Jeb! for the second time cites 9/11 to show how Bush "kept us safe"

Apparently betting markets are finally starting to drop Jeb out of the frontrunner position.

It's amazing that so many people kept saying he was in a good position when it was quickly apparent that he was crashing and burning.

I thought he was still in the running until these stupid mistakes keep piling. He was a relatively scandal free governor and a successful one throughout his terms, shits like this shouldn't happen. Fucking hell.

Super weird bit on CNN just now ostensibly about Syrian Americans but at the end the chick being interviewed randomly spewed out a rehearsed Jeb! Speech. The interviewer was taken aback. It was a plant and a really bizarre one. Wonder if Syria is his replacement Cuba.

So no, please, tell us Jeb!

What did your brother keep us safe from, exactly?

Not from the right of citizens to bare arms silly! From the damn terrorists attacking again and by going to war and spending trillions, having thousands more die in the war and make America a paranoid state!

I don't understand how letting 9/11 happen was keeping them safe. Is he saying that his brother personally kept him safe. If so then that's extremely scandalous. Just a very confusing statement.

Im not trying to defend dubya, but you cant really blame school shootinga on him, that is just a cultural flaw in our culture since its inception

First terrorist attack of your presidency is a freebie

"Agreed!"

If that's his standard, then Obama has kept the country just as safe....but of course there isn't that whole 9/11 thing for Obama...

Pretty sure there's a branch of logic out there that goes as follows:

9/11 was Bill Clinton's fault.

Hillary Clinton was married to Bill Clinton.

Ergo, Hillary Clinton bears more responsibility for 9/11 than George W. Bush.

Bush kept us safe by invading Iraq (who had nothing to do with 9/11) and in the process 4,486 US soldiers died there to... open the doors for ISIS.

Thanks, Bush! I feel so much safer now!

The funny thing is, I don't even blame Dubya for doing a shitty job protecting us on 9/11. It may be that we would have gotten attacked even if he did pay attention to the repeated warnings.

What DOES piss me off is the idiocy of conservatives somehow using 9/11 as PROOF that he kept us safe. Like seriously, wtf?

The number-crunchers and analysts continue to fail to realize that this election cycle is markedly different. The Republican base has completely gone off the deep end, the result of 8 years of propaganda that has convinced them that Obama literally wants to destroy America and that compromise of any kind is tantamount to treason. They are not going to vote for a moderate. They want a crazy person.

Nate Silver can piss and moan all he wants, but Rubio or Jeb are not going to be the nominee. The Republican base hates the establishment. They held their noses and voted for Rmoney in 2012, and he lost. They're not going to do the same again. The nominee is going to be an insurgent. Most likely Trump, but Carson has a decent chance as well.

and the base can whine all they want but the establishment will make sure Jeb or Rubio will be shoved down their necks at all cost.

I actually think less of HW because he thought this dumbass was the heir apparent and his true successor.

Jeb makes Dubya look like Thomas Jefferson.

(and the guy who made a list of stuff that happened forgot about anthrax)

I haven't been reading 538 much this cycle (because it's terrible), but if he really is complaining, it's ironic because one of his first points in every interview I read before was that elections don't happen very often and there is too small of a sample to draw meaningful conclusions you can apply to the new one. Every election is very much its own thing.

This is really why I really don't want another republican in office anytime soon. Jeb Bush's entire campaign seems to be built on doubling down on dumb shit. "People were offended by our Redskins comments? Let's do it again. People are stunned by our 911 comments? Let's do it again." If that's not textbook neoconservative bullshit I don't know what is. Never admit you're wrong, constantly project faux bravado/confidence, go down with the ship while pretending it's smooth sailing, etc.

I like this Trump guy, I hope he wins
I like all the things he has to say about Mexicans, women, and Obama. Seems like a level-headed guy, this one. And his hair ornaments his brow like a noble crown.

Kingly, that's the word I was looking for. Mr. Trump has a kingly bearing.

Holy crap at Virginia tech. I heard about it on the news a long time ago but didn't know that the death toll was that high. That's like a car bomb in an Iraqi market.

It's no problem to double down on a stupid talking point when the Republican platform is the same doubling down on failed ideas they've been regurgitating for decades. Doubling down on stupid is a way of life.

For-motherfucking-real.

Ari Fleischer, W's spokesperson, is saying that just like you can't blame FDR for Pearl Harbor, you can't blame W for 9/11. Trump shoulf bring up the fact that unlike FDR, W ignored the warnings.

Yeah. People try to compare this election to 2012 with it's various nutjob frontrunners, but those people don't seem to realize that Romney was always polling a very strong second no matter who was in the lead. The establishment candidates this time are completely in the dumps in comparison.

Kept you safe by ignoring multiple warnings of an imminent terrorist attack because he was on holiday.

Don't believe what he says, boys; we caused 9/11. [brings forth a manila folder] It's all right here in these secret documents, but you'll never get them. [turns around as he yawns, dropping the folder to the floor behind him. No one picks it up]

Keep reminding us of W. Jeb, I'm sure that is a winning strategy. I can see some people making a decent argument that nothing really could have been done about the initial attack on 9/11(even though I think differently). What is the excuse for Katrina and Brownie heading FEMA? A lot of people died because of the incompetence that came directly from the Bush Administration on that one.

"Safe" is the last thing that I think about when Dubya is mentioned.
