning, is people like baulieu who just ****ing sit down and accept to work for free, as it is often the case.

i used to get in trouble at ubi.
they're sneaky bastards.
they dont flat out come to you and ask you to work for free, no, they come to you with a restaurant menu, asking you what you want to order for supper. implying that you're staying late, thus getting a free lunch.

i would get a kick from asking: "well...i dunno...am i gonna get paid?"
and invariably i would get no as an answer.

im sorry, i dont ****ing work for free.
you want me to overtime? fine. but pay me. and pay me time and a half like the law says you're supposed to (in quebec atleast).

but somehow, that comon sense dosent apply to games. because "welcome to the business!" thats how we do things in games! you work for free!

i ****ing refuse.
and not to put myself on a pedestal, but if more new recruit had the same attitude, big studios like ubisoft would soon be faced with a hell of a problem, and would need to change the way they do things.

but no. everybody just accepts it.
it sickens me.

when my day is over, i go home and i work on my games.

ugh.

end rant, again.

He mentioned the fact that he was interviewed by two guys who had tattoos on their forearms, he said something about prince of persia, but from what i understood the tattoos said some shit like "Jade Raymond was here". Apparently, the whole team had them tattoos, which says all kinds of weird shit about that place. "You're either in or out", poor phil was out...

He also said something about the fact that the big shots at Ubisoft spent a considerable ammount of cheese on this project, but the rat infestation on the place dragged the whole project. I think it just a metaphor, but i'm not sure, he talks in riddles.

This game looks great. This might (let me emphasize, might) have been a reason for me to purchase a PS3 before it was announced for the 360.

I was really surprised one time (and not in a good way) when a game I was working on had a big interview with the newly arrived executive producer (and no one else from the actual studio) when he'd spent so little time with the game compared to, say, the lead designer... or even the actual producer. {shrug}

Don't be a douchebag.

Ok ok. Playtime is over :(

So apparently ubisoft is a harsh place to work in, well i guess that sucks since i really like their games and i allways got the feeling that they were pretty tight group.

Guess i was wrong.

Unfortunately, that is the game industry. There are a lot of people who absolutely love to work on a game and bite the bullet when it comes to salary and (the lack of/no) overtime pay. That is exactly the same situation in Japanese companies, but worse, they don't offer dinner :/

If that really bothers you, I hope you got a different job in a different industry. That's what I did ultimately.

Jade Raymond's Assassin's Creed

:lol

I gotta check out the trailer when I get home. I hope they don't run the series down like they did with Prince of Persia.

lol didnt someone else say she would act like shes the most important person or something long ago. i dont know if that is the same person phil_fish

Ya know phil, if you really do work at ubisoft you should write up a story about all things you know and experienced, id buy it :p

sp0rsk said:
I'll take that!

Awesome. :lol

And, yeah, phil, your stance is great. Putting in hours is one thing, but for it to be assumed it's for nothing is wrong. Bravo.
