Jesus, Ubisoft.

I guess the Destiny box is a secret kind of blue never before discovered.

That shit is purple.

Why did you change the color?

EDIT: I see this was covered.

Playstation 2 branding was dead on. It's gotten progressively worse since.

The "PS4" branding is by no means not terrible though, so it's no big deal.

How can you say this? I'm not even a big AC fan but this is ridiculous.

And AC3 is not a valid answer because they are seperate teams.

It just is... massive open world games in a game made in a very short timespan on multiple different platforms with very little time for QA testing... it's a potent mixture for bugs. And come on, separate core teams maybe, but there's going to be a lot of crossover and it runs on exactly the same engine.

I was gonna crack a joke about how this company put out a Donald Duck game on 8 platforms what did you expect, but this thread took a really weird Huelen-esque turn

You want ACIV, you probably have something that can run it. Not a bad thing, really.

Eventually I hope publishers abandon the PS3/360 generation so that games are not held back design wise, but the more places you can get a game without the design being held back the better. Except for first party published games, it just makes business sense. Exclusives are great for ushering new things into the world, not good to just prevent people from playing a game. Add to the world, don't subtract.

I'll never understand people's aversion to games being on as many platforms as possible. I'll also never understand people encouraging platform exclusivity for third parties.

this is what I was trying to say. Color profiles and web browsers are a headache.

The bottom of the case is purplish though. Then again, is the ubisoft logo purple or blue?

Depends on the color profile your picture provider gives. Sometimes it will be very purple, sometimes inbetween/violet and some other times almost blue.

also i'd like to say that the human eye is weak on the blue range of color. We are way more sensible to red and green (speaking about RGB, when hiding information with a coded watermark, one would place it on the blue channel).

Annual installments can be pretty bad but what's wrong with making the game available on multiple platforms? That seems like a good idea for a 3rd party publisher.

I am really interested to see what AC4 does sales wise. Those games have been juggernauts for Ubisoft, but I wonder if they are finally gonna dive off the cliff with AC4.

i look forward to renting this for ps4, playing it for 3 hours, and returning it. I'm always curious about AC games but never enjoy them, much like Grand Theft Auto games.

Yeah, I expected Ubisoft to do this. They like to hedge their bets, after all. And release on as many things as they can.
That's what you get for using cheap-ass image software. Photoshop tells me it's blue:

It's not even in the purple color range, which should be high up above what this color is.
Shades of HUELEN10...

I'm assuming it's significantly less expensive to make a port than to develop and market a brand new game. A small amount of resources going to a port has negligible impact on any other games.
It's not just about the resources being redirected, it's also about the quality of the end product. Even games limited to two consoles suffer to some extent.

Whats confusing about what I said? I'd prefer it if they actually said Playstation on the box. It always annoys me when a company uses slang and abbrivations instead of their own name. Kind of like how Kentucky Fried Chicken calls themselves "KFC" now. Look at the old PS boxes:

I mean you don't see Microsoft putting X1 on their boxes.

I see your point, but they do need room to put whether the game supports PSN, game-sharing and the camera, etc. THe earlier Playstations did not support these features.

And before you say they should throw them on the back, well, its already crowded as fuck over there.

joke is flying over my head here. reference?

I didn't get it at first. But if you look at the ad, you will see that every single copy of the game prominently displays the age rating.

Ubisoft reeeeaaaally wants you to know that it an 18 rated game.
