January Nintendo Direct Predictions/Expectations

According to Reddit "GameStop apparently tweeted and deleted that a Nintendo Direct was about to begin"
God damn

Heh, I thought this was crazy when I read it. Apparently these guys know something, but we're all still wondering when the Direct is gonna be. I wonder how it would be if they just spring on folks with like an hour or two to prepare....

Nintendo will thank us for being switch owners
Nintendo will celebrate the switches success.
Nintendo will tell us to be excited for many excitement to come.
Cue sizzle reel of already known games.
A third party or two showing something new for switch.
Some new apps for switch
Maybe some more info on a big 1st party Nintendo game.h

An unknown reveal at the end - Smash or Mario Party Switch (or both!)

Was Nintendo's tweet already mentioned? They just posted an image of Chibi-Robo on fire, the fire loosely resembles that of Smash. What could it be?

WTF? Bethesda replied with a Doom image, and Ubisoft with a burning character from ACO. What is happening?

Emily as usual will be right.

After playing doom and resident evil revelations 2 I cant wait for more ports.

Metroid definitely needs another year. The logo teaser was rushed out by someone with no connection to anything.

There was no theme, no original design, it screamed of an exec taking some newbie aside and asking them to make it because any actual team member would have opposed showing a logo for a game that hasnt begun to properly take form yet.

Having missed out on the last generation of consoles I would welcome this, here's hoping for some good quality ports during the course of the year with some 1st party sprinkled in for good measure.

Is there a direct today? I figured people here would know more.

I mean, clearly nothing has been stated, but I saw an article on Kotaku UK saying that there was going to be one?

What what whaaaaat. I took a nap and now this? Dark Souls? Ys???? The World Ends With You?? Did I really wake up? Why didn't they announce the direct a little longer beforehand, jeez.

Nice to see story mode in mario tennis. Tropical Freeze was obviously gonna show up sooner or later on Switch but nice to see.
Kinda meh on everything else.

Pretty good for a mini version.

I did not have a wiiu or 3ds, so im looking forward to

Zelda :hyrule warriors
Donkey Kong tropical freeze

As well as mario tennis

Because the wiiu didnt sell well, I think wiiu ports on the switch will be like new Exclusives to many Switch owners who haven't been with Nintendo in a while.

This mini seemed to be more aimed at the first half of the year, while the E3 Direct will likely talk about the big hitters for the holiday season.

Just from what was shown, I'll likely be getting Dark Souls, The World Ends With You, Donkey Kong, Mario Tennis, Hyrule Warriors and possibly Kirby depending on reviews. Not a bad first six months of the year.

Hopefully there's more additions for Mario Odyssey. The fact that the Luigi Balloon Hunt is free says quite a bit, I think. Or maybe they blow everyone's doors off and announce Odyssey 2 at E3.

Is that it? Where is Fire Emblem? Where is SMT? Where is NEW stuff?
We get indies, Mario Tennis, YSVIII (which I finished on PS4 already) and crapload of DLC for games no one plays. And the highlight is an old game that is outside of Nintendo niche? Basically, not a single thing I care about.
Oh, and Odyssey balloons. No thank you. If this is the roster for 2018, I am selling this system soon and will rebuy it when there is actual worthwhile stuff to play again. 2017 has been good. 2018 is looking like absolute crap.

shit, this forum is more level-headed as less drama prone than another, some users having meltdowns already.

was going to pick up DK but now I think on the switch.
also Dark souls on the move? might might be something I try who knows?

Holy shit that came out of nowhere. It may be because of Mario Tennis on Wii U but I'm so fucking happy to see it treated better than what we got last time. That game felt so lazy and half done that I'm glad to see they are putting effort into this one. Now new Mario Strikers plz Nintendo thnx.

Never played a Dark Souls, maybe I should finally jump in.

Ys looked fun and my nephew broke my DS before I could get my hands on TWEWY, so this will be my chance to grab that.

Lost my copy of DKC:TF so will be grabbing for the Switch digitally. Not letting that happen again.

Sad we didn't get any info on Yoshi Switch. Looking forward to that game.

EA's Fi looks super interesting. Didn't think I'd ever see a game like that out of EA.

I forgot PayDay 2 was coming to the Switch. I mean, I like Left 4 Dead and I heard good things about PayDay 2, but without crossplay with the PC version, is it worth it?

Maybe you should read the word MINI and calm your tits.

World Ends With You
Mario Tennis Aces
Maybe Dark Souls Remastered

Really all I'm interested out of what was shown. It was a good Direct for a Mini one, a little something for everybody.

Yeah man, clearly Nintendo has nothing for the latter half of the year...

Sometimes I wonder how some of you tie your own shoes.

Fire Emblem, SMT, new stuff are heavy hitters. I think the point of this was to confirm stuff that had been expected or rumored for a while. Donkey Kong had certainly been rumored for a long time. I think the new stuff is coming but they just didn't want to announce it yet; hence, the "mini" moniker. It's only January, be patient.

exactly the year is just beginning, stay calm my guy, they will have more coming out throughout the year.

I'm going to start an official thread so that a lot of the guessing and rumors won't be included and also a different title. This Direct wasn't announced at all.

I'm feeling hyped about Mario Tennis Aces!

Also totally re-buying Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze (awesome game). Never played The World Ends With You, but I'm interested. Haven't played that new Ys either, so picking that up on Switch. Don't care for Kirby, but my nephew likes him so will likely be playing that too. Never owned Hyrule Warriors on Wii U, so I'll get that. Also, Dark Souls 1 yo! That's two Motoi Sakuraba games on my Switch this year!

Mate. Mini. No "GIGA MEGA Direct for all 2018/19". Mini. That means mini, small, just a few things for you to pass these months until E3 and the big stuffs.
And Odissey balloons could be a drug.

Lmao, love the ending. We have a super secret trailer to show you! OMG, finally get to see Metroid Prime 4! And its Dark Souls remastered.

That was disappointing.

Thrilled with DKC:R! That and Bayonetta 2 are the two games I really wanted porting from WiiU having missed them and they'll both be on Switch before even half the year is out.

As a Wii U owner, I'm disappointed. Yet I expected as much. Games didn't sell well back then, here's an opportunity to cash in on existing software readily available for release.

Great to see TWEWY make a return, but I was hoping for a sequel.

I would take any new story set in the same universe, but not the same one I played back on the DS. :(

Feels like Nintendo is listening to internet voices lately. That's not always a good thing though.

The net has been screeching about dark souls for years but really - it's not for most people, let's be honest.

And where is Steep?
