Jeff Green Leaves EA, maybe returning to journalism

Best of luck Jeff! Here's hoping for a GFW reunion, and I can't wait to hear your guest appearances in other podcasts.

Why is there always this veil of secrecy whenever someone transitions in the game industry?

It seems anachronistic and paranoid--and when the veil is lifted, always always unnecessary from the public's perspective.

I promise you I'm not being cryptic just to be cute. (Though you gotta admit, for a middle-aged guy, I'm pretty darn adorable.)

I'm not trying to blame you for this (I always assume Someone In A Suit Says So), it just seems to be endemic to the games industry whenever someone leaves for whatever reason, or goes to whatever place. And then we hear the where / what and as a member of the public it's like, "ok why couldn't we have heard that last week again...?"

Most things in the adult world are dumb, I find. We were all better off when we were 8.

Theres a veil of secrecy when anyone transitions from ANY job... well, most of the time. Sometimes its better not to say anything until the ink is dry on that contract.

Man, I need to get a new job too.

Either way, best of luck with whatever thing you've got going and I hope I'll hear you as a guest on some podcast soon.

It's been fun reading about my job prospects on this thread!

But as honored as I'd be to work at Irrational, I'm pretty sure that Ken "Hitler" Levine has a pretty strict "no jews" hiring policy.
wait a minute...i'm jewish and got turned down by irrational...this explains EVERYTHING!!

I don't want to have this come out wrong, but if Green did leave EA of his own choice and does return to Games Media, then where ever he went would probably be the first place I really went to for gaming news and thoughts since GFW closed.

Can't waits for whatever podcast Jeff joins.

I just hope it ain't Bombcast... GWJ or Player One please.
Do you know something that I don't?

Does Jeff know something that I don't?

Jeff, if you would like to be a permanent host on Player One, we will fire Sewart with no hesitation. We probably pay less than EA, though.

That's right... you can't have a show with two Gregs anyway!

Well I guess he could've been fired but I doubt he would be building anticipation to announce an unemployment check.

Well, I really wasn't intending on building anticipation. Not sure how that happened. :)
And like I said upthread, I'm not trying to be coy or whatever. Really, I have no news today other than that I'm not at EA anymore. :)

And y'all are very kind in here. Thank you.

I don't know what to think anymore. Well, I hope whatever you do brings happiness.

Jeff must have said, "You're not the Lord of the Rings!" to the wrong guy over at EA. :D

Looking forward to hearin' ya on whatever podcast you visit/join.

We just appreciate everything you do Jeff and look forward to see what is next.

i wish him the best of luck in whatever he chooses to do, and hope his transition goes well, but personally i would love to see him return to games writing; he was sorely missed.

It seems like his talent was wasted at EA I want him as a permanent fixture in some type of PC podcast maybe with Remo and Shawn Elliott, that would be dreamy

EA podcast was okay. Some cool interviews in the archive. I also enjoyed the walk-and-talks with cam on YT.

Good luck, Jeff!

You know Jeff, there is an opening at Idle Thumbs as podcast host. Its a great place where they talk about wizards and video games. I'm sure you'd get along with Jake, Steve and Sean.

Just a thought.

Jeff definitely got FIRED as the team scapegoat for that awful BOX PLACEMENT DESIGN in MySims Agents.

he's joining IGN. im calling it here and now.

If he was really honest about his feelings about game journalism back on the Brodeo, I think he'd die a little every day he spent breathing the rarefied air of the IGN crew. :lol

Is there anyone else that GAF loves as universally as Jeff Green? This is amazing.

Should I be ashamed that I, a twenty-something guy, loves a middle-aged man so hard? I wish I could quit you, Jeff Green. You'll always be MY Lord of the Rings.

Can't say I love the man to this degree.

But he does seem to be someone largly respected by the majority of Gaf which is cool.

I just respect him for his willingness to shit on pretty much anyone, though his Blizzard love did get trying at times.

After meeting him in person and having interviewed him only once I can tell you that its true He is a great and extremely nice guy.
Also funny and very smart.

There's no shame in loving Jeff Green.

Unless you do it in a creepy way.

Anyway, good luck Jeff with your future endeavours (and maybe live-blogs?)

Yeah. Yeah, you should be ashamed of that.

I might just be teasing you, though.
