I understand who you're referring to, but the statement "It's a sad day for everyone." is simply false. I don't disagree with your view that the people cheering outside is weird, I just disagree with your sentiment that it should be considered a sad day.

Agree to disagree...

Wasn't there months of testimony? Who the fuck was on the jury for this trial? I know someone's life is in the balance, but I'd be PISSED to be a juror on a multi-month long trial, especially when the defendant is as guilty as she obviously was.

I haven't followed the case much, but she's pretty attractive. I don't know why.

Because she is.

They tried to make her more 'sophisticated' looking during the trial to downplay her looks and make her seem more respectable.

Enjoy your dwindling freedom. Assuming you're out on bail, of course.

I thought that bail would be immediately revoked after conviction of 1st degree murder. Does anyone know if that's the case?

I'm amazed that the trial took 19 weeks, that's more than 4 months.

I still can't understand why someone would kill their own spouse. Why can't they just walk away and pursue a divorce.

They weren't married...

Its court room theater. Turn the blond bimbo into the homely librarian who was abused by the evil man no one else can remember being evil but trust her she wouldn't have killed him otherwise.

Length of the trial I feel had more to do with the prosecution making sure that her half assed stories and lies weren't given a chance to work. If it was a short trial could fool some idiot jurors. Keeping it long and hammering makes sure everything she says is scoffed at. They didn't want another Casey Anthony case

I'd say they were going for something other than sophisticated. They wanted the jury to believe she had low self esteem and was plain.

That does sound more like it. Either way, they were trying to manipulate her appearance and detract from her normal, more 'sexual' look.

Why'd it take so long for her trial to start again? Didn't she get arrested like 5 years ago?

There were several delays, including the following:

Months before the trial was to begin, Arias told judge that she wanted to represent herself. The judge allowed it, as long as there were public defenders present during the trial.
A few weeks later, Arias attempted to get letters into evidence that she alleged were written by Alexander. In the letters, Alexander admitted to being a pedophile. The letters were tested and found to be forged. Within days of the forgery discovery, Arias told the judge that she was over her head and her legal counsel was reinstated.

Also these delays:

August 8, 2011 - Arias told Judge Sherry Stephens of Maricopa County Superior Court that she wanted to represent herself. Stephens granted the request but had Arias' public defenders, Victoria Washington and Kirk Nurmi, remain on as advisory counsel.

December 16, 2011 – Washington filed a motion to withdraw from Arias' defense.

December 21, 2011 – Washington's motion was granted.

January 2012 - Jennifer Willmott, a death penalty-qualified defense attorney, was assigned to represent Arias.

I believe the defense had to "start over" at least once because of the changes in counsel.

Great! Now they can finally stop talking about this crazy bitch. I swear, if I had to hear one more thing about Jodi Arias from my co-workers or on TV, I would throw myself out the nearest window.

I've never seen people get so worked up over what's pretty much just an average murder... It's not like she's even that attractive or anything. I don't get all the hype :\

Erin Burnette looked great yesterday or the day before. Extra hair+makeup made her super pretty, didn't wish to take me eyes off her. I was hoping it was going to be a permanent thing but tonight she looks a bit more plain. Still good though.
Sorry.

I only just started paying attention to the trial (started checking out the late night specials on CNN) and....she seemed pretty guilty to me.

I just assumed she would get off like the rest of these crazy women who murder people.

I'm so glad they finally put one away.

This was like a month ago but I was taking money out of an ATM and an older lady saw my t-shirt:

She asked me if they were the same ninjas blah blah Jody Arias case. I laughed one of those laughs that you do when you pretend that you know what the person is talking about but don't really want to start a conversation with them.

LOL...after reading some of the details, I finally get "the joke". smh

If she gets away with life after stabbing the victim over 20 times, slitting his throat and shooting him in the head, then AZ totally sucks at justice.

The death penalty is not usually given in conventional 1st degree murder cases in the US excepting Texas. There's enough controversy surrounding capital punishment in the US that most of the time judges are very reluctant to sentence a convicted murderer to death.

This came up in my facebook feed today.
Crowds gather at the Maricopa County Courthouse during the murder trial of Winnie Ruth Judd in 1932. Some trials are just spectacles, regardless of the era.

Reportedly, all three were interested in the same man, prominent Phoenix businessman John J. "Happy Jack" Halloran.

People used to have the coolest names.

Ol' Happy Jack Halloran got all the ladies.
