Japan lines up for Taco Bell

I wish there was somewhere I could read impressions of Japanese people trying Taco Bell for the first time translated to English. Sounds entertaining.

Wot?! Fries at Taco Bell? Well this is new

Man I dont think they have the mexican pizza at the Shibuya Taco Bell. D:

Back to the AB it is... lol

Fast food chains taste different depending on the country.

That is not true, unless you are talking about different products (not existing on other markets).
Big Macs, Whoppers, KFC chicken burgers, Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks Sausage Rolls, etc are the same at least in NYC, Paris, HK, Tokyo, Seoul, Berlin, LA, Beijing, Sydney, Moscow. In the other hand, yes the exclusive french Raclette burger tastes different from the shrimp tempura burger.

Y'all make it sound like people worldwide don't enjoy questionable fast food. (And don't get me started about the atrocity that is Japanese pizza.)

lol. This is the first time I've ever heard someone call a fast food menu confusing. I mean they number the damn menu items for you! Just say a number and get food.

I'm used to ordering at places like In-&-Out, Habit, California Fish Grill.

Even more mainstream fast food places like Wendy's have more coherent menu layouts. The Taco Bell I went to had number splattered everywhere in different font sizes, combos here, items in between, etc.

Oh well, the first time a big fast food chain arrived in my town (McD) people waited in line like it was the second coming, road circulation was horrible around the block. Italy here, land of homemade pizza street food, cheap and available everywhere. Funny thing is: McD is everywhere, I'm sure they all ate there previously, there's another one in 30 km. It's something about having their own McD I guess.

I still can't have dinner there, I tried it out couple times at lunch but it's packed at dinner time, you gotta wait in line. Like, I'm not waiting in line at McD wtf if I had 30 minutes I'd cooked something at home...

They need to start doing that in the US. At least Taco Johns has Potato Oles as a side item. A smaller, lesser taco is NOT a side item in a combo meal. >:(

So weird how taco bell is associated with getting the shits. Ya'll got some weak stomachs, or what?

That conflicts with my subjective experience. A burger from McDonalds in Greece tasted vastly different than here in Canada, as did the fries. I actually preferred the taste of the Greek McDonalds food.

I'm surprised it took this long. Aren't they owned by the same company as KFC? And isn't KFC weirdly popular in Japan?

KFC is pretty popular in Japan. People preorder KFC family meals for Christmas.

There's also an urban myth, Curse of the Colonel, where a statue of the Colonel (every store in Japan has one) was tossed into a river after the Hanshin Tigers won The Japan Championship Series in 1985. After that happened, the Tigers went on an 18 year losing streak.

Do they have a chili cheese burrito? Because I might swim to japan for one of those. They got rid of them here.

God those things... miss them.

I hope the Taco Bell in Japan tastes better than the one here. It wouldn't be worth waiting in that long line if it tasted like the ones here that oddly can give me stomach aches once in a while.

From Singapore, I can tell you that KFC's chicken tastes vastly different in US (I prefer Singapore's by the way).
All burgers tastes better in US though, better beef.

Having our last Taco Bell in Singapore closed several years ago, when I went to the US, I had Taco Bell there.
Oh my god, was it terrible, this is not what I expected. I don't remember it tasting this bad in Singapore.

Side note, Japan's McDonalds just closed down 100+ stores.. They are really struggling to compete the past few years.

For as weird as Japanese pizza chains are, they have nailed authentic pizza.

Considering there are a lot of pizza places in Japan where the owner or chefs have actually studied in Italy must say that they do make some good stuff and you can tell take pride in what they make.

Does not seem like it the menu is quite "bare" in comparison to the US one anyways.

I want to try Taco Bell. Wish they'd come to the UK :(

EDIT: Holy shit. They already have. But only, like five places.
We got two in Sheffield, lol.

Aside from the nachos and fries, everything tastes the same as the states. Menu is tiny in comparison though. I want my Gorditas!

At least they're lining up for an opening

A month ago or so there was some Dairy Queen promotion where they were giving out a free vanilla ice cream, and there was a massive line of upper middle class people in downtown Minneapolis waiting for it. Like you pay 10+ bucks for lunch every day and you're going to wait half an hour for a free small vanilla ice cream?

You guys don't understand. Mexican food outside of the Americas is absolutely dreadful. Taco Bell is good in comparison. Plus, the food will be tailored specifically to their palates. Fast food chains taste different depending on the country.

yes, around here Mexican food all looks the same... crappy tortilla and chicken with dressing, no matter what they end up calling it. So cheap Taco Bell would improve this already, not to mention that it tastes better than $20 mexican dinners here.

Plus, as is with all of them, higher quality food outside of US, of course with higher prices as well.

Taco Bell in the US sold fries in the 90s. So it's old, really!

Funny they never did that back when I was still states side. Must have been a regional thing?

Interesting that they did have it in the US though lol

this is like people lining up at a local Krispy Kreme years ago near me. they went outta business a short time later.
