James Bond: Aaron Taylor-Johnson ‘offered 007 role’ and is ‘set to replace Daniel Craig’

Glad they went with someone young.

Hopefully that means we'll get a decent number of movies out of him.

That made me wonder, the most Bond films an actor has appeared in is 7 (Connery / Moore). Daniel Craig did 5. Taylor Johnson is 5 years younger than Craig was when he took the role. Which means, he could be young enough to equal the record.

When you put it like that, it's a pretty big decision to take the role - Craig is 56 now (took the role at 38). For Taylor Johnson, if he does take the role he could be doing it for 20+ years.

Craig supposedly hated doing it, I wonder how many films they would lock an actor in for?

Yeah go down that rabbit hole. She was 42 and he was barely 18. In my opinion clearly a grooming situation.

Here's a guardian article, It's a wet March day in Pinner, Harrow, which is doubling up as suburban Liverpool, and the sun is refusing to shine. Taylor-Wood is crouched behind the monitor. With her blond hair plaited over her head and yellow-laced trainers, she looks like a little girl. Whenever the rain comes, she runs inside the house, arm in arm with 19-year-old Aaron Johnson, who plays Lennon. They dance and laugh like teenagers in love. I've never been on a film set with such a strange atmosphere. While the rest of the cast and crew are welcoming, Taylor-Wood and Johnson seem oblivious to the world. They are wearing matching padded jackets – hers has the initials STW stitched into the back, his has AJ. I ask Taylor-Wood if everybody has them. She smiles. "No, only me and Aaron. They all know who the top dogs are on this set."

Apparently that Lennon film has incest vibes too. Lennon has a weird history with his mom.

Bond reflects reality now? Must have missed it among all the gadgets and Brosnan driving a tank in the middle of Moscow.
Yes, aspects of Bonds origin in particular should reflect reality as it grounds the character and the setting.

If you want an aboriginal woman to infiltrate nefarious networks and fight rooms of giant Samoan men in mecha armor using her psychic powers granted her by a digeri-doo made from the bones of an elder God that speaks to her in the form of a chlamydia ridden koala then go ahead, do it.

Just don't call her Bond.

Although I also was fond of Cavill playing the role, they really needed someone younger to make a couple of films. Craig was 38 in Casino Royal, a young man and in the later films they always made him old and grumpy.

Wouldn´t have mind a black Bond, if they gave him a good script. Because in the end it doesn´t really matter who plays the role - it´s the story they tell that makes a good movie.

Just saw him in Nocturnal Animals--very different role from anything else I've seen him in and he did a great job. The guy has range. I think it's a good fit.

No he did not. Craig was the most uncouth Bond in the history of Bond.
I'm not a fan of 007 in the alightest and he was the main reason why i watched the last movies, so maybe he wasn't the best 007 but damn he was entartaining and had a great screen presence.

Agreed. Somewhere after Quantum, Craig just lost any enthusiasm for Bond and the series became so dreary. He had 1 film about getting into 00 service, 1 film as a 00, then THREE films about getting out!

Still, as stunt spectaculars there are great scenes across his run and he never quite descended into schlocky gadget territory like the others (the EMP watch in NTTD was a refreshingly light dose). I just wish he did more Bond stuff and less "Take this MacGuffin to Q and/or Moneypenny to get the next clue" and then react to the OBVIOUS bad guy next action he should have anticipated and at least tried to thwart.

Regarding Cavill I think that to be Bond you have to pretty much give up everything else and dedicate yourself to being Bond, no? At least that's what I read a while back. He might not be willing to do that considering hes working on Warhammer and presumably some other projects.

He was better in kick-ass than bullet train imo, but still good, cavill seemed like a shoe-in though.

In my opinion clearly a grooming situation.
Don't be silly, you can't groom an adult, if he can choose to vote on whoever he wants, he can choose to smash any 40, or older, year old woman he wants.

Not the worst casting. Could probably do a decent job, I remember thinking Daniel Craig was not a good choice until I saw Layer Cake, so I've been wrong in the past. I still would have been down for Idris Elba.

Calling bullshit. They haven't got a script or a director for the next film and according to numerous Barbara Broccoli interviews, including as recently as last month, work has barely started on the new film. There's virtually zero chance they sign an actor for the title character without at least one of those in place and historically the director (Martin Campbell in the last two instances) has played a part in the casting decision.

Also, this is coming from The Sun, which is the definition of tabloid clickbait. Maybe ATJ will become Bond eventually but the chances of it being now are slim at best.

He’s a better actor than Cavill. I don’t understand the hard-ons for him (well at least not a hard-on for being Bond I understand hard-ons for him in general.)

Ask me about my terrible takes on Star Trek characters
Craig was decent. His movies were mostly shite, not his fault he mostly had shit modern creators behind his bond films

Casino Royale and skyfall were fantastic though

Still better ratio than Pierce Brosnan. Brosnan had the charm for the role, but was let down by poor writers, poor directors and bad timing (confusion over how to handle the Bond in a post-Cold War context. Goldeneye was his only good Bond movie, which is a pretty good

Hes a good actor, hes got range. Maybe a little safer of a choice but I dont hate it.

In lieu of the casting I hope they go for some more bold storytelling directions tho.

Cavill sorta played a Bond role in The Man from UNCLE. He looked the part and was really good I thought.

That was almost a decade ago though. He's too old for Bond now.

Roger Moore was older when he first played Bond. I do agree though that they're probably going to cast someone younger this go around. Probably 35 at the oldest.

Watch Nocturnal Animals where he plays the vilain

Dude is crazy talented

A little too "pretty boy", imo, but he got skills. With the right director and vision, it can work.

Will be unfair to compare his firts movie to Cassino Royale, 'cause that movie was just perfection in every way

I’m a Cavill dreamer but this doesn’t seem terrible. Dudes shown he can act good enough for Bond and could look the part.

And all those wanting Idris or another black dude, why can’t we just have an amazing villain or another 00 agent that he plays? I love Idris but not as Bond, as something else.
If the actor was good enough another agent could be a major part along side Bond for several movies.

He was pretty cool in Kick-Ass and Bullet Train (no, he wasn't better than Brad Pitt), but he's quite simply not good looking enough.

James Bond is supposed to be handsome.

We all know Henry Cavill was supposed to get it. Here's hoping that Man From U.N.C.L.E. sequel actually gets made now.

Can't dis the guy for this. They've been married for 12 years, got some kids, and she's pretty well heeled for an older lady. He gave up his entire wild youth for her (barring them being swingers or whatever which I guess is always a possibility) so if the guy just wants the married life it ain't any different than a BAZILLION dudes doing this in reverse.
