This deserves at least one quote, as alas, did Jeb not deserve at least one primary?

It just boggles my mind that he thought it was okay to beg people to clap for him like that. Did he not realize how desperate it would look?
He thought it was funny maybe. It is really difficult to hate Jeb but it was such a disastrous campaign for him. I bet he was forced to suspend his campaign and endorse Rubio.

jeb truly is a nice guy, but he's george's brother

george might go down in history as the worst president ever

ehh I see Herbert Hoover and James Bucanon being much worse. George wasn't a good president, but atleast he didn't lead us into the Civil War or Great Depression

Whether George was the all-time worst depends on who you ask. Especially since going into Iraq will be looked back on as the worst foreign-policy decision in American history.

Dubya had one of the worst ever approval ratings as he left office though. This country couldn't wait to be rid of him. Obama used the whole "Change!" campaign as a way to get this country excited about having a president who could speak, who was smart, who had ideas. All of the things Dubya wasn't.

What surprised me about Jeb! running was all the people, Jeb! included, who thought they could use Dubya as a positive point on the resume. "He defended this country." Trump absolutely nailed him to the wall on that. And then to drag Dubya himself on stage in SC as a last ditch desperate attempt to make headway, only to fail miserably, just speaks volumes about where the Bush name is in terms of politics in this country.

Jeb! was never going to work. He can't distance himself from his brother, and he can't wash his brother's stain off himself.

I think many on here are overestimating the impact of his brother on his campaign. The fact of the matter is, a good candidate would've been able to use the Bush name to their advantage. Jeb! was the dork that the high school bully liked to pick on. That is his major problem as to why he lost.

Any particular reason why a Rubio/Bush ticket wont happen? Or is that a large possibility?

Read the 11th Amendment:
The Electors shall meet in their respective states, and vote by ballot for President and Vice-President, one of whom, at least, shall not be an inhabitant of the same state with themselves; they shall name in their ballots the person voted for as President, and in distinct ballots the person voted for as Vice-President, and they shall make distinct lists of all persons voted for as President, and all persons voted for as Vice-President and of the number of votes for each, which lists they shall sign and certify, and transmit sealed to the seat of the government of the United States, directed to the President of the Senate.

Well, this kinda shows the horrors of running a campaign. You spend literally 12 months, day and night, on the trail holding meetings, interviews etc. And literally 99 % of the time everything runs smoothly, but then, one out 100 times, you screw up and it ends up as headlines. I mean, the only reason journalists are even trailing the candidates for every single little event is for one reason only: to catch any misstakes or gaffes by the candidate.

I actually laughed at this. Wonder if he'll even try attempting next time?

Assuming republicans don't quad dip and move even further right (at some point it wraps around and they're going to end up on the left). I think he should.

Jeb Factorial should have ran in 2008. GOP at this point is too toxic for any sane republican to run.

Now imagine you have to do it for 4 years, with actual people's lives at stake.

Jeb is just not mentally qualified.

Andrew Jackson fam
Say what you will, but at least he destroyed the Bank.

Someone on Facebook literally posted that history will show the Bush family in a favorable light to which I wondered how delusional this person is

Destroying the bank caused a massive speculative bubble that resulted in one of the worst depressions in history and left our banking system so pathetically weak and unorganized that until we passed FDIC we saw massive depressions and shocks to the system very very frequently, more frequently and more severe than any other country who had a central bank.

So yea, destroying the bank was a fucking terrible decision on Jackson's part.

On the economy - "People Need to Work Longer Hours"

On planned parenthood - “I’m not sure we need half a billion dollars for women’s health issues”

On Minimum Wage - "The federal government shouldn’t be doing this".

On Medicare - "We need to make sure we fulfill the commitment to people that have already received the benefits, that are receiving the benefits, but we need to figure out a way to phase out this program for others and move to a new system that allows them to have something, because they're not going to have anything."

On his use of the offensive term "Anchor Babies" - "Frankly it's more Asian people"

On privatizing Social Security - "My brother tried, got totally wiped out, Republicans and Democrats wanted nothing to do with it. The next president is going to have to try again."

On getting black people to vote Republican - "“Our message is one of hope and aspiration, it isn’t one of division and get in line and we’ll take care of you with free stuff. Our message is one that is uplifting — that says you can achieve earned success.”

I know he's become a sympathetic character after all the Trump bullies Jeb jokes, but this guy has a lot more going against him than his last name and low energy.

Yes, he destroyed the core financial instrument of any functioning country

I will never get the fascination with banks needing to not exist. Banks are a natural result of any capitalist system and will arise regardless of govt intervention, because people will always naturally want to buffer, speculate, and shift money

Wow, that's crazy. Mostly because im surprised to hear anyone is that passionate about ol Jeb. Were they angry billionaires, pissed because they threw so much money at him? In my imagination, its like half a dozen Mr Burns lookalikes
I might be the one person on this forum who would consider themselves a Jeb fan so I can just tell you my thoughts:

Jeb and Kasich are the ones in the race who seemed competent (so better than Rubio) and much more moderate than Cruz and Carson, who just seem absolutely off the rails in what they want the country to become. Probably because the two of them are or were governors, so they already know about working with a legislature and having to represent an entire state.

He seemed like someone who could at least represent a Republican Party that existed before the Tea Party, which admittedly could use changes but the changes we are seeing are going the complete opposite direction of what the GOP needs to do. And yes, he was awkward and had missteps but for all the laughing at those missteps I saw things I would do or say so I empathized with him.

And he was the one person who at least tried to step up to the bully Trump. It just saddens me that this is the kind of character that people in my country want to elect.

It's over now so I'm probably voting for Hillary or whomever comes out of the Dem side because the GOP left standing just doesn't interest me othe than Kasich but he doesn't have a chance.

I'm more going to be happy because hopefully the whole "Jeb is a mess" thing is over. It's really been fucking awful trying to keep up with what is going on in the news, which I do here because it's a great one stop shop for what is happening, and having to see the person I rooted for mocked and mocked and mocked. It always seemed like a crowd of people laughing at the kid who is getting beaten up at school. But that's just the way I saw it.

So yeah, there are absolutely people who rooted for Jeb who are now going to vote for the Dem side.

Now imagine you have to do it for 4 years, with actual people's lives at stake.

Jeb is just not mentally qualified.

Under that qualification, none of the Republicans are qualified. But we all knew this forever now.

Kaisch is a moderate snip.

What the hell are you talking about? Kaisch was very adamantly against rights for the lgbt community, , women (and before getting into this, his defunding of Planned Parenthood hurts far more issues revolving around women than abortion, like basic reproductive health check-ups for men and women and the necessary steps to help with these matters if something were to be more serious, educational services for families who either already have children or are planning to have children, basic access to effective birth control so the family can maturely decide and handle when they want to have children/more children, etc. etc. PP defunding is a huge blow to the lower class and to women, families, and even men's rights. it's an all around attack on the American family. They, the Republicans, would rather you have less access to health-care and less access to your right to decide when you have a family. They want to punish people, especially the lower class and it rings loud and fucking clear) and racial minorities himself. The dude is straight up a bigot and is just as far right as the rest of the Republicans. That's not even considering his disastrous economic plans. Advertising yourself as moderate when you are anything but makes Kaisch just as dangerous a candidate as Trump, Rubio, Cruz, Carson, Bush or *insert the clown-car here*. They're all essentially the exact same. Some, like Trump, are just more honest about their insanity.

43rd was really funny and likable, jeb is just awkward and pitiful. I think these are the main reason he lost. All of our past presidents are likable as fuck starting with Bill Clinton. Nobody would utter the word "I like jeb bush".

The climate is not for "more of the same". Jeb is not what conservatives want today. Lots of money wasted on nothing.

Its the biggest hurdle that Hillary will have to face, in addition to her dodgy past, flip flopping, emails, unlikeability, Bill's adventures (oh wait there is a ton of other stuff)

A nice reminder of how much of a scumbag Jeb! was: http://www.newyorker.com/news/amy-davidson/learning-jeb-bush-terri-schiavo

Good riddance. I cringe every time someone describes this lunatic was the "sensible choice".
Oh God, fuck him even more. Jesus fucking Christ, this guy was fucking evil.

Then there is Bush’s sense of how far to push, and that he was entitled to do so. In August, 2003, he wrote to one of the many judges involved, “I normally would not address a letter to the judge in a pending legal proceeding…. However, my office has received over 27,000 emails reflecting understandable concern for the well-being of Terri Schiavo.” A Times report published last weekend, about Jeb’s many notes and requests to the White House on other matters when his father worked there, suggests that he “normally” wasn’t shy at all about asserting influence inappropriately. At the very end, after the autopsy confirmed that Terri’s brain really was too damaged for the sort of consciousness that her parents imagined, Bush wrote to a state prosecutor asking him to investigate Michael Schiavo, suggesting that there had been a sinister gap between when Schiavo found his wife collapsed and when he called 911. “I urge you to take a fresh look at this case without any preconceptions as to the outcome,” Bush wrote. The prosecutor found nothing.

We dodged a bullet. Blessed Trump.
