Jezebel: Adults Should Not Be Drinking Milk

Ok...

I don't have a lactose intolerance, plus what the fuck am I suppose to drink with cookies or anything with peanut butter?

Is this satire or is the author reframing her actual dumb belief and fallacious arguments with a hilaaarious Cracked-esque presentation?

Didn't we have a thread posing these same dumb arguments a few months ago? I remember saying that no animal cooks meat or wipes their ass after a shit either.

All this article does is make me thirsty for delicious milk. Jezebel is a piece of shit whose writers will stick their fingers in their ears whenever a commenter calls them out on their garbage.

Oh, Jezebel. As long as they don't start knocking tit sucking in general. We, as a civilized people, have needs that must be met.

What a shit site. Milk fucking rules. I'll die inside if (when) I go lactose intolerant.

Cheese, ice cream, pasta sauce, yogurt, cheese, butter, cheese... milk is in the best stuff on earth. This shit was written by an intolerant d bag.

Well I am glad of my Northern European genes because I sure do love me some milk and all the stuff that comes from it. So no thank you I will keep drinking and enjoying milk and you can just sit over there all jealous of us genetic freaks.

Vagina yogurt is cool but Milk is bad? Ok.

So we can make yogurt out of pee?

1. A shit ton of people are lactose intolerant and don't know it. That's a serious issue.
2. If you say you care about the environment and drink milk you're Ann enormous hypocrite
3. Gouda is delicious

If you think about it, the act of eating a burger, is like you walking up to a cow and biting down on its body.

They have a point... no other species reads jezebel... we should all stop too!

Did you completely ignore my post where I said consumption of foreign animal products is highly correlative to the incidence of cancer?

Time and time again, it has been shown that those who lead a vegetarian / vegan lifestyle are healthier and have a much lower incidence of cancer than those who have diets heavy of meats and diary. In fact, poor diet is the leading cause of cancer.

This is a fact, but nobody can go out and publicly say it because the meat/diary industry with all their political hold on american government would tear to you pieces.

Or, you're considered "UN-AMERICAN" if you don't believe in meat and diary.

the fuck am I supposed to put on my cereal then?
Most of the "milk alternatives" taste pretty good with cereal, and I say this VERY HONESTLY.

Soy milk, almond milk, cashew milk, flax milk, maybe even lactose-intolerant milk.

It's the creaminess that's key, not necessarily the dairy.

That said, whole or 2% milk with cereal is wonderful. Just a bit heavier than necessary.

Nope. This is really the kind of shite jezebel publishes.

The article is written poorly. But the consumption of meat and diary is not healthy for you. The research is there. Check out pubmed for peer reviewed medical research articles on the matter. It's heavy on science and if you don't have higher level education on medical science primarily in patho-physiology it might a bit over your head, but you should read them. Beyond that, i also agree it's your life and do what the fuck you please.

If it wasn't delicious I sure wouldn't be drinking it. But it is. It's goddamn glorious.

As long as it's not skim.

My soy milk has the same amount of protein and more calcium than regular milk. There's also the added bonus of not supporting the milk/egg/meat industry, and not having to worry about any side effects milk has.

I'll be honest, I don't need more calcium, so I'm good. I also don't worry about "milk side effects" because I don't suffer from them, and if I were to start worrying about not supporting the milk/egg/meat industry I'd need to curb my meat, egg, and foods containing milk and egg consumption as well (e.g., become vegan, which I don't knock vegans for but I personally am not vegan).

So no, I still don't see a reason to make the switch. It's fine for people who want to be vegan, but I don't. I also think it's fine for those who are lactose intolerant, do suffer from side effects from drinking milk, can't digest it very well, or just find almond/soy/etc. taste better. Those are all valid reasons.

"Because there's alternatives" isn't a reason for someone who has no reason to look for an alternative. "Because it's gross and ew and other animals don't do that" isn't a reason because we already do a metric fuckton of things that animals don't do. "Because you're not an adult if you drink milk" is just a fucking stupid reason (which I'm sure you think is stupid as well).

Isn't the grain industry also big and lucrative, and has more political power?

Jesus, don't invoke PubMed and then expect people to go out of their way to find the papers that happen to reinforce your opinion, particularly when the statement "consumption of meat and dairy is not healthy for you" is so incredibly undefined. This reeks of in-the-bubble speak. "The research is there?" Come on...

STUDIES HAVE SHOWN *insert completely random shit here*

IT'S JUST SCIENCE, FOLKS.

Didn't read the article, don't care. Once I stopped eating dairy I stopped having digestion issues.

I miss the convenience of milk but the alternatives, although more expensive, taste good enough when you find the right stuff. And don't make me feel like shit for hours.

This is pure idiocy. Cereal is not enjoyable without milk, and people that think cereal is only for children are not worth my time. And no. almond milk is not an acceptable substitute. Whole milk or nothing.

Great article. Milk is vile and does horrible things to me.

That's your problem. Don't project your weakness onto others. I think onions are one of the worst things in the world yet I wouldn't try and shame people for eating them or putting them in food.

We are smart enough to creatively manipulate food and use it how we wish. We don't HAVE to live like animals.

Yeah, all the cancers studies I've happened upon when brought up in various places like forums+news sites+newspapers gave me the impression that everything causes cancer.
So I tend to take "studies have shown" in regards to health in general with a grain of salt unless the source, method, and validity are well defined and seem proper.
